I've had enough cold and snow and am ready for SPRING!!!!!!!!!

How does upper 60 (like 68) and sunny sound? I love living in the SouthWest

It's 35 degrees here, but I can't complain. It was 6 degrees here in 1981, or so says my local weather website.

But yes, it's VERY cold!!

HAHA ya I've been watching the weather around the country... sounds COLD! It's beeen around 75 degrees for the last few days here (Southern California)!

We're having a heat wave....it's up to 16 but still snowing   :(

It is a heat wave, it's only 9 here.  At least it's not snowing at the moment!

Well, 17 F here in Newark, NY with just some light flurries falling at the moment.  We've only received about 4" of snow, but if I drive about 10 miles north, closer to Lake Ontario, they've had over 40" since last Friday!  Lake effect snow is wonderful ( ;) ) stuff.  Light and fluffy.  Drive a few miles and you're in the clear, a few more miles and you can't see across the street!

A severe arctic front has been predicted for Mississippi on Thursday along with 2-3 inches of snow! That never happens for us. I'm not used to it and I'm freeeeezzzzing HAHA. The low for Friday night is going to be 6! Burr!

After four years in Grand Forks ND, I swore I would never complain about the weather in SC again.  Right now, it's 39 degrees with a slight breeze, will probably snow tomorrow night and Thursday AM (but I ain't complainin'! :D).  In 1973, we had a two-day snow-fall total of twenty-seven inches in Sumter (mid-state)----shut down the city for a solid week.

I'm a 45 minute drive from Grand Forks! :D It's warming up. 6 degrees & -4 with wind chill at the moment. Not too bad at all!

I can somewhat sympathize in the weather dept. in Texas we were in the low 70's one day the very next day it was snowing and 31 degrees! This week they are predicting with the wind chill factor it'll feel like 0. It has already snowed here 3 time and at this time last year it was still in the high 70's and low 80's. Where is my warm weather?  Oh and it should ice over tomorrow night not snow but sleet and make one giant skating rink, again!

There is ice on the oranges.
Our heat has been on for the last few days.
We have to cover all the tropical plants and trees, and bring those in pots into the garage.

It is currently 47F and will be dropping to 27F tonight, but with wind chill it will feel like 17F.
It is sunny with blue skies during the day, but the tourists on TV News are "shocked"....they didn't know it could be this cold in FL. Maybe they thought Mickey Mouse could fix it. :D

It's nice to get some use out of our warm clothes, kind of justifies keeping sweaters etc.

I have a meeting at Church tonight so I'll have the heater on in the car, and a cup of Barry's waiting when I get home.
O'Malley doesn't seem to mind the cold......his ancestors were from County Kerry. He gets very lively when I put his leash on.

For the past few years, we have had very good decembers. In fact, I think I made a post last year, or the year before, about seeing a robin near Christmas. Was very strange. But the little knucklehead flew into the glass front door instaed of just hopping into the nearby shrubs as I walked by. It wasnt hurt bad, in fact if simply turned and flew right by me! But the weather was very mild for december. Then we seemed to get a lot of smow in February, almost like compensating for not getting it evened out over the winter months. I am hoping Feb isnt too bad this year, as I will be headed north to Erie to see a certain group perform.

But this year, our December....WOW! Its not as bad as many of you, but we still got a decent amount of snow, esp. when considering the previous years of light winter weather in December. PLus its cold and windy. BUT, I also saw my first robins of 2010! Right on New Years Day! Birds must be confused. Why arent they flying south? BUt they both flew upward as I walked by. I once heard thats a sign of good luck. How the first robins you see of a year fly is how the year will go for you. So if that old legend is true, then I am in for a good year.  or maybe just a strange one, as robins shouldnt even be around until April.   :-\

It's going to be 34 degrees tonight....in MIAMI!  :o This is huge for us.

It's also a big deal to have a WHOLE WEEK'S worth of cold temperatures. Usually when we get cold weather, it will last one or two days and then go back to the heat again. To have consistently cold temps for a full week is very rare for us.

I am LOVING it.  ;D I hate the heat!

This week's forecast is 70-75 degrees and sunny. Gotta love the beach cities of Southern California! We went to school for a year in Boston, so we have a heightened appreciation of our own weather :-)

Call it reverse homesickness or whatever but I miss Alaska right about this time of year every year. I'm in SE New Mexico where it can and has gotten really cold at times, like below 0 cold. I just have a problem, after living in Alaska for 4 years, with it being 65 one day and 30 the next day with snow. I thought winter was supposed to be a constant thing not up and down. I want my true winter!!! So maybe I am crazy, who knows. the swing in temps I mentioned are for today and tommorrow and Friday.

Accu-Weather thinks that there may be snow flying around in JAX, ORL, Daytona Beach tomorrow and/or Friday.  We've had about 6" here, but about 15 miles NE of me nearer Lake Ontario several communities got >60" - on the level with no drifts.  And, there were drifts in places up to 8-10 FEET!
Supposed to be below zero for overnight lows here this weekend. 

Not much better anyplace else in the northern hemisphere.  Some long range forecast models have much colder than normal weather lasting into April!  Maybe it'll snow in Chicago for ForumFest 2010!  ;) ;D  Some of coldest seasonal weather in over 20 years.

They are calling for snow here in the SC upstate tonight!  We'll see what happens, maybe a little delay in the morning?  We rarely get snow here, once a year, lasts about one day, and then it melts away! 

I'm in North Eastern Ohio (10 miles from Akron) and we have about a foot of snow on the ground now and we are expected to get 3-5 inches this evening, 3-6 inches overnight, and additional 6-12 inches tomorrow, and then Lake Effect on Saturday. 

Mel has been trying to get home from work (which isn't very far from where she lives) since 3:30 and she still hasn't made it. It is now 5:43. Sara are you in trouble!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm, wind chill of 26°F.  Seems like a good night to make stew.

Oh, I know from experience.  Since I was the resident "meteorologist" at school ( I got a Minor in it while completing my Earth Science Masters), I was the one everyone looked for in hopes of a snow day at school.  They even expected me to give odds and were disappointed if I said the odds were less than 80%.  I didn't dare go to the faculty room for lunch or anything else for that matter as I was expected to give everyone the latest "good" news.  Ah...  the good ol' days!  Now  just sit at home, watch the snow fly, watch the busses try to get through, drink my coffee, get on the CW Forum (!  :D), and smile!!   ;D  And smile, and smile.....   ;D   ;D   ;D   ;D

Ya just gotta love the desert! Get's entirely too hot in the summer and just a bit frigid in the winter. 3 inches of snow 2 days ago high temp for the days since 31 degrees. This morning at 6 am my time it was 9 degrees and right now it is 12. High for today a sweltering 47 degrees. Wed. it was almost 70. A really good and stout buttered rum sounds good right about now.

Still snowing here but just flurries now. Had about 7 inches all total since it started last week. I finally was able to venture out today and I have decided that I REALLY LIKE IT!!!! I forgot I missed being out in the snow. There is something it does to your system that makes you feel younger!!  :o  Maybe I'll take up skiing again?!?!  Oh I forgot, just had surgery on both feet...guess that lets the skiing out  :(

It's literally freezing here in Central FLORIDA....going to be in the low 20s tonight.

So what are we doing about it?

Staying in the house as much as possible, with the heat on.
We had to cover our tropical plants....don't know if they will survive.
We put flannel sheets and a big down-filled comforter on the bed.....it's so cosy!
We had breakfast in bed this morning and watched "Sense and Sensibility".

O'Malley has to have his walks, so 3 times a day I get a sweater, warm jacket, hood and boots on and we walk about a mile.
We very rarely eat red meat, but at Dave's request I have made a crock pot full of beef stew with Guinness.
Soon I will add the mushrooms, barley and potatoes.

I am reading at 7am Mass tomorrow, so I'll have to leave the house at 6:30am.....Brrrrr!

I'm glad to report that local homeless shelters and churches say they will not turn away anybody in need.
As you can imagine, homeless people from other States come down to FL in Winter because it's usually warmer.
So the shelters get pretty full.

I think I'll go and see if they need help tomorrow.
I trained in Shelter Management with the Red Cross, and can recommend their courses.
You never know when you may need the skills they teach.

We hardly have snow days...even if it's below zero, we're probably going to still have snow days, walking between buildings with snow and wind.
Good thing it's not snowing right now.

It's been rainy and FREEZING all day today. Brrrrrrrrrr this is weird weather for Miami!

If it's going to be this darn cold, it should at least have the decency to snow so that it's at least PRETTY. It snowed about 6 inches in the past few days but that's not enough. I need REAL snow, like 3 feet at least. *curses and complains*

On another note though...JUST OVER 16 DAYS UNTIL I GET MY SONGS FROM THE HEART CD AND DVD! *SQUEALS* ;D

Boys wore their ski bibs out yesterday and slid on the ice! They got the red saucers out but not enough snow to slide on the hill..... So they then got out the skin boards(beach board) and threw it down the drive way and jumped on top of their stomachs.

I just yelled be careful. Sometimes its better if I don't watch everything they do!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its cold. Even the dog just looks at us like we are idiots......when we take him outside!

There are wildlife tragedies though.....lots of sea turtles are dying, so are manatees.

There was an appeal on TV for people with trucks to help transport the loggerhead turtles down to South FL
where the water is a bit warmer. They have enough drivers, but need more trucks.

The manatees always come to the inland waterways when it gets cold,
and the poor things are all huddled together in the canals. It breaks my heart.

We love our gentle endangered sea cows.....their only enemy is man, who will not slow down his speedboat
and cuts them to ribbons.

They are predicting 2-4 inches this week. I am sure most of you think that is nothing, but consider we only had 3.26 Inches in all of 2009 and the yearly average is 7.

Tomorrow our high is 74, and I have to say that I'm happy to have the warm weather back. As much as I complain and moan about the heat (:D), the 10 or so days of straight cold weather got on my nerves. I hate having to bundle up with all kinds of clothes everytime I go outside! What a pain! LOL I don't know how all of you snow people do it.

LOL I know, I know. The grass is always greener on the other side for me when it comes to weather! :D :D :D :D

Wind...wind...and look more wind...might as well toss in some rain too.  !530 AM kept having sharp signal interruptions, a sure sign of lightning either at their transmitter or by the car.

Was driving down State Route 49 between Placerville and Jackson; sure enough a part of an Oak had come down and blocked the road.  Looks like a guy who had been passing through had a chainsaw in his truck and started working on it.  At the time I came through he and some other drivers had finished clearing the northbound lane so the traffic was able to pass.   20-30 minutes earlier and I would have gotten to know Mr. Tree on a more personal level.

We are experiencing El Nino here in Sou. Ca. - rain, down-pours, wind, tornados, bracing for mud-slides, erosion etc. at the beaches and in burn areas.  Nice change from the blistering heat, and fires!  Spent two weeks in the snow over the holidays at my daughter's - love to see it fall - the scenery is exquisite - but you can't start your car for 1/2 hour in the morning and you have to dig it out first! It was nice to see the palm trees again!

the thunder was so loud it set off car alarms haha scared me real bad and sheet lighting evaded my camera, i haven't seen a storm like this since the 90s

Let's see...here in SC it got up to about 70 degrees both yesterday and today.  Very rare.  But it was beautiful, and I loved it!!!  Its supposed to cool back down a little bit this weekend and get into the 50s.  That is still rather warm for January!!!!

Slpet most of yesterday but we had a breather in teh storm. Last night however it rained most of the night. Sprinkles on the way in today but I think another band and heavier rain expected. Was going to take the light rail in to work but the parking lot was under water.

Well, today is a miserable day in the upstate of SC!  It is pouring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It's kind of cold, but that's due to the extreme wind we are having as well.  I don't wanna go back out in it!!!!!!!!!!

The heaviest rain was supposed to fall between 2 p.m. and midnight – as much as 5 inches in the north Valley and between one and 2 inches in the Phoenix area.

The storm will slowly trail off through Friday morning, but it is possible for light showers into the weekend.

The National Weather Service to issued a flash flood watch today for the Phoenix region and a high-wind warning that runs into the night, with predictions of gusts of up to 60 mph.

The biggest part of the storm was expected into the evening, said Ken Waters of the weather service said.

Just woke up and thought it sounded quiet....too quiet.  Got about an inch of snow on the ground, it'll all be melted by noon.

That's our biggest fear in the high country, melting snow. Sedona is being prepared for flooding. We have a lull this morning but expect more today. Hey we wanted RAIN not the 40 day flood.

It rained really hard here last night. At one time the thunder was so loud it shook the house and scared the cats. The lightning was so bright, it reminded my mom of an episode of Malcolm in the Middle, where they let off the fireworks in their backyard, then their yard was almost as bright as day. Twice we even lost power. I hear it's supposed to stop raining tonight, be dry tomorrow, but then another storm will hit next week.

Florida is the lightning capital of the World, and proved it last night.

The bands of storms were forecast to sweep across Florida during the night, so I walked O'Malley early.

The storm radio was bleeping and kept waking me up.
I fell asleep again, when there was a mighty crash of thunder, and suddenly there was a dog on top of the bed.
He was trembling so badly, I had to sit up with him.
The only casualties reported so far are two baby bald eagles who were in a nest when their tree fell.

The rain here in the Bay Area has been falling for the whole week. The big story here is in Pacifica with an apartment building on the coast. The land behind the building has been falling into the ocean and is now up to the back of the building. The decks off of the apartments have fallen into the ocean and with the rain today and thru the whole weekend will probably cause the rest of the apartments to fall into the ocean.

We've had no stormy weather the past couple of days, but it's VERY windy right now so I'm thinking we may be headed for storm territory pretty soon.

Today was sunny and cold again, much like my first day here, completely unlike my second day!

I'm actually comforted by the weather fluctuations.  Reminds me of home!

We are in a lull today but expect more tonight. I wonder about California as I was raised in teh San Joaquin Valley and lived in San Francisco. Brother lives in Novato

so far we have no rain! but tonightt they are expecting more!!!!!!!

SNOW!  In the California LOW desert !!!  Actually it isn't the 1st time - but it is rare - and today we had 2-3 inches of snow in Yucaipa, Beaumont and Banning.  This is the area just before you get to Palm Springs.  I swear, either we are roasting to death, literally, in the wild-fires, OR we're freezing!  Actually, it was a fun day for the kids, school was cancelled and they got to play in the snow.  I'm NOT complaining ... YET!    ;D

okay i haven't had this problem before going to bed and having lighting and thunder keep me up. It was again so loud more car alarms went off. It scared me real bad and i balled up under the sheets. Thankfully I got a good nights sleep otherwise so I wasn't tired the next morning. And there was a power surge, not outage but surge, that's some powerful lightning

We do need the rain, but we don't need the yearly rainfall at once. Last time I saw this much at one time was 40 years ago in SEA.  Back then I though my feet were frowing webs  :D That's when we had 30 inches in 2 weeks ( 3 months in a row)

I was on the road about half an hour ago. It wasn't raining and the roads were starting to dry, but it was a, very cold, 41 degrees.

Rained a lot last night, it's freezing up though now. Now it's snowing heavily. I'm staying inside this weekend, blizzard! Maybe school on Monday will get cancelled... :-\

Very cold here this morning.  Morning low temp reached -5 F.  It's 10 am and all the way up to +3 F!  ;D

My daughter called from near Charlotte, NC.  They got about 4-5 inches of snow.  Freezing rain now.  Their dog (a husky mix) loves it!  ;D

I'm about two hours north of Charlotte. I believe we got about 7-9 inches. That never happens here! :)

I live about 40 min southwest of Roanoke, VA and we have about 10-12 inches of snow on the ground and its 20 degrees right now.

It was in the low low 30s yesterday and we got snow.  This morning, we woke up and it was sunny and in the low 40s.  But, doesn't look like there was ever a bit of snow on the ground!!!!! 

pretty comfy today, its a little chilly in the mornings and evenings but other wise a light sweater and pants are all ya need :D

Two hour delay for college tomorrow!! And my little brother and sister have a snow day tomorrow!!! I live in SC about 5 minutes from the NC line and we got about 4 or 5 inches of snow and ice!

It was pretty chilly all weekend, but I stayed indoors for most of it.  It should warm up a bit, but looks like it's going to be a soggy week as well.

Looks like an historic snowstorm for the mid-Atlantic and east coast this Friday and Saturday.  Blizzard warnings already in Delaware and parts of Maryland.  Baltimore/Washington area could get upwards of 2 feet!  Roanoke, and all our Celtic Woman friends, will be getting upwards of maybe 12" between late afternoon on Friday, overnight Friday, and most of Saturday.

Stay safe everyone!  Enjoy the snow if that's something you like, but be careful.  We're quite selfish and protective here and we want you healthy for all the shows!!

We had snow for about 2 minutes today, then it started to sleet.  We haven't had that in--well, I can't remember ever having it!!!  It did that for quite a while.  But mostly rain alllllll day, and quite cold!

I just saw a weather report on this. WOW! What a radar image they had of this thing moving. Its like the Godzilla of winter storms. Our weather people predict 4-8 inches of snow for us, but go just 20 miles south and its 8-16. Plus if it tracks a little bit quicker more north, our 4-8 becomes that 8-16. Weather person said we are lucky?  :-\  Because like Brad says, Phily, Balt, and NY are gonna get 18+.  :o

Time for CW to seriously consider starting tours in Florida, Texas, or California, then heading for the northeast in May and June.

    After Saturday's snowfall, rfd452002, if you don't mind, let us know the snowfall and road conditions.  From about that point forward people will be enroute to Roanoke for the shows next week.  It's going to be "white-knuckle time" for many of us driving it!  :o

Here's a website that has traffic cams that update on a fairly regular schedule, some as fast as every 2 seconds.  I use the I-81 cams when my daughter travels to and from Charlotte.  If the site doesn't come up with a large list of cities, click the button at the top that says "Show City List".  From the city list, pick a city near you or along your driving route.  You could select Roanoke and work your way backwards.  The maps allow you to shift them with "the hand" since they are Google maps.

Safe travels for everyone headed out to Roanoke.  The storm will be over, but cleanup will be ongoing in many locations.  Luckily, the interstates are usually among the first roads to be cleaned.  New storm brewing for the middle of next week, so you may still have weather conditions to deal with.  This next storm looks like it will track a bit farther north affecting OH, PA, NY, and New England.

One of my friends and I were just outside playing in the snow like a couple of five year olds .... and the snow is well past my knees ... in parts parts it's up to my thighs, and I am 5'8'' ... that's a lot of snow ... especially considering it's Virginia.  But it was quite fun to walk in ... and throw snow on each other.  :D

LA area is still dry, but it's supposed to start raining here in a couple hours.

I just saw the forecast for the Northeast......14" of snow, and the guy said "very dangerous storms".

It should be an interesting start to the Tour for the CW Ladies!!!

Seriously, the emphasis for everyone MUST be on safety, of course.
We do not want anyone getting hurt, or stranded. If you don't absolutely have to go out, stay home.

If they ever got more than 4 inches of snow in Ireland, the whole Country would shut down.

I remember when Dave and I moved from London up to a little village in East Yorkshire in 1986,
we had only been there 6 weeks when the Village was snowed in.....completely cut off for several days.
That was about 6 inches of snow, on top of ice, but the wind had blown it into drifts.

It was great for business in our Village Store (which we had just bought) as nobody could get into town.
There were no snowploughs in the area, so they had to transport one from Scotland.
The Countryside looked beautiful of course, but we could not get out of the Village.
I must find those photos.
A military helicopter dropped essential supplies.......Guinness, Brown Ale....... ;D

Getting another 8-10 inches today and tonight.

Back In December, not only did I have to shovel the snow off the driveway I had to help my roommate chop up the tree that came down across the top of the driveway (We're only at 1500 FT, so all the oaks in the area were shedding limbs that couldn't take the weight of the snow), chopping the tree down with a hand saw and garden shears because his chainsaw decided to quit right then and there.

I feel your pain.....we all have our cross to bear....
I mean.... we have to dodge pelican poop.....and find something to do until happy hour at the Tiki bar...:'(

Recent rains have made the area that wonderful green that I love.  Golden brown in the summer, vibrant green in the winter and spring.

I was just kidding......(except the pelican poop*).....but you knew that!

Actually it is freezing here in Florida......lots of people camping out in Daytona waiting for the 500 are freezing their patooties off.....many have given up and taken hotel rooms at inflated prices.
Even O'Malley got a shock when we went for a walk a little while ago.....he wanted to cut his walk short.

Yesterday morning it looked beautiful, sunshine and blue skies....so I set off to a Notary signing in a business suit....
it was so c-c-c-c-cold! So I changed my mind and my suit!

***Actually, I'm very sad that the number of pelicans has declined.
We used to see whole squadrons of them flying along the shore......now we're lucky if we see one.

I love to go to Cedar Key, they all line up on the pier and intimidate the fisherman with those beady pelican eyes.

The crime rate is just about 0%. The Sheriff has the best job in the USA.
You can see him every morning taking a leisurely breakfast, reading his paper, chatting to the folks.

We took my brother (the one who is now ill) and his wife there a few years ago, to show them "old Florida".
They just loved it....sitting on the pier, sipping a cold beer, watching the pelicans and the fishermen.
The weather was perfect.
Unfortunately in this long spell of cold weather, a lot of our wildlife is suffering.
They have been suffering for the past 30 years from rampant housing development, and commercial development.
Their habitat has been stolen.......and now freezing weather is killing some of our manatees, sea life and native birds.
Except, of course......the alligator, who seems able to survive anything.

The winter of 2009-2010 continues to be one for the record books.  Several weather outlets reported this afternoon that with the snow falling in areas of the panhandle of Florida, there was snow on the gound someplace in ALL 50 STATES!  (Hawaii on the mountains).  No one could find any reference to this having EVER occurred since weather records began being kept in the mid- to late 1800's.

I was 10 feet from the stage. You bet I saw them and then walked over to the table where they were signing CDs. Line was really long. This was only the 2nd tme they appeared at the Ren Fair here. They are great.

Its snowing again here in Iceburgh.....ah...I mean...Pittsburgh. Many schools are on 2 hour delays again tomorrow. We also have had 2 local ice rink roofs collapse because of weight of snow. Also a couple barns. Animals needed rescue from one.

It's been gorgeous here all week 80 degrees - typical southern California weather.  More rain though starting Sunday and into next week - we're enjoying it while we can - good ole El Nino!   ;D

It is very cold here in Central FL.....37F right now, but going up to 61F later.
O'Malley doesn't seem to mind the cold.

I'm glad it's going to be great weather for the weekend, sunny and in the 70s.

Maggie May and Wendell are coming down from VA.....should be fun!

I had an inch of ice and 2 more  inches of snow on top of my car from yesterday.  Glad the sun is out and getting rid of some of the snow but it won't be so nice tonight when it freezes again.

Looks like the ladies may just dodge a weather bullet as they make their way from Pittsburgh tonight, to Wilkes-Barre tomorrow and NYC on Friday.  Major winter storm with blizzard conditions will hit the W-B area on Thursday.  So, hopefully, they will be out of town and in NYC by then.  Just a bit of snow for that area on Wednesday so no weather issues on concert day.

As it is, NYC will have very stormy conditions Thursday, Thursday night, and Friday.  Heavy rain and up to 6" of snow according to AccuWeather.  Plus, very windy.

Travelling Wednesday night/Thursday morning should be OK and will get them to their hotel before the real nasty stuff hits.  I hope their hotel is near Radio City Music Hall! 

What a Tour so far!  All kinds of snow and wintry weather.

 The National Weather Service has just issued a Winter Storm Watch for Wed night in the area. The blizzard could start before dawn on Thursday. We’re thinking of letting our front-row seats in W-B go empty unless later forecasts delay this storm and we can drive home that night. It will be snowing, but not blizzard conditions.

Was snowing at my last two stops, wasn't sticking though and turned to rain by 17:00

Well the forecast is still for a blizzard with feet of snow and high winds for ‘late Wed night’, but it’s looking more & more like the worst of it starts Thursday around noon and lasts for 1 to 2 days.

We decided that we just can’t give up front row seats, but risking an 85 mile trip thru the mountains in a blizzard is crazy…. So we’re heading home right after the concert and hopefully will beat the storm. If the power stays on we can watch the DVD while the snow piles up over the next two days…… and hope that it all melts before we head to Schenectady next week.

CW will be driving right into it if they stay overnight in W-B. Hopefully they’ll get to NYC before the weather gets too bad. It looks like the city will just see rain and a lot of wind.

I just learned that the Weather Channel has set up for live broadcasts 5 miles from my house…… not a good sign I suppose…..  ::)

The current forecast for a large part of NY/PA/NJ is 20+ inches of snow plus blizzard conditions thanks to high winds.

I hope that CW got out of W-B right after the show, ‘cuz if they waited until today, they’ll have a very hard time making it to NYC in time for the first show there.

Over 12" of new snow overnight here east of Rochester, NY.  Strong winds, lots of drifting.  Still snowing now.  Thank goodness for the snowblower - it made fairly short work of clearing the driveway this morning.  Of course, when the plow comes by again, I'll have to do it all over again.  No School for every school in the area.

It just started to snow a little while ago, Crazy weather....

I know hindsight is 20/20, and the weather in the Northern States has been much worse than usual
for this time of year.....however, it seems logical to me to take climate into account when planning
the CW Tour Schedule.
Would it have made more sense to visit FL and CA in the early weeks of this Tour, and the "Frozen North" in April?
As it is, the ladies are coming to FL and CA in April, then they head North to WA and Canada.
I am well aware that it depends on when each venue can fit them in, they can't just choose where to go and when,
but maybe they could sketch it out well in advance and then approach the venues.

Don't get me wrong, we are looking forward to our Concerts down here in Dixie with great anticipation.
I love having something to look forward to.

Flight delays and cancellations have had a knock-on effect here in Orlando, many passengers have been stranded in the Airport......but at least they are not knee deep in snow.

Yeah, we've had an unbelievably dry, warm, and sunny week here in upstate NY.  Our snow is all gone (except for a few places where there were large piles).  That's amazing considering March opened with over 12" of snow on the ground!  No precipitation at all for 10 days!  That's unheard of for March around here.  We will be getting some of that nasty weather headed for the east coast this weekend.  At least the rain will wash all that nasty salt off the roads!  No sign of a return to wintry weather for the time being.  Let's hope spring is finally here.

This is our 3rd nice sunny day in a row in Pittsburgh. High about 85. We may see a shower later, but should be a hit-n-run kind of storm, if it occurs. Rain coming in tomorrow though. Weekend expected to be nice, and rain late Memorial Day. But since I plan to go to the baseball game, expect rain about 1:30  :D

Also, you can take it to the bank, sure bet, it will rain and storm like crazy here on Friday, June 4th in late afternoon / early evening. How do I know this? Because I am going to an outdoor concert at that time  :D

My first duty is to my family, and that means O'Malley too. I love him to bits.
He is getting old, and is almost totally blind with cataracts.
He is now 10 years old, the usual life span for a Kerry Blue Terrier is from 12 to 14 years.
He is still lively and funny, but he is very dependent.
He gets "seperation anxiety", and is very afraid of thunder and fireworks.

It has been hot & humid here for the last week. This is southern Ontario (Niagara) & it's not normally this hot & humid this early... I've already been in our pool multiple times.

Yesterday was 30 with a humidex of 39 (that's 86, feeling like 102.2 for all American folk). It's been hot & I want the humidity to GO AWAY. I miss Saskatchewan (where I used to live) for it's dry-heat summers. Oh well...

Well, when my Aunt ( hwol ived in Phoenix from 1912 until 1962) moved to Fresno, she always complained about the Heat of Fresno. LOL. She would complain that Fresno would be 105 even though Phoenix would be 110 or 115. Her answer ? Phoenix was a dry heat.

My definition of a dry heat. The perspiration evaporates before it is formed.

The usually beautiful pure white beaches of the FL panhandle around Pensacola are being covered in oil
and are off limits. Only God knows what the effect will be on our wildlife above and below the waters,
but we already know it is disastrous.
It breaks my heart to see our pelicans covered in oil.....and they are the lucky ones who will get cleaned up.

As an inspector for FEMA 2004 - 2009, I thought I had seen this coastal area at it's worst.....but the worst is yet to come....

It may already be too late.

That's my biggest fear.....by the time they realize the effect it's having, it will be too late.
It is unforgivable to play politics with the lives and futures of millions of people, not to mention the environment and wildlife.

We are about to get our first Hurricane of the Season......just pray that it stays clear of the Gulf.
 
I may just be tempted to stay over the Pond......Dave could take his retirement 5 months early and bring O'Malley over.

2:11 am and we are under a severe thunderstorm warning. 94 degrees? This weather is insane!

Southern California beaches now at 80 degress, the Baisn, 90+ and the valleys and deserts 100 -125. Oh add humidity to this. Though midwest and east coast and the south have higher humidity with warm/hot temps.  We all feeling  it and stanky too ;)

I feel lucky. It's only been in the low 80's here. Pretty warm, but at least I can still do stuff. 'July fry' is definitely among us.

Funnel clouds and flash floods in MA where I am, very scary moments tonight. Everything is over now thank goodness. Still waiting to hear from my cousin who lives a few miles away, the news is saying that there are trees and power lines down, they think a tornado touched down there :(

I'm glad to say that here it is starting to cool down a bit. For the past few days my fan at work has only been blowing the warm air back in my face, but today I actually felt it blowing cool air! :D

Hurricane Earl is coming much closer than they first thought on Friday...there goes the electricity for sure.

Our OHIO weather has been very nice - 90s all week, but Sat. we will have a high of 68. Looks like fall is headed our way.

I'm awaiting Hurricane Earl's arrival tomorrow night and no more heat please.

Hurricane Earl  from 6:00 this evening to 2:00 a.m. according to the NWS. 30-50 m.p.h. winds and 2-5 in. of rain. Hope there`s electricity on Sat.

First rains are hitting here right now. Got some supplies, Yards been picked up and got all my portables charged and ready to go just in case we do loose power. I'll throw in a CW dvd if that happens. ;) Hope it doesn't get that bad though...

On a good note Earl is taking all the hot air with it. So it should be pretty nice Saturday and Sunday.

Earl stayed mostly out to sea, further than they originally thought.....just very little rain, almost no wind.....but the weather forcasters did they`re usual good job of spreading panic...hurricanes, floods, plagues of locusts and everybody`s gonna die....after a word from our sponser...that`s the real reason we`re here, isn`t it?

Maybe they'll report 3 inches of snow tomorrow while they are at it, lol. They do have a lot to gain by instilling fear in the viewing audience. What they will do for ratings sometimes, ugh....

It was 113 in downtown LA yesterday, the highest it's been in recorded history, EVER. It was over 100 at work yesterday and even when I got to my car at 4:30 it was still 98. We had an unusually cool summer, so I can't complain, but we're definitely feeling the heat right now.

Currently about to get hit by Tropical Drepression 16, which will likely become Tropical Storm Nicole later tonight. Things are starting to blow around but the bad stuff should be here later tonight and earlier tomorrow morning. The good news is is that they don't expect this to be a big "wind event," but we're going to get an incredible amount of rain so I feel bad for people who live in areas that flood easily. The only thing I'm worried about is my car. My complex parking lot tends to flood.....I might have to move it tomorrow.

Waiting to see if school will be cancelled tomorrow. I only have one class though.....

Got my flashlight, batteries, loads of water, a few canned items. Ready to go!

we`ll get some of the wind and rain leftovers from that Thursday night and Friday morning.

We may not get the unending snowfall of other places, but it can be sharp, sudden and vicious.  I was in for a surprise last year when I woke up to a foot of snow...at 1600 ft, here that's rare.

WE Had a huge Hail Storm this morning

It is 6am and 65 degrees here. It is supposed to reach 74 later today.

Well a couple of days ago we still had green grass...until yesterday when we got a foot of snow!!
Wasn't expecting that! And more to come tomorrow  :D

That's about what it will be down here for Thanksgiving, and this time of year is my absolute favorite. Not only have we had a few cold fronts come through in the past few weeks, but the humidity has gone way down. It's so pleasant being outside!!! I absolutely love it.

Last Monday was bad.  One of my stores is above the snowline and on that day they didn't lift chain controls until the early afternoon (Company policy is that we don't go beyond chain control).  So I get up there and there's only about 18 inches , but the stores running its generator since they lost power the Friday before.  So I'm thinking...'no problem' I can still stock my stuff...walk into the backroom..pitch black.  Those little emergency lights were useful only in that they told me where the wall was.

Well.....you got your wish! All it took was a little pixie dust.....
Time to get the sweaters and woolly socks out.  :D

Unfortunately, this doesn't mean a snow day tomorrow, since all the clouds are gone now.

All we have to hope for is a cold day

At our Church we start the Dawn Mass for Advent on 15th, continuing for 9 days until Christmas Eve.
It is a beautiful Filipino tradition called Simbang Gabi, after which we have breakfast provided by
the Filipino community at our Church.

The only problem is.....Mass is at 4:30 am......so I will be up early in the freezing cold!

COOOOOOOOOOOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And most of us FLORIDIANS don't have the right kind of clothing for this kind of weather!!!!!

This morning I called a friend of ours who lives in Ranier MN, just North of International Falls and just South of Canada.....

He said it's -22F and he's staying home today!  :D
He won't starve - he has a freezer full of venison and fish.

He's a huntin' shootin' fishin' type of guy, retired from the US Navy then retired from Fed Gov't.
No doubt when it warms up 10 degrees or so, he'll be in his fishing cabin with a line down through the ice.
Reminds me of Walter Matthau in "Grumpy Old Men".

i ventured out into the freezing nebraska afternoon for a walk to the shopping plaza up the hill from my house. glad i wore my tall warm boots, as there is snow on the ground that is deep in places:) all for an lks....and pixie stick run. totally worth the sugar rush....

We picked up about 6-8" of lake effect snow (compliments of Lake Ontario) last night.  Snow amount not all that much but the winds are drifting it pretty good and it's tough to keep the roads open.  Result?  Schools in the area are closed. My son and his family are cosy at home, they have a 4 wheel drive and can get everything they need in the village.
My brothers live in the frozen North....Yorkshire. Thank God they have good heating, plenty of food,
and do not need to venture out on the roads.
My relatives in Ireland are coping well.

    Here in Kentucky, we've scarcely seen the ground without snow all month--very unusual!  We had about 4 inches of snow on the ground for Christmas and an additional inch today!  Highes in the mid-20's.  No real complaints though, as it is mostly snow and not interfering terribly with travel.  :-\

we are having a warm up here but thats not good. We host the Winter Classic (big outdoor hockey game) on New years Day  and we may get LOTS of rain! Thats not good for the ice. At last - we got a taste of our Florida weather today.
The next few days are forecast to be from 76F to 79F, with nights at around 56F to 59F.
Big crowds are expected to watch the dropping of the "big orange" at midnight New Years Eve.

I guess we can take the big comforter off the bed......until the next cold spell.
O'Malley loves that comforter.....he is not allowed onto the bed, but he snuggles under the edge of the comforter
as it touches the floor.

It is cold here, but sunny during the day.
In the early hours of this morning, O'Malley wanted to go for a walk.
Dave said he would walk him, I was to stay home and have a cup of hot chocolate ready.
It was 31F......23F with wind chill factor.
We have our air/heat set at 68F, that's when the heat comes on, which rarely happens.
We have a huge down-filled comforter which is sooooooo cosy.....so Dave has "hibernated"!

Yesterday I heard a report that 70.9% of the contiguous (aka: lower 48 states) is covered with snow.

That is a lot of snow on the ground all at the same time!  :o

Maybe the Maya, or Inca? were correct about 2012 being the end of the world? I know if the Cubs win the World Series in 2012, I plan to stock up on supplies big time!

A good point though about cold and snow. I was on my way home yesterday after buying some groceries at the CVS thats close by, and I tripped on an uneven sidewalk and went down pretty hard. I pulled my head back and flung my bags. carrying primarily 4 2-lt diet cokes, out to the side so i wouldnt get some freak injury falling on them, or having them somehow twist and fall on me. So my chest and belly hit hard, but winter clothes and the snow padded my impact. That would have been a real OUCH if I had on just a t-shirt and hit the concrete sidewalk in summer.

On a quick side note...I must be careful when opening those bottles now, as they got shook up pretty good. A few weeks ago I openned a 2-lt diet coke and it must have been shaken at the store somehow because it was a "SHHHHHHHHHHHH" shocking sound and the pressure carbonization caused the soda to go all over my kitchen floor! The good point about that is it forced me to clean, and believe it ior not, diet coke can be used as a cleaner.  :o

With the windchill this morning it was 28!!! in FLORIDA!!!!!! This is horrrrrribblee!!!!! i dont have warm clothes!!!

You should keep some warm clothes, even here in Florida......go to your closest thrift store.
I have bought some lovely Aran sweaters....and a gorgeous brand new "hand-made in Ireland" Aran coat for $5.
I have a lot of cold-weather clothes because I need them on my trips home.

You should dress in layers....and wear a hoodie to keep your ears warm!
I bought some thermal undies from WalMart.....not very glamorous, but wonderful in this weather! :D
When our tropical weather comes back, put the sweaters in space bags and store them away.

It`s pretty cold but very sunny! Hopefully the snow will melt :D :D

The snow has stopped, but if you saw the snowfall amounts for southern Ontario on Wednesday, you might have seen St. Catharines (where I live) got about 24 cm (around 10 inches)! I definitely prefer it without snow, but oh well!

Meanwhile a funny thing has happened here. It has warmed and been absolutely delightful in recent days. In fact yesterday it was 67 F... the warmest 16 January since 1920! But the really good news is the Sierra Nevada Mountains are loaded with snow (and winter isn't over) and the valleys have received loads of percepitation. This late spring and summer promises to be a very good "water year"  for our longsuffering farmers, and a good range condition for our cattlemen and sheepmen.

It's been really nice all week. Sunny skies, temps in the 70s. I hope it stays a least through Saturday so it'll be just beautiful when I go to Disneyland.

heavy snow right now...a guy shoveled the driveway(3 car lengths long) for $20...be back to do it again this afternoon..no extra charge.

On this side of the Sierras it's been foggy, quite a bit.  I'd be driving down the hill on US 50 and right around the sand station that's just west of Pollock Pines I can see the valley and Mt Diablo beyond...except the Valley was a sea of fog breaking on the mountains.

Beautiful weather here in Disneyland! Sunny skies and 64 degrees! Perfect weather! I'm so glad the good weather held out for today! ;D

Right now it's -10 & feels like -15 (that's 16F, feels like 7F for those that don't want to do math). We're also under a winter storm warning (like most of you I'm sure). We're forecast to get 20-30cm of snow starting tomorrow & into Wednesday. It's also supposed to be blowing snow... ugh! For those that are wondering, this is the same storm that's in Texas (where I am is St. Catharines, ON, near Niagara Falls). This system is HUGE. :-\

3--5 inches of snow tomorrow  changing over to sleet, rain, then back again through Wed...endng Thurs, morning.

They say this big storm could bring .5 - 1 inch of ICE! This is gonna be a bad one.  >:(

Snow and Ice no, but the one time I've been to Florida we had a thunderstorm every afternoon usually start around 2PM ( I think this was during May or June, about 15 years ago)   At least it was warm rain.

From 1st June through to November there is usually a thunder storm every afternoon, and sometimes worse.
It's known as "Hurricane Season"!
Thunderstorms can last anything from half an hour to all afternoon.

My brother Terry once asked me when would be the best time to bring his golf clubs over to FL.
I told him November, February and March. He had some great golfing during those months.

It is going to be in the 70s while Celtic Woman is in FL.
We may get some rain, especially on Saturday, but as you say....at least it will be warm rain!  :D

My perfect life - weatherwise - would be:
mid-November to mid-February in Florida
mid-Feb to mid-April in Spain & Italy
mid-April to mid-August in the UK & the rest of Europe
mid-August to mid-Oct in Ireland.
mid-Oct to mid-Nov.....visiting friends in VA and TN.

snowing right now...as I have to travel into Providence  in less than an hour to get my chemo pills for the week.... >:(   much worse tomorrow...changing to sleet, freezing rain, all rain then back again ending as snow.

Colder than 21 below Zero right now here in Laramie, Wyoming.  If the truck was not running (all night) the reading would be even lower.  Forecast was for 30 below.  At least it stopped snowing.

It turned out to be 27 below with a wind chill of 47 below.
Then I drove up the hill (Sherman Hill) where the wind chill was 60 below.  BRISK!

tried to get to Providence...no way..bumper to bumper traffic...route 95 is a parking lot..took an exit and came back home...WHITE OUT conditions...we still hold the record for the most horrific weather in the history of human civilization. Now we`ll get an ice storm  tomorrow on top of todays snowstorm.

Right now I have relatives visiting from upstate NY, and when they wrote on Facebook that it's going to be a cool week, in the 60s, all their friends back home, where it's supposed to be below freezing and have a couple of feet of snow, get jealous. :D

We got lucky from this big monster storm,only got rain

Only cold weather and gusty winds here.  However, the entire state is going through scheduled rolling blackouts.  We're told it is to prevent the demand on power bringing down our sources for longer periods.  While I've not read it, I've heard that we're funneling some power to other states while they repair damaged power lines (from ice and wind last night) and reroute power.  Naturally, there's a lot of grumbling here, but I feel bad for those further north, with lots of snow & ice and near 0 temperatures.  Be safe, all.

The wind yesterday was KILLER!!!! I was driving across a bridge on the Ohio River and my car was shaking side to side from all the wind! EEP!!!  :o

Well we didn't get nearly as much as snow as they originally had forecast. I think we got about 15-20 cm (which isn't bad). It really wasn't bad in the morning, it got worse later (1-2pm) & stopped in the evening hours. School was cancelled/closed yesterday though! Back to the norm & class from 5-8, later though.
