Seeing as how this will require no traveling and therefore no missing work (because hopefully I will be a gainfully employed attorney by then) and no ridiculous travel costs I think I will have to check it out!  :D

The PBS sweet lady said that Orlagh would be coming to Atlanta. Now I just need an official posting. Don't see it yet.  I am crossing my fingers.

I just checked it out myself and it now shows only the two December shows with three added appearances at Borders stores - 2 in North Carolina and 1 in Boston. In Denny's message, he stated the tour dates would be listed on Orlagh's website November 1st so I don't think it was a case of posting the dates before they should have. Perhaps, some corrections had to be made or updated. Let's wait and see - believe me, I am just as anxious as everyone to get the full schedule!

I'm afraid if you call the Pentagon Jim, the first four rows of every show will be filled up active duty military. :D

When they do release the dates is like CW where you have to pledge for tickets and does Orla do an official M&G like CW where you have to pledge for the tickets?

Fare as I know tickets to Orla's concerts are sold by the venues. I have not heard of any PBS M&G for an Orla concert.
From what I heard she just hangs around after her concert and meets the fans that want to met her.  However there are some Borders stores hosting M& G with Orla. Check her web site for one near you. I know there are two chances to meet Orla in  North Carolina. One before her concert 12/4/2010 2:00 PM

Wow! :o  Oh, but for a thimble full of Órla's energy!

Orla is "on the road again". A quick look and I see 5 and 6 shows in as many days for, say, April and October! Lord willing, I plan to attend a couple of these.

Go Órla go! I will frequently pray for safety and well being of the entire troupe thru the spring and fall.

I am just stoked that I'm getting to see her in December, but I see Charlotte on the "Coming Soon" list!!!!!!  We will have to see if that one works out!!!!   ;D ;D ;D

they list Pittsburgh, Erie, and Cleveland in the list of dates to come. Thats great news. Looks like they have a few days between 4/23 in Albany and 4/28 in Colimbus. These 3 cities are right between. And even if the concert dates drift into May, its all good. I am cautiously looking forward to this and will feel much much better once we get CW's schedule

I just received Orla's newsletter and it states that tickets for her concerts WILL be offered by PBS during the airing of her Celtic Christmas Special. So find out when the special airs on your local PBS station and be ready to pledge!! It did not mention M & G but I would be willing to bet there will be some.

Although Im not so sure that Ft Lauderale is even do-able for me.

There seems to be a span of almost 2 weeks empty btwn Memphis, TN and Bethlehem, PA.   My only hope at this point is that they will add some more venues in the general southeast area.  Otherwise, its not looking very promising for me to be able to see her next year.
I need my Orla "fix" at least once per year!!!!!!   :'(

I just spoke to Jerry Kest from WVIZ-PBS in Clev. OH. He is looking for volunteers to do a pledge drive with Orla Fallon on Dec. 1 from 7:30 - 11:30 PM. Orla will be in the studio for this pledge drive. He can be contacted at 216 916-6156 if you can volunteer. They are also doing a pledge for Celtic Thunder that night.

I have a feeling he won't have any trouble finding volunteers!!  ;D ;D ;D

Órlagh's tour schedule is crazy!
Especially for a wee girl from an Island where a trip up to Dublin is considered a major journey.
If she went into a pub in Knockananna and told the locals the mileage she will be doing,
they would tell her she was "away with the faeries".

For example on 1st April she will be in Harrisburg PA, on 3rd she will be in Roanoke VA,
then back up to Philadelphia PA on 5th.
That's like going from Crookhaven, on the South coast of County Cork, up to Ballyhillion, on the North coast of Donegal,
and back again! No Irishman in his right mind would consider such a journey - not even by air, if that were possible.


I agree Melissa, we need more dates down here in the Deep South (FL, GA, AL, MS, LA)
Órlagh could even pop home on Aer Lingus direct from Orlando, if she's feeling homesick by then.

Hey Órlagh - our Church (Holy Family near DisneyWorld) has a new Concert Hall with great accoustics and sound system,
 and seating for about 2,500.....We would have no problem filling the place.
I'm sure Father Ennis (from Derry) would be thrilled to see you! :D

In the be-careful-what-you-wish-for department (this is excerpted from an e-mail from PBA30 in Atlanta):
  ...and not only will we have Celtic Woman (with M&G!), but a special opportunity with Orla later in the year as well!
So, Orlagh will be performing in ATL among her other sites as yet unannounced. 

Awesome, Joe!!  Another possible chance to see her next year.  :D  Charlotte is on the list, too, so who knows? Might be getting to see Orlagh again next year if we're lucky! :)

    The Paducah date listed on December 4 is, I believe, Paducah, Ky not Illinois.  Probably the Carson Center there where Celtic Woman played last year.  A great venue!  ;) 8)

Yessssssss. After so long....Orlagh in my back yard in Albany, NY..... ;D :D. April 23. Not sure where yet. Till then, the Dec. 10 show in Rockport, MA is approaching fast......may finally get my Hard Times scroll autographed!  :D

It would be so cool to see her in Atlanta next year!  Katharine and I will still be in Clemson getting our Master's, but goodness, its too far in advance to know if a Wednesday would be feasible!  But its good to know now so we can be planning! :D

I received a concert alert this morning from WQED. I pay an extra $50 a year for these, and I get first shot at tickets. Its called "WQED Presents" You may have seen it advertised during shows as they air.

Also, Riverdance is coming on February 25.

So Orla, Riverdance, and of course the Celtic Woman concert have my credit card outstanding balance looking, well, outstanding. hahaha  :o

So...I just read on Orlagh's website that she will be at the Border's in Boston on December 10th at 1:00PM...guess who is just gonna be there at the same time??? ME!!!! LOL Just so happens I work just down the street...YESSSSSSSSS!!!!

Anyone going to see Orlá at the Somerville Theatre on April 16th??

I'm really excited to see Orla in Tacoma, WA in October, but I'm anxious about the tickets. I know it's early, but on her website for ticket information for each venue, it just shows links to your local PBS stations. Is that where the tickets will be on sale? PBS usually charges a lot to benefit their organizations. And how will we know when the tickets are going on sale? I signed up for newsletters from both Orla's and the Rialto Theatre's websites, so I hope that will help me know in time. I want to be in the front row!  ;D

First of all, Welcome to the forum!! It's always great to see new members logging on.

As for tickets, I would suggest you call or email the Member Services dept. of KBTC and ask them if they are currently offering OR will be offering tickets to Orlagh's concert in October at the Rialto Theatre. Many PBS stations have already had their pledge drives in December. However, as you may be aware, these pledge drives are held periodically throughout the year. I pledged for tickets with a Meet & Greet with my local PBS station for Orlagh's show in Bethlehem,PA and can tell you that the VIP tickets were VERY reasonably priced compared to other M & G packages I have pledged for through PBS.

Also, you may contact the venue itself, the Rialto Theatre, and ask them when tickets will go on sale to the public.

Hope this helps and Good Luck! I can guarantee you that attending an Orlagh concert will be memorable.

Thanks Susan, I'll try what you suggest. So, do you have to be a member of PBS to purchase tickets from them? And will they start nagging me about donating to them?
I'm sure the theatre will advertise the show eventually, but I'm just not sure it would be soon enough to get good seats. Since the CW show itself usually sells out 3 separate shows in Seattle, I don't doubt Orla's show will be pretty popular too.

If I may step in for a moment with my experiences...

Pledging for tickets has also included membership to that local PBS affiliate. So no, I didn't have to already be a member.

As for receiving solicitations for further donations; I haven't received any.

It seems like PBS usually controls a small fraction of the total seats available. Typically the seats very close to the stage. That means there are usually some very good seats still available through the theatres or third party ticket sellers. If you only need one seat it's often possible to get a very good one, right up to a week prior to curtain. Order early when you need multiple seats together.

Órla is a sure-enough star. I think she will do very well in Seattle.  ;D

you do not purchase tickets from PBS, you pledge a certain dollar amount for a complimentary gift.  if the show is cancelled for some reason, no refund (your PBS station may give a refund).   i have been pledging for Celtic Woman tickets since 2007 with no problems.

by all means, CONTACT the venue. since PBS only has a small number of tickets, there should be great seats available when the venue does offer them.

Orla's site just leads one to believe the only way to get tickets is through PBS stations.

As I said, I'm signed up for updates from the theatre, so I'm hoping they'll tell me when Orla's tickets are on sale.

keep checking the venues website (often), go to their "contact us" button and find someone (the theatre director is probably overkill) to send a polite e-mail to asking for more information. you are going to get great seats.

i pledge to PBS anyway, nice to get a gift.

I am so excited that I will be able to attend one of the concerts this year! Though they are NOT the best seats but really do you need good seats to enjoy Celtic Woman??

my first show was row ZZ, any further back i would have been in the lobby. great show.

Absolutely not. Think about it, would you rather be sitting in your living room, knowing the concert is about to start, and the girls are just a short distance away and you're missing it? Or would you rather be in the very last row, but still be in the same room as the girls, taking in all that energy and excitement? Far seats are better than no seats, I say.

Just a tip, if you know you're going to pretty far back, I think binoculars would help. :)

Simply being in the same building as Órla (or Celtic Woman) is a thrill.

I've never been in the "way, way back" but I have been in the middle where, arguably the sound is the best. After all it is all about the music and the quality of the sound that is most important... right?

(At least that's what I keep telling myself as LOL!  my eyes strain to catch all the stage craft, choreography and every facial expression! :o ;D ;))

I'll enjoy the show no matter what seats I get, but I'm bound and determined to get the best seats possible. I don't expect to be too far back. I have never seen Orla live before, so that's why I'm especially excited to see her.

My seats at the first CW concert I went to weren't the best, but I still had a clear view of the stage. And last time, I was a little closer, so I could see their faces better. But next time, I'm hoping to get even better seats! I'm not planning to go this year, though, and there are no Seattle dates yet anyway.

As I posted up-thread if you only need one seat your chances for a good seat is excellent. It's when you are trying to string a number of seats together that you get pushed back with non PBS ticket sales...

Regarding the off topic... I think we "westerners" are hoping for a fall swing of CW through western N. America.

I contacted the venue, and they replied today, saying that they're still signing contracts and such, but they said the tickets could go on sale within the next couple of months, although it could be later. So, sometime this spring, hopefully. So I'll just have to check every so often.
BTW, I'm probably going to be ordering 2 seats, but I'll most likely order through the theatre, not PBS.

That's really cool!  You'll have to keep us updated. :) She is going to Greensboro and Atlanta, but those are weekdays and a long drive (especially Greensboro) and Kath and I will be in school again.  This could be a possibility seeing as its on a Friday and Charlotte is somewhat closer.  And if we can afford tickets! :D

*sigh*  All the PA venues are too far away for me. :(  I couldn't go see the Harrisburg show either because of school--hopefully, she can possibly squeeze another PA date in at some point?  If not, I guess I can wait for next year--I will see her live someday. :D

This is the Pittsburgh concert. It does get confusing though because usually this venue is listed as the carnegie Music Hall in Homestead, which is a town right by Munhall, which is maybe 3 or 4 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. This concert was originally scheduled for March 31 at the Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. Not the California Oakland, but the Pittsburgh Oakland. hahaha

On a side note, off topic, just to ramble on about some trivia. (UH-OH!) 

Homestaed is an interesting place. The "Battle for Homestead" occurred there in 189?. Andrew Carnegie and Henry Clay Frick sent in Pinkertons to crush the steelworkers union but they ambushed the Pinkertons and the Pa Governor had to send in the national guard. Plus Homestead was home of the Homedtead Greys Negro League baseball team. Plus in the 1950s an air force plane made a crash landing in the river next to the Homestead Bridge. Lots of rumors that the military pulled the plane out of the water at night and covered something up. Did it have a nuke on board? Biological or chemical weapons? A VIP passenger (possibly an ex-Nazi scientist hidden and protected because he hated Communists and was helping us?) Modern day Homestead no longer has a steel mill. The land now holds a wide variety of modern businesses. Red Robin, Borders, Target, movie theatres, all sorts of cool stuff.

The Oakland Carnegie Music hall also has interesting stuff right by it. Old Forbes Field was right next door until about 1970. When you see pictures of Pittsburgh Pirate Bill Mazeroski hitting his game winning 9th inning game 7 world series home run against the dreaded NY Yankees, you see this building's roof in the background! The little park next to it has an underground bridge! Yes, they filled in the hollow there and just kept covering stuff up, even the bridge that spanded it. Pitt's Cathedral of Learning ios right next door, and itsa the tallest university buidling in the western hemisphere. A log cabin is across the street from the carnegie, a replica of the first Univ of Pittsburgh building from 178?. The Phipps Conservatory is nearby, and during the G7 summit a couple years ago, all the world's leaders met there, and protesters ran amuck around the carnegie. I suspect Orla would loooove Phipps Conservatory. All sorts of plants / flowers there.

One month from today, our girl will be back in the States performing in Cleveland and the next evening in the Pittsburgh area!!

WIsh I could go to a show this year but so far nothing near me or anything like that :(

So Katharine and I bought tickets! We're going with our mom who loves Orlagh as well! :D This show is a Friday and only a couple hours away and we couldn't pass that up!  I'm so glad we get to see her again, even if we don't get to meet her.  Her concert was amazing last year and I would have been sad if we couldn't have made it to any this year!

New tour date just announced:  Orla will be at the Renaissance Auditorium at the Dayton Art Institute in Dayton, Ohio on Sunday October 2, 2011 at 7:30pm. Tickets are now on sale. There are still front row seats available. I believe the prices are $35.00 - $49.00.  Got mine!!! Can't wait to see her again.

Orla will be beginning the second leg of her solo tour the end of this month. If you haven't done so already, I strongly encourage you to try and make one of her concerts. They are listed on her official website under "tour": www.orlafallon.net

Anyone who has had the privilege of seeing Orla perform in concert, accompanied by some incredible musicians, can tell you that it a very special evening and one that you will not soon forget!!

    I'm in for the Dayton show on October 2!  I can't wait to see her in concert again!  :o 8)

    For those of you who live in or near any of these cities, it is important that a good audience showing be made at these cities for her initial appearance there.  Venues which don't do well the first time around in terms of ticket sales may find themselves left out in favor of other venues in succeeding tours.   :-\  Such are economic realities of touring!  Therefore, do what you can to help out with promotion when Orla is in your area!  ;) :)

Tonight's concert in Memphis is SOLD OUT!!!!

Writing, as I am, from Pacific Time Órla has done her magic in Memphis and made the people very happy by now. The entire facility and concert hall she filled with her beautiful music is very modern with very ligh colored walls and ceiling:

Orla begins her swing through the West Coast tomorrow on her Fall tour. I hope all you forum members in the Washington state and California areas have your tickets - if not, WHY not?!!

Orla is unbelievable in concert and is joined onstage by some VERY talented performers in the likes of Dan Shea, Amberly Rosen,  and Tin Cup Gypsy. That's a lot of talent up on one tiny stage!

All the reviews should tell you what we Orla fans already know - a night with Orla is a night in heaven!!

Awwww she isn't coming my way.

Saturday Night!  We have been waiting a loooong time to see her again.  Just a few days more!

I was sad to hear that Órla's San Diego concert was cancelled, but I believe there are still tickets available for her Malibu and Irvine shows.
