 When I click on the "Chat" option at the top of the page the computer screen I'm working on tells me that I need a special plug-in for this option. Are there any experts out there who know how to bypass this?   :-\

The only plugin you need to see the chat is Adobe Flash. As that is the platform that the chat runs in, if you don't have it installed the chat won't work. You can download Flash here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/).

Hi. I thought creating a new thread but I figured this thread would be able to answer general chat questions.
So here goes... I accidentally clicked "Chat" instead of "Logout" (they're so close ::)) and for two days now it's shown that sunflower is "currently in chat" even though I haven't logged on in a while.
It's no big deal but I thought it was interesting and wanted to share.  :)

Eek, sorry about that. The chatroom uses a popup window to log you out of the chat program, but if you are the last person in the chat and you have a popup blocker turned on than it can't log you out and you are stuck in there as a zombie user. All it takes is for someone else to go in and than leave and once that new user is logged out the zombie user disappears as well. I usually catch them and make sure that they aren't there for too long, I just missed it this time. You're not listed as in there now.

While we're on the subject, does anyone ever use chat? Seems like a neat little feature, but I never see any "real" members in there.

I wouldn't mind using the chat more often. I remember when I first joined the forum, I was on there all the time. But sometimes it's about timing. Maybe I'm there, or maybe my zombie doppelganger is there but no one else joins in. Maybe I'm on the forum at the wrong time. ::)

I"m not really sure. People used to use it a while ago, especially during New Year's Eve. But now hardly anyone goes on- probably due to timing around the world.

That's a good point. We have members from so many different countries, and even from one coast to the other in the US is three hours. Would be kind of cool to get a bunch of us in there on a day when there's big news - a new member, or a Tour announcement, or a DVD release - and chat about it live.

   Rich used to schedule chats routinely to play and discuss CDs and DVDs.  Now would be a good time to schedule a chat and play the Home for Christmas DVD.  We would synchronize the time so that we all could start the DVD at once and post comments throughout.  It was a lot of fun.

   We had chats with Lisa and Orla participating, as well as Deirdre once.  :)

Actually, that was an idea thought up by a member one night in the chat and one that became my responsibility. Rich only ever attended if he wanted to or if I was MIA for whatever reason. We had really great response to them at first, but the last one we had maybe only 4 people showed up. I'm perfectly happy to do one for Home for Christmas if you all want.

I'm  sure  there  could  be  enough  interest  generated  for  this  topic. It  seems  to  be  fresh on  people's  minds  right  now and popular. 

As long as it is at a time when I am at home and online, I'd be there.

As in reply to the earlier comments, I wish I could have been here when the girls were active here.  That would have been amazing.

You could probably count me in too, as long as it's not during work hours. Nights or weekends would work, just need a few day's notice so I don't plan anything.

Would be nice to talk to people while who "get it". None of my friends have really caught the fever, so I'm always watching alone.

   I recall you always did a transcript of the chat too, which was great, but must have been a lot of work, Lindsey!   I think interest waned sometimes where a chat had already been held one or more times upon a DVD.  This one being new,  I'd think it would be well-attended!  :)

yay!  I seem to remember one year we had  a Chloe chat going into the new year, so every hour it would be the new year somewhere and we would all wish happy new year to wherever it was midnight. I just thought it would be kind of fun to go into the new year with other forum members. I work till 6:30 tomorrow, so i can be on anytime after that... I live like 10 mins from work. Or does anyone know if any of the other forums are having a new years chat tomorrow? I know the Chloe forum is tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise, see you guys here tomorrw night?  i just also thought with everyone in different time zones, it would be kinda cool to welcome everyone into the new year at a different time. :)
