I've heard that there are a lot of good movies coming out. I thought it would be fun to read about what movies you guys want to see. I've saw some of you guys talking about a movie called "The Hobbit".

What's some new movies you guys want to see or new movies you have saw recently that you'd suggest to members on the forum? :)

I'm getting it Tuesday & will probably watch it on Friday due to school...:( But anyway, Wrong Turn movies are the bomb. If you are a scary movie lover you'd love these movies! If your not & get scared easily I'd suggest not to watch it cuz they are pretty disturbing movies.

 Speaking of scary movies. I don't think I've seen the latest  "Final Destination". Those are always delightfully gory.  :D   otherwise, there is the "Hobbit" that you mentioned I love fantasy and sci-fi.  There is a movie coming out later called "The Croods".  Which is animated one about stone age people.  i sure I'll think of more in the days to come.  Nice thread.....

Frozen (Disney's adaptation of The Snow Queen) --this doesn't come out until winter 2013, but the concept art is so pretty!  The Snow Queen was also one of my favorite stories when I was younger. :)

Agreed with the Hobbit(duh :D). Also looking foreward to the new Bond movie. The new adaption of Les Miserables looks great too. Further I'd like to see Lincoln, I believe it's already released in the U.S. As the title suggests, it's a movie about his life and the civil war.

There is also Oz: The Great and Powerful, a prequel about how the Wizard of Oz became to be what he is. Looks very interesting. Also, I'd like to see Man of Steel, a new movie about Superman. I used to dislike the superheroes from the comics, but I really like the Spiderman-movies, loved the Batman-movies, and this movie is from the same producers as Batman. It looks good so far.

Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines came out today! I can't wait to watch it! ;D

The next movie for me would definitely be Wreck-It Ralph. As a gamer and a Disney fan, it's a necessity :D

   The movie playing across the street from me is "Cloud Atlas".   But I'm going to wait to see it with a friend a week from now.

The Hobbit and Les Miserables. I'm most excited for Skyfall.

I wanted to see COWBOYS AND ALIENS (Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford) and watched it last night (dvd).

   Do you recommend it?   I like that kind of movie in general. 

Its been a very long time since I went to a movie theatre. But I might go to see the new Lincoln movie coming out. As long as he isn't hunting & killing vampires again!  :o   :D

Yes, it was pretty good.  (Target had the dvd for $10.)  It has bonus features, too.

I want to see Breaking Dawn Part 2. But I'm totally not going to see it this week, it will be so crowded.

   I want to see   one i saw advertised-  "The Life Of  Pi"  looks pretty good. And "Skyfall"  too.

Les miz is a def. go see (I know of a lot of the cast from twitter and that wer in the west end!!) very talented people and it should be really good! 
Cirque di soleil - looks interesting , a show on the big screen from all the different cirque productions
not sure of the name but a new one with Gerard Butler!! he is a soccer player! And I love anything that he is in!

Well, I'm going to see Skyfall this sunday (if all goes well).

Might be tempted to see Argo.

Will definitely see The Hobbit.

And I can't wait for Les Misérables, if only for Anne Hathaway (the way she sings I Dreamed a Dream brings tears to my eyes) and Hugh Jackman (who I saw on stage in Oklahoma ! in London in 1998, before he became famous playing some little known clawed mutant, or something like that  ;)  ).

Going to see Twilight with my cousin & friend this Friday! I heard it's supposed to be amazing! Can't wait! ;D

I've heard Lincoln has been doing well in theaters.

  " The Life Of Pi"   was pretty good- saw it last weekend.   :)

Twilight was good, but I didn't like the way it ended. I was a little disappointed. But overall it was pretty good. There was an awesome fighting scene!

I did NOT see that one coming during the movie! :D

I saw Twiight too, but I didn't really like it. I thought the fight scene was weird. :P

The fighting scene was weird, but I liked it! ;D I didn't know what was going to happened cuz you think someone is going to die, but they don't & the people that you weren't expecting to die do die! & then it was like BIG disappointment...:-\

Has anyone seen Life of Pi yet? I heard from my friends it was pretty good.

   I have !  I did like it.  It starts with some background of his younger life told in "flash back " style.  The scenery is beautiful, and there is a lot of respect  for various cultures.   Different questions about spirituality  and religion are raised. But most of all ,  it's a rollicking good adventure tale.  I recommend it. 

Eep! I want to see "The Hobbit" so badly! But what's all this talk about nausea and 48 fps at early screenings? :-\

48 fps is a higher film speed that allows for clearer and sharper images by reducing motion blur.  The Hobbit is the first film to be shot with this speed and since its never been done before, a lot of people are not used to it.  That would explain the claims of nausea and motion sickness that you've hearing in the early reviews.  Some people though have really taken to the 48 fps because 'it feels as if you're really there with the characters.'  Like 3D and IMAX, to each their own I guess.  :)  James Cameron announced not too long ago that he will be shooting his Avatar sequels in 48 fps as well.

Other than the film speed, I've heard nothing but positive reviews about the movie so far! ;D

48fps sounds like a great idea to me! Thankfully, I don't suffer from motion sickness in general so Yay! It's like Christmas has come early! :D

So does my Dad. :D He told me he even had a original hardcover paper copy of it at one time in his teen years. I'm not sure if he still has it or not.
Luckily we have some free movie passes from Cineplex, the big cinema company around here in Canada.
Still have to see Breaking Dawn part 2, just keep running out of time. :(

 I keep hoping that they will make the next one in the Narnia series.  They've made three of those already- they shouldn't stop now.   

I wanna see "The Butterfly Room" starring Erica Leerhsen! It's coming in 2013.

I kind of want to see "Anna Karenina". The costumes and sets look gorgeous!

Finally saw Lincoln, it was excellent.

I was really looking forward to the Hobbit, Skyfall, and Les Misérables.
I saw the Hobbit a couple weeks ago and loved it! I was a little disapointed that the dwarves didn't look like typical dwarves. They looked like short humans! I will admit that some of them were pretty good looking, but not dwarf looking! The music, however, is FANTASTIC!!!!!!
I just got back from seeing Les Misérables. If you go see nothing else, you must see Les Miserables! I loved the vast majority of it (which is high praise coming from someone who is usually critical to the extreme of new productions of this, my favorite musical!)

Does anyone know when the next Hunger Games movie will come out?

Oh and the new Star Trek movie is coming out in May I think...as you could imagine I'm pretty excited for that as well ;D

November 22 is Catching Fire.  :o  ;D Yes, I did have to say that! :D I'm looking forward to it. I hated everything about the whole story, but I had to read them and I have to see the movies......hate it.

I'm soooooo excited for the new Star Trek movie. Benedict Cumberpatch seems like he could play an awesome villain!

Oh. My. Gosh. I absolutely freaked out when I heard Benedict Cumberbatch would be playing the victim...how much more epic can you get?!?! I am so obsessed with that BBC show Sherlock it's not even funny. So excited!!! ;D ;D ;D

I love Sherlock, too!!!!! He makes such a great Sherlock! Martin Freeman is great as Watson, too!

Les Miz! I think it looks like it'd be fantastic! And I'm a guy who never really watches new versions of musicals. But it looks epic on a scale akin to the old musicals that everyone loves. Such as My Fair Lady or The Sound of Music or The King And I. The classical musicals are what I prefer. They're so grand and so powerful!

Also can't wait for Catching Fire. Loved the books so much. I was a bit disappointed with parts of the first movie. Hopefully they'll make this one better! Also kinda wanna see Silver Linings Playbook. Mostly for Jennifer Lawrence. She blew me away as Katniss in The Hunger Games! Fantastic actress. And very funny too!

And I'll give the next new Star Trek a try too! Mostly for Benedict. Cuz he's just incredible. But I didn't much care for the first one. It was okay. The action sequences were amazing. And I thought the cast was great. But the story just didn't grip me.

Not seeing any good action movies out right now! Kinda sad! Any suggestions?

I saw it!! It's excellent. I think it might be one of those movies where you have to watch it multiple times to fully appreciate it. But I thought it was one of the best movies of 2012.

Agreed.  It is very well done, and I appreciate their attention to historical detail.  I was fully expecting a hatch job given how Hollywood often does stuff like that.  As someone who spend 8 years in college and grad school studying history, it was refreshing to watch a movie which didn't insult my intelligence.

Daniel Day-Lewis better get the Oscar for his performance.

I'm not too sure how I feel about that new Wizard of Oz movie. I've loved the original since I was a baby, so...

 I'm curious about that  "Hansel And Gretel" movie coming up. 

I've heard from a lot of people at school & my friends that "Pitch Perfect" is the funniest movie they've ever saw. So I kinda want to rent that this weekend.

I heard a lot of good reviews about "Pitch Perfect" from people at school saying it was such a funny movie & how they watch it everyday & it's their favorite movie, so I watched it. I hardly laughed once through the whole movie. I was very disappointed. :-\

Saw Oz last weekend.  It was alright, but James Franco and Mila Kunis were miscast in my opinion.  Rachel Weisz was the best of the main characters with Michelle Williams right behind her.  Michelle Williams was also gorgeous with longer hair.

Hopefully will see "Olympus Has Fallen" this weekend if I don't make it to Dallas.

Ive been watching The Bible mini series on The History Channel on Sunday nights at 8pm EST  :D

Same here.  Other than how rushed it is (which is understandable given the time constraints) it's been pretty good.  Another 2-4 episodes would have helped a lot.

I watched that Tom Cruise movie, Jack Reacher, recently. It was pretty good, but to be honest I don't remember much of it. I watched it at a midnight showing a couple weeks ago and my friends and I were unfortunately being those annoying people in the theater that won't stop talking and giggling. ;D

i've seen the new Star Trek movie 3 times already, it was soooo good! Also I saw Monsters University tonight. I liked it. It was cute but it wasn't as good as the last one...but you can't beat the original Monsters Inc. Seriously.

I can't wait until Despicable Me 2 comes out, and the second Hunger Games movie. World War Z is another movie I'd like to see...also Man of Steel. I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of time at the theaters in the times to come. ::)

It's a great movie.  Daniel Day Lewis knocks it out of the park, and as a historian, I found it to be very well done and not a butchering like so many movies today are.

What was the violence content and lauguage?

Language is mild, you can hear worse on cable TV.

Most violence is at the beginning when Lincoln tours a battlefield and a later scene at a military hospital.  If you know even a little about Civil War combat, you'll know why neither are very pleasant.

I want to see War Horse. It looks very good. I read the book!

I saw Death Proof a few days ago. Definitely NSFW, due to the amount of Swearing and a few other things I will not mention here (Rated "R" by the MAFIAA ::)). Great ending, but the beginning and middle dragged on for a long time, even though it was setting the stage for the ending.

Beginning and middle is 4/10 but the ending is 9/10. ;)

Hmnn... I can only watch PG 13 R rated films are not my kind of thing. i like staying in the PG13 kind of thing. But I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Saw Divergent the other day, and I wasn't impressed. The book's a whole lot better in my opinion.

Still waiting for the Desolation of Smaug. I loved the first movie. When is it coming out. OH YES! I really want to see the new Noah movie with russell Crowe.

The Desolation of Smaug comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray April 8th.

I'm waiting for the extended edition though. I enjoyed the movie but they cut a lot in the theatrical release, like the enchanted river in Mirkwood, and I hope to see more of Beorn too  :)

Yeah, I'm waiting for the extended edition too.  There were parts of the movie that I really liked, but there were certain scenes that I thought went way too fast or didn't have enough. :(  I think the extended edition is due in December. :)

Saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier last weekend and enjoyed it.

Will not go see Noah.  God did not destroy the world because mankind was cutting down trees, and God is never mentioned once.  (I can't stand movies that butcher the original source material, whatever that may be, to make a political point.)

Probably the next one I want to see is Godzilla.  Don't care to see it, but my friends will, so I'll end up getting dragged along to see X-Men: Days of Future Past and  The Expendables 3.

Will NOT go see Guardians of the Galaxy; it looks beyond stupid.

Saw Godzilla and X-Men the last two weeks.  Both were alright.  Godzilla was to me a "popcorn flick" and I'm not an X-Men fan so it's pretty much the same thing.

Have no fears, just got back from Christmas shopping, preceded By Star Wars.
It did not disappoint.

Saw "In the Heart of the Sea" tonight. I thoight it was pretty good. It had some very awesome graphics.

  The  movie   "Brooklyn"  starring  the  Irish  actress  Saoirse  Ronan  was  very  wonderful. I   recommend  it  to  all.   :)

I've just seen 'The Hateful 8'.

Very strong movie.

Very strong language and violence - be warned!

The first hour, although necessary, is is a bit slow, but hang on in there!

......the rest makes it a really good film .

Great acting and directing.

Now I've just seen 'The Reverant'

It must possess the most realistic Bear attack ever, C.G.I. or puppetry whatever - fantastic, so believable!
The C.G.I. of the Buffaloes later on though was a bit disappointing!
Overall the acting and directing was gritty and well done.
But!
I did not enjoy the movie.
I thought that the storyline was mostly weak and generally unbelievable.
Some scenes did not blend in very seamlessly!
I watched the whole movie but did not enjoy it except for that 'Bear' scene and a another scene about half an hour before the end.

Finally got to see All things must pass, documentary on Tower Records.  Was a local store/chain to me, spent quite a bit on books, cds, and DVDs in that place.

If I ever make it over to Dublin I have to swing by at least one of the Tower Records there.  They only survived because they became franchises before the bankruptcy.

 Jane  Austin's   "Love  And  Friendship"  .   

I suppose I still want to see Star Trek: Beyond, but I'm really disappointed how they've diluted and (in my opinion, disgraced) the franchise for the better part of the last 16 years or so. I'm not nearly as much of a fan as I was when I was younger.

I'm undecided on whether or not to get excited for Star Wars: Rogue One, especially with all the rumors surrounding the reasons for the re-shoots.

Independence Day: Resurgence ... I'm sorry to come across so negative with these but I think they'll find a way to make this a spectacular but vacuous movie as they have with so many other blockbusters. I love sci-fi and special effects, but there HAS to be some depth for me to be interested. I have similar feelings about Ghostbusters.

Kind of looks like if I get out to the movies this year, it'll be for the company rather than any intrinsic excitement about the movie.

Seen "The Conjuring 2" late last night, and it was truly the scariest movie I've watched in a longtime.

Finally got around to seeing "The Martian"

Star Trek  sometime this week too.

You  will enjoy  it  for  sure !   8) It goes  back  to  the old  fashioned  humor  and  old  fashioned  action  but  with great special  effects.

I saw it tonight.

It was better than the previous one (the Wrath of Kahn remake). Lots of action and it has its moments. The story had its moments, I suppose. I wasn't blown away but wasn't disappointed.

I used to be a HUGE Star Trek fan, but I guess I never got into the reboot as much as the previous series and movies. I do miss the days when Star Trek was about the great stories and the characters. I feel like the reboot is mostly serving up action to the masses and what used to make the franchise great being reduced to a light garnish.

They did do a decent job of honouring the ideals of the franchise in this movie, but it's just not the same for me as it used to be.

For what it was (a sci-fi action movie) it was pretty entertaining.

I dunno, maybe I'm just still spoiled from the ridiculously awesome masterpiece that was the 2004-2009 Battlestar Galactica series. Nothing else will ever compare to it (although Babylon 5 was very good at times).

One of the main things about B5 is that it was more or less written story wise before it went on air.  JMS designed it as a "video novel" all he really had to do in the end was write the scripts.. He tolerated very little in the way of network interference, only as necessary to keep the show running.

In the film industry most directors and writers don't have total or near total control, a lot of the time the marketing department of the studio has final say.  That's often where films fail; a director will be forced to make a film for marketing to sell rather than the marketing department selling what the director gives them.

Hard to say. I've heard it was awesome and I've heard it was terrible. I guess it will come down to taste. I haven't seen it.

I thought it was pretty good and interesting. I've always been a fan of John Krasinski, and I thought he did great with this movie. It had some nice jump scares, too! :D

I'm marginally excited for the "Solo: A Star Wars Story" movie (May 25).

I don't get quite as excited for these things as I used to and I'm not convinced the lead actor can pull this role off, but I might go see it.

Jurassic World 2

Saw it a few weeks ago. It much better than I thought it was going to be. It was actually pretty funny and well done.

I am seeing it today. It must have been released in Canada before the States ? 

I hear Jurassic World 2 they wanted to make sure this one is scary or if more scarier..*

The Solo movie? It released here around May 25th. I saw it on May 28 after Amy Rivard's music video shoot. ;)

I might be taking my little cousins to see "The Incredibles 2." ::)

I enjoyed Endgame.

Odd fact: I think that was the first time I went to a movie by myself because all my friends and family were seeing it in different places or at different times.

P.S. Never pull forward into a spot at a movie theatre unless you can pull all the way through. I got boxed in by 2 large pickup trucks on either side and a minivan in front of me. It was incredibly stressful backing out of that spot.
