Title: 2013 Christmas Tour Dates
Post by: Wind on April 03, 2013, 07:18AM
Because it's NEVER too early.
I just received the 2013/2014 season brochure for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and here's what they have:

Dec 22, Sunday 8pm
Celtic Woman: A Celtic Christmas

Well, it's good to know there will be a Christmas tour.

Going to have to watch for one nearby and/or hope they actually come back to my city.

"Let it snow...!"

I would definitely like to make a Christmas show.  Problem is, it's a short tour and you have to get lucky to get a show within driving distance.

I am still concerned about  the gals coming here this December as well.  The same lock out that cancelled them last Dec. is still going on with no sign of any real progress.    >:(   ???

Well, if they come back to my town, I hope some of our members from the region might come to the show.

I know MSC Opas is going to try to get them back, just no idea if the will yet.  I have someone who works with the organization who will keep me informed if she hears anything.

No CW Christmas show for me this year unless I travel to see it.  Nothing but cr*p shows announced today for this year, all but one of which I've never heard of before.

Have you seen a 2013 Christmas tour schedule?  I just looked on the CW site and none shows up.

I am very 50/50  on the christmas tour stuff! I would love to go if they come back to cleveland, def. would be a treat and one of the best christmas's for me.  But weather wise I have to worry about this town!! We've have had winters w feet of snow! very dangerous! And we do have the clevelan orchestra, but they are at severance hall, which is quite stunning but farther and not in a good area, even worse area than downtown! I wold rather see them when it is warmer/and sunnier out (this does not include wind!)  I would love to see there symphony tour but weather wouldn't e good and I rather wait till they come back here or radio city (perhaps both) I heard there symphony concerts gorgeous though! And prob. wouldn't catch them stage door since they fly from city to city on that one! (and we do have hopkins very close to downtown and plenty of taxi service in that area and the wyndham for an overnighter!!! Hope to find out the schedule soon! (prob. after june when they are done w the current tour!) plus I am sure our orchestra would be more than happy to play with girls! And they are not on strike!!

Doesn't look they've officially published one, but that wouldn't prevent other organizations from showing them on their schedule as Wind noted in the first post.

I grew up reading it and still have most of the books stored somewhere in a closet.

I also use this icon @ work for the company's IM program.

And just to keep this somewhat on topic, if there is a Christmas show anywhere within 3 hours of where I am, I'm going.  I would assume of Houston, Austin, DFW, Waco, San Antonio and the smaller big still decent sized towns within that circle that at least one would have a show if there is a full Christmas tour.

So, it seems the 2013 Christmas Tour has a new name: Celtic Woman: Home for Christmas - The Symphony Tour

They will be performing with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday, December 3, 7:30 pm in Charleston, West Virginia.

Yeah I agree.  I haven't been to see the last 2, because they never came close enough, and I can't go by myself (can't see very well), and I can't ask people to drop what they're doing to come with me all the time.  I hope they come closer to Roanoke, VA this time.

Only two shows listed, Dallas Texas on Dec. 14th and 15th.

The shows do not yet appear to be listed on Ticketmaster, at least that I can find.

Well, I wasn't going to wait for all the good seats to vanish or have to pay a huge amount extra aftermarket.  I wanted 1st row this time and got them for the Dallas show on Dec. 15th.

Section C-PIT, row PA, Seats 3-4.  Sadly, not the center section but close enough.

I'm so happy.  Nothing on this Earth is going to ruin my day. (http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p312/CO757300/GIFs/excited.gif)

They've added another show to the website, but I think they need a new webmaster.  I've noticed a lot of errors lately that get fixed days later.  (Such as the Symphony Tour showing it being 2013-2014 but now back to 2013 only.)

It says "Dallas" on the CW site, but the link shows it is clearly Atlanta.

December 22 @ 8:00 PM, Symphony Hall.

Tickets go on sale on June 21st.

It just seems that their webmaster needs to pay more attention.  I've seen several mistakes that get fixed after a day or two and some which last longer.  The graphic was changed to only show "2013" but the original link still says "2013-2014" so I think someone is just not paying very close attention.  Here is another error on the page.  The PBS stations listed for the Dallas shows aren't even in Texas; they're in Michigan.  Also, I don't think that PBS stations usually sponsor the Christmas shows.  Someone is just reusing the main tour's page as a template and forgetting to change almost everything.  At least they got the links working; originally the URLs were bad.  It's little details like that which webmasters should always catch, but this is me on my soapbox.

It seems to me that they're announcing it right around the same time the the hosting organization does.  When I was up in Grand Prairie, I saw that both CW and The Dallas Pops added the Christmas show about 2 hours before the concert started and then just before the finale, Chloe announced they were coming back to Dallas and that the tickets would go on sale right after the show was over.  I would bet we'll see a few more trickle out over the coming weeks, and then the rest all dropped @ once.

Fans in the Twin Cities, I have good news and bad news.

The bad news: I got a letter from the Minnesota orchestra saying that they couldn't workout a date in their calendar to reschedule the concert that was supposed to happen last December. Some might remember that the Minnesota Orchestra has cancelled/postponed all their shows (not just CW) at the end of last year due to contractual negotiations. So, long story short, no symphony tour in Minneapolis this year.

The good news: if you had already purchased a ticket last year, you'll get a refund.

I just  last  week  got  my  refund  from  last  Christmas 's   concert.  i'm  hoping  that  CW  will consider  talking  to  the  other  Twin Cities  option....the  St. Paul  Chamber Orchestra.  They  are well respected too.

I'm thinking 5-7 more will be added, maybe a few more if the tour starts at the end of November rather than Dec. 1st.  I'm just wondering what is going to be between New Jersey on the 10th and DFW on the 14-15th.  There's lot between NJ and Texas.

I still wish they were coming back here.  Stupid MSC OPAS and their stupid donors.  >:(

Yeah, I was waiting for the Atlanta show to go on sale to the public with my credit card in hand. On the very first day, the closest seats they had were the 17th row. Would have needed binoculars. I passed on those and the nosebleed seats that were available. Would have had people to stay with for free, too. Ugh. Must have sold most of them to ASO members before they even were offered to the public. I even called the local PBS station and asked if they would accept a donation in return for tickets, and they claimed they didn't have any, either.  :'(

That's what happened to me last year at the Christmas show here in College Station.  The best seats were taken/reserved for the season ticket holders and rich donors so I got stuck on the right side mezzanine, but it wasn't horrible.  That's why I grabbed seats in Dallas from as soon as possible.

And for anyone who is thinking about Dallas, they still have some second row seats available for the 12-15 show.

This seemed to be an issue with the Believe tour this past Spring.  It seemed like most of the "good" seats were reserved for season ticket holders of the various venues.

They don't have a clue @ this time.  My e-mail was the first they had heard about the AUS tour being canceled or about Chloe leaving.  They said they'll get back to me as soon as they have an answer.

I think I heard the collective "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" all the way here in College Station.

Tickets go on sale on 8-12-13 at 6:00am, although I think they're available with a promo code.

***

And for some odd reason, the Atlanta show disappeared a while back from the CW site, but I don't think it's canceled.  It's still on Ticketmaster and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra website.  I think it's that "Bands in Town" app that they now use just sucks.

Decided to check my e-mail before going to bed and found I had a reply from the Dallas Pops.

As of right now, the Christmas tour is still a go.  The person who replied couldn't go into specific details, but unless something changes, CW is still planning to have the full Christmas tour in the US.

I assume this means they have someone to replace Chloe (either permanently or specifically for the Christmas tour) and we'll hear about it in due course.  Of course I'm really hoping it will be Meav, at least for the Christmas show, since I never got to see her live when she was with the group.

So, fingers crossed that they're right and the Christmas tour goes on.

I  think  your'e  right ....and  you know  how  I  feel about  the  replacement  possibilities.   :D

I take it that if it's Meav, you'll be finding a show to attend.
My  general  plan  is  to  travel  1 or 2 states   over  no matter  who ....and  ANYWHERE  in  the  US    is it's  Meav.

Right now, Carmel, Indiana seems the closest for you.  Other than Dallas and Atlanta, everything else is East Coast so far.  Dallas is starting to fill up (finally) but still has good seats for now.

Seeing how the shows are being spaced out (a day between except for Dallas and the ones in Lynn, MA & New Brunswick, NJ) I'm thinking there are shows likely for at least a few of these dates,  7th, 12th, 17th, 20th or 21st with Atlanta being the end on the 22nd.  Unless they fly, which I knew they prefer not to do, I doubt there is going to be an West Coast show or anything west of Texas.

You're welcome.  I'd hate for anyone to miss a show, or at least miss the chance for good seats because they didn't hear about a show as early as possible.  It cost me good seats last year for the Christmas show and nearly for the Grand Prairie show this year.

I don't see it listed on the venue's site, but it appears legit.  Looks like tickets have been on sale for a while.

Well they finally got the CW website up to date with that we know, although there are 2 errors.  They have the Carmel shows on the 18th when it's the 19th according to the venue website, and they misspelled Center as "Cneter" for the Shippensburg show.  That "Bands in Town" app they now use for the tour dates is not very good.

Dec 01 Ferguson Center for the Arts, Newport News, VA
Dec 03 Clay Center for the Arts, Charleston, WV
Dec 04 Sands Event Center, Bethlehem, PA
Dec 05 Luhrs Performing Arts Center, Shippensburg, PA
Dec 09 Lynn Auditorium, Lynn, MA
Dec 10 State Theatre, New Brunswick, NJ
Dec 14 Music Hall At Fair Park, Dallas, TX
Dec 15 Music Hall At Fair Park, Dallas, TX
Dec 17 The Peace Center, Greenville, SC
Dec 19 Center for the Performing Arts, Carmel, IN (Date corrected)
Dec 20 The Venue at Horseshoe Casino, Hammond, IN
Dec 22 Symphony Hall, Atlanta, GA

I'm still betting for 1-3 more shows to appear; likely on the 6th, 7th, 8th, or 12th, with the latter the most likely because of the time between shows and it would make sense for them to do one between New Brunswick and Dallas.

No, I decided not to come this time.  I will be saving my money to see the girls at least once (hopefully more) in 2014.  Maybe we can attend a show at the same venue next year.  I believe that Lester, Roy and Scott will be coming up from Houston to see one of the Dallas shows.  You might want to get together with them.  I can truly say they are some of the nicest guys you will ever meet.

Will all depend on which show they are going to.  I'll be @ the Sunday (15th) show since I could not make it on Saturday, even though I would have preferred it since I wouldn't have had to take a day off from work on Monday to drive home.  I will be driving from College Station early Sunday morning to get up there with time to spare in case there is the usual traffic jam on I-35/35E.

Wish you were going to be there. I'll be there for the Saturday evening show. Scott will be there for Sunday's show. Roy I don't believe will be attending. AggieGuy I understand you will be there on Sunday. Not sure of all the arrangements Scott has made but he loves to meet other fans.

AggieGuy I understand you will be there on Sunday. Not sure of all the arrangements Scott has made but he loves to meet other fans.

It'd most likely have to be at intermission since the earliest I can leave College Station is Sunday morning.  Even if I left early enough to make it up there in time for lunch (and more than something fast like Subway), I can't be sure we'll make it in time.  I-35 is notorious for catching me in a traffic jam between Waco and the 35 split.  Going up there in May I was stuck for an hour, but thankfully that was in the morning and the show wasn't until that evening.  This time being at 2:30 means I have a lot less margin for error.  I'd much rather have driven up on Saturday morning and then attended both shows, but alas, the person coming with me has to work on Saturday and cannot get out of it due to a special event that evening.

I looked @ Ticketmaster and the 15th is all but empty still.  Only the Pit sections are sold out and some of the center Orchestra section is.  It's better than the last time I looked, but way too empty for my liking.  Hopefully it will fill up before the show because a theater that empty is an insult to the girls.  The show on the 14th isn't any better right now.  I'm hoping that once we get closer to Christmas, it will be publicized more and fill up.  Of course, being the CW dork I am, I made sure we're front row.

I'll try to make sure I can find Scott @ some point.  If I had joined this site just a few days before, I could have meet him and the others when they came to College Station to see the girls since I was @ that show as well.  I could have even shown them where "McFadden Hall" is located since they wanted to send a picture of it to Susan.

Edit: Fixed my bad grammar.

I'll let Scott know. He most likely will contact you. He will be in the Pit seating so, very close to you.

A few months to go so plenty of time for tickets to be sold.

I guess I'm a CW dork too. I love it.

You have to catch them literally within 24 hours @ most and usually with 2-4 max to get front row; or pay out the nose aftermarket.  By pure luck I happened to find out that the tickets for next year's Dayton show were on sale and had been for about 2 hours.  I got the last two front row tickets for me and Sarah.  Pretty much the first 15-20 rows were sold out within 6 hours although a few random seats were still open as close as the second row.

This is why I try to make sure everyone knows about a show and a reminder when tickets go on sale if that date is known.  I would hate for someone to miss a show or miss the seats they want.

I'd still go even if I couldn't get front row, although I probably wouldn't if I had to sit so far back that all I could see is a spec and barely hear anything.  Last Christmas I got stuck up on the right side mezzanine which aren't bad seats, but not spectacular either.  Of course the acoustics in that venue completely suck and always have.

Hi Lester,

I didn't right at that moment because I was so disappointed, but I probably will go anyway. There were lots of seats, just nothing close. Best was the very last seat next to the right-hand wall many rows back.

I was spoiled by getting a 5th row seat from my local PBS station when they came here in March, and it was so amazing I can't get used to the idea of being far away.  :)   But I'm sure I'd still enjoy it. It's only a 4.5 hour drive, not terrible.

Thanks, AG - I know you always do your best to let people know ASAP. I thought I'd be in good shape on the first day, but I guess I let too many hours go by. And I know what you mean about those aftermarket sites - holy cow. I checked the ATL show I'd previously tried to get tickets for the other day, and they said they had 4 tickets in the orchestra rows "A-L." First of all, where are the tickets? A or L? Or somewhere in between? That's a huge difference. And they were $473 per ticket. On Ticketmaster it said they were $125 or something like that (albeit all sold out).

I appreciate the expertise of experienced concert goers - I have been a fan for a long time, but because of my family situation, I've only been able to think about attending concerts recently. Clearly it'll take some time for me to get the hang of it and know how to be in the right place at the right time with credit card in hand. :)

Thanks guys.
Rob

Hi AggieGuy! :)

Lester told me you were attending the Sunday show in Dallas, and yes I am too! :)  If you won't be able to meet up until intermission, then you'll KNOW who I am by then... since the Dallas show is looking to be my only concert for the tour, I'll be the one yelling and screaming and hollering at the conclusion of every song haha.  Seriously, I'll be in pit section C, row A.  There will be a couple other fans there that I can introduce you to as well.  Let me know if you will be able to get into Dallas earlier, I'll likely be there early in the day, I've never been to this venue before.  My previous experience at Dallas was the 2012 Believe show at the Verizon Center.

Hubert, sorry you won't be attending, I would have loved to see you again.  Perhaps next year...

And for all who are interested: Roy will not be attending.  He was the one who originally bought Lester's and my seats for Dallas.  He needed to sell them off because he needed the cash for other critical expenses.  I don't have to tell you that he would have preferred to be there in body, but you can be sure that he'll be there in spirit, I will make sure of that.

In fact, I will see to it that Chloe is there in spirit, as well.

I'm going to try to get to Dallas before noon, but I just can't be certain.  My plan is to leave College Station by 8:30 at the very latest and hopefully earlier.  Since it's a Sunday, I'm hoping traffic on I-35 won't be bad.  I just have a really bad track record if getting stuck somewhere on I-35 at least once every trip.

You're going to be sitting right next to me most likely.  My tickets are Section C-PIT, row PA, Seats 3-4 which is dead center of that row.

I've never been to this part of Dallas either so I don't know much except it's by the Cotton Bowl and Texas State Fair.  It's also not the best part of town so probably good that it is not @ night.  I was at the Verizon Theatre back in May, but usually when I go to Dallas I'm over by DFW International Airport.

I'll be leaving in the morning to get to Dallas definitely before noon, so as to have an early lunch with a couple other fans coming in from out of state for the show.  You're welcome to join us of course if you can get into town early enough, we haven't worked out yet where we'll be eating but I'll keep you in the loop as to what my plans are.  Looking forward to December! :)

OK guys. Enough is enough! I will be in seat 7, row B, section E, orchestra left.  It is an aisle seat.  Yeah, I can't bear the thought of everyone being there without little old me.  I will swing this trip somehow.  I will have to stay overnight for two nights which adds to the expense but I will handle it.  I may get a room in one of the communities east of Dallas and drive in the day of the concert (Sunday afternoon).  I certainly dread that hideous Metroplex traffic.  But I look forward to seeing Scott and Lester again plus Eric for the first time and some others.  Scott, keep me in the loop as far as meeting for lunch before the show.  I hope it will be somewhere close to the venue as I don't want to wander around Dallas looking for it.  Could we get as close to the venue as we did in San Antonio?  Nah!  :)

Yep, I've got tickets for seats 3 and 4.  I wonder who has #2?  Anyway, I will do my best to get up there as quickly as possible, hopefully by noon.  Will all depend on I-35's and it's less than stellar reputation.

Glad you're coming.  I'm not sure of any good restaurants right by the venue, it's kind of in an odd place.  There might be some; Scott and I can do some research.

As for hotels, there are plenty to the east of the venue along I-30 and it runs very close to the venue itself.  Might want to get one in Rockwall since it's a little ways out of town and would be easier to get out of town the next morning.  My hotel is in DeSoto which is 20 miles south, but I can't check in until after the show.  Got it there for the same reason, to get out of town easier.

Right now I'm considering staying at Sulphur Springs which is 1 1/2 hours east on I-30.  I'm coming from the east so that will do nicely.  I can stay there Saturday night, drive in to Dallas Sunday and back after the show.  Then when I get up Monday morning I will not have to deal with Metroplex traffic.  Just curious Eric, why are you coming up I-35 and not I-45?

Nah!  :)

Just read this!  Excellent Hubert!! :)  Can't wait to see you again... it'll be just like San Antonio all over again! ;D  We'll have a decent-sized group at the Sunday show now... it always seems that whenever I'm at a show it snowballs into something bigger! :D :D :D

Just curious Eric, why are you coming up I-35 and not I-45?

Just habit I guess.  I can pretty much get anywhere in DFW from I-35.

It'll be fun.  Now we just need to get at least another forum member to join us.  :D

Fantastic Hubert! Looking forward to seeing you again. Although it looks like most of you guys are going to the Sunday show.
I'll be there Saturday evening. But I'll be hanging around for lunch on Sunday.

It will be great to see you again, Lester.  I will never forget us on the front row in San Antonio and the choir dancing right before our eyes.

With those dates filled in, that means we may see one or two more appear on the 11th, 12th, and/or the 13th.  I guess it's also possible there could be something on the West Coast after or between the Vegas shows.

It's a miracle - thought my chance to see the Symphony Tour had vanished when I couldn't get tickets for ATL and stay with my friends down there.

I checked my phone today and I had a missed call, voice mail and text from them. They were minding their business flipping channels on a lazy Sunday afternoon, and landed on their local PBS station. They were re-running "Believe" and offering "Premium Seats" (lower cost) and "Orchestra Pit" seats for the Symphony Tour stop there on Dec. 22 in exchange for memberships. They snapped up four Pit seats, and if I can get an affordable flight down there, it looks like I'm going.   :o  I don't believe it. Thank the Lord. My friends are mostly doing this for me, but maybe seeing CW live, they will catch the fever too.

Two interesting notes: they were not offering M&G tickets, and the sales pitch they were using claimed "this will be your only chance to see Celtic Woman in the Atlanta area in the near future, because they will not be coming during next year's tour." So it really looks like they're not going to Atlanta with the Emerald Tour. That's surprising.

It is surprising that they're not going back to the Fox; they always go there.  Then again, they aren't going to the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie and they've been going there since the beginning.

If you're still looking for tickets, shoot me a PM and I'll see if I can help with finding the best flight.  One good thing about being an aviation nut is I'm good at finding the best fares.  Just remember, the closer to the departure date, the more the tickets cost.

Very glad you'll be getting to go.  The Christmas show is really something special.

They seem to be changing venues in other cities as well and skipping cities that they always go to. When they come to Seattle, Washington they always come to the Paramount Theater, but for some reason this tour they are skipping Seattle and are performing in an arena in Everett, Washington. And also not performing in Spokane, Washington on the east side of the state, and going to Eugene, Oregon instead of Portland.

Owensboro, KY on December 21, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.!

KET is accepting pledges for the show beginning at Mid-night tonight.  http://www.ket.org/
During it's Winter Pledge Drive (11/30-12/8/13) the Christmas DVD will be broadcast several times and pledges will be taken with the CD, DVD and show tickets being offered at various pledge levels.

A M&G will be held at this show.  Tickets for front row with M&G are $500 each or $1000 a pair.  This show will apparently substitute for the show traditionally held at the Louisville Palace.    :o

I hate to say this, but $500 per ticket, even with a M&G is really way too much.  I know it's not CW setting the price, but really,  how many have $500-$1000+ just lying around @ a moment's notice?

KET has been charging that price since 2008.  They must be satisfied with the number of takers at that price, as they have not lowered it.  I've not heard of any higher ticket prices anywhere.

The Atlanta show has exactly 1 seat left.

Sadly, both Dallas shows are still 60-70% unsold.

In Arkansas they used to charge $300 for VIP seats plus M&G.  Then they lowered it to $250.  It is also $250 in Louisiana.
Unfortunately, CW is not coming to either state next year.

CW is running a contest for HFC tickets.

They'll be a winner for each stop on the tour.  It does take Facebook to enter.
