Title: The Emerald Tour
Post by: Believe on October 04, 2013, 12:59PM
Hi everyone!

Hope everyone is well and sending a special hug to Misha!

Anyway, I wanted to ask what is the Emerald Tour? Is a new tour dvd? A new tour completely than Believe? Please post your answer here.

It's going to be celtic woman's new 2014 tour. and I think this thread is in the wrong place too. you might of wanted to put it under "the show". not Everything else if you're talking about Celtic Woman.

Thanks for the info Misha. ;) I wouldn't mind having both (South Bend and The Emerald Tour) on Blu-ray, but I can assure you, I WILL be going CWazy on this tour and buying whatever I can snatch ;D , on my parents dime of course. :D

My guess it wil be some kind of 'bridge' tour, old and new songs. Like the Isle of Hope tour, which had some old songs and new songs which were than recorded in Songs From The Heart. Most of the time there are two years between each recording, so I guess this tour will run untill 2015 and they'll record a new dvd. But it's only guessing.

or possibly around late August early September which is usually the norm! Should be interesting to find out!

I hope they keep Nil and Teir Abhaile Riu! I like the way its set up for the last tour. Having a dancing number in both acts is so much fun! I don't really want them to make Nil the opening cuz it was so much fun the way they performed it this last tour! Especially cuz the choir and band caught to come out and party in the aisles! SO MUCH FUN!

I really hope they keep TAR. It looks like I'll actually be going to Pensacola. I haven't ordered my ticket yet, so I don't know where I'll sit, so my probability of being Lambenated, while very low, is still not zero.  It would be really nice if the stage at the Sanger Auditorium is deep enough for the carousel maneuver.

The carousel also depends on the size of the choir. Last tour, they would've had plenty of room to do it on most stages. The problem was they only had 4 choir members (2 girls, 2 guys) and so they couldn't manage it. I hope they go back to at least 6 choir members. It'll be interesting though. I wonder if Dermot will still be touring with the choir?

I have wondered that also.  Since Chloe left it is possible that Dermot may not be back.  They could have done the carousel this year using Ray as a substitue for the missing choir member.  I doubt they will go back to six choir members.  They used to have eight choir members and four singers.  It has shrunk over the years.  Now they did not even film a new television special for the new tour.  It looks like they will use the South Bend concert this year to promote next year's tour on PBS.  The management is always looking to keep cutting costs.

I personally wish they'd bring back Spanish Lady for the encore number. I REALLY miss that song! Only thing is it'd require the stage to go back to the older designs. The girls can't exactly swish those voluminous dresses while charging down that flight of stairs.

I would guess he'll probably be done after the European tour.  It would be a real surprise if he continued on tour without Chloe being there.

In the second Believe tour, one of the pipers stood in for the missing choir guy, but at the show I saw, they didn't have room for the carousel, so they danced it as three couples.  Of course, it will be a while before we know if TAR is in the Emerald tour.

The extended and full version of this song? I think Lisa K, Meav and Orla were the original singers of this song.

I think At the Ceili might have been on the very first tour (when Méav was on maternity leave) so Deirdre might have been the first girl torn between two guys.

That being said, I'd love to see it in full in the show again, maybe they could do a couple of 'Ceili' numbers back to back (like NSL or TAR and ATC). I always thought they could do Spanish Lady as a sort of Ceili song.

I'd prefer only one Ceili song. I looove them, but it should stay a very special entr'acte. At The Ceili is my favourite, and the original singers were, btw, Lisa K, Órlagh and Deirdre. I would love them to do it again! Susan as Lisa and Lisa and Mairéad... Umm... Dunno, I know too little by Mairéad, yet.

I would like them to do Ni Na La as a ceili song!

Negative on the first point. I LOVE the Ceili numbers! They could do all three of them (At The Ceili, Nil Sen La, and Teir Abhaile Riu) and I'd LOVE it! I doubt they will though. I imagine that'd be a bit exhausting on the girls.

Most they've done is 2. SFTH they used Nil as the opening number and ATC was the true Ceili number in the second act. But I prefer the way they did it for this year's World Tour with TAR being the Ceili song in the first act and Nil being the Ceili number in the second act.

Also, I love the idea of Ni Na La but I'm worried that its too much like Nil Sen La. So I honestly don't see it happening. But with the addition of Mairead Carlin, who plays the accordian, I can see the girls doing a version of Whiskey In The Jar similar to The High Kings version. But NOT like that God-awful version Celtic Thunder came out with. Ugh! Hated that version.

I can't speak for the original versions, but if you compare CW's version of Nil with Orla Fallon's Ni Na La, the lyrics are pretty similar. At least the translations I've come across.

The show in Europe is still the World tour they performed this year in the States, the Emerald tour starts in 2014. However, Mairéad Carlin sings She Moved Through The Fair & Scarlet Ribbons, wouldn't suprise me if she'll also sing that on the Emerald Tour  :)

To be honest, I'm kinda meh about She Moved Through The Fair. It was never one of my favorites. It was a nice duet between Chloe and Lisa, mainly cuz it showed off the range of both girls. But its not a number I've really anxiously anticipated.

I doubt the European tour is going to give us a lot of clues as to the Emerald Tour.  Even Scarlet Ribbons might not be featured next year.

The real question is whether or not the Australian tour will be the current one or the Emerald Tour.  Since it was originally supposed to have been this year, it could be either.  It also could be something totally unique.

That's also perfectly true. It could even be a couple songs from Mairead's solo album (I'm only saying this cuz I've got no idea what the tracklist for said album even is) which is due out early next year.

On the website it says the Emerald Tour will begin in February (so I'd assume the Australian Tour will be the 2013 tour).

weeeeeehoooooo! I am excited!  I did see that today on facebook! The only thing I am confused about and will ask when I get the tickets is it a 8 or 7? I had head both? * I can handle because that was Cleveland's timing (7 w m&g) and 7 there wouldn't be bad! I wil find out but kinda excited!! Anyone else going??

Was it through David? If not, then how? Thanks! :)

Mairead Carlin joined CW at David's request following Chloe's unexpected departure and has been with the group for the recent European, symphony and Australian tours.

Celtic Woman has added a second show in Dayton at 7:00PM on May 18th.

And dang, it's already 1/2 sold out as well.

I wouldn't be able to go anway. I can really only excuse one concert a year.

If two center front row tickets were available, I might have thought about it for a minute, but nothing even close.  Truly, I couldn't justify the extra expense right now.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend tonight's performance (Saturday, 3/29/2014). So rather than waste the ticket I'm offering it for free. You must have a TicketMaster account for the transfer. Please respond on Twitter to @Dee_Panda_Bear. Ticket is front left orchestra, row F.
