Title: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Eric90 on April 12, 2014, 12:19PM The only Celtic Woman dvd I have at the moment is Emerald, as I was watching it last night I started thinking about getting the other ones, I plan on buying all of them eventually but which one should I get first?
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: CWazy girl on April 12, 2014, 12:22PM Get whatever you want. No one's telling you what you should get. Unless you have a favorite. Which one do you think you want to get first?
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Eric90 on April 12, 2014, 12:34PM I know I'm just terrible at making decisions lol I was thinking about getting "A New Journey" that was the first one I thought of. it was also the first Celtic Woman CD I ever bought at least I think it was.
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Emer Dreamer on April 12, 2014, 12:35PM They are all wonderful, but if you want to get a good feel for Celtic Woman history, I would recommend starting with the original DVD and heading on through the rest in order. My personal fave is ANJ...but they are all worthwhile. 8)
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: ShiningBright on April 12, 2014, 01:00PM All of them are lovely, my first was ANJ. Just watch some videos on YT to pick your favourites...
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Eric90 on April 12, 2014, 01:02PM right now it's a tie between A New Journey and Believe. A New Journey for the nostalgia factor and Believe for Lisa Lambe lol
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: urbanracer34 on April 12, 2014, 01:19PM Why not get both?! ;D ANJ is great for the nostalgia and Believe is (IMO) one of their best. I <3 Lisa Lambe as you can probably tell. :D
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: ShiningBright on April 12, 2014, 03:39PM What songs and members are your favourites?
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Eric90 on April 12, 2014, 04:18PM Quote What songs and members are your favourites? too many songs to name lol I have over 50 songs on my MP3 player spanning all the albums but I have the most songs from the original album. I'm currently going back and listening to the albums again getting other songs that I previously passed over you know listening to voices I hadn't really focused on before, the members that spring first to my mind are Chloe, Mairead N and Lisa L. ( I kinda have a crush on Lil Lambe lol) Orla has a great voice too which I've recently been taking a second listen to cause when I was younger I was more focused on Chloe cause we're the same age. so yeah I'm an young/old fan doing a bit of catching up lol Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: urbanracer34 on April 12, 2014, 04:27PM (I kinda have a crush on Lil Lambe lol) Who doesn't around here! :D If you do have such a crush on Lil' Lambe, go with her songs first. ;) Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Emer Dreamer on April 12, 2014, 04:50PM On the other hand, If you start with the original, you can see Meav in her stunning "MerMeav" dress or go to ANJ and see her perform the "funnest and flirtiest" Dulaman ever ! ;D Both of these make Meav quite "crush-worthy " too. ;) ( not to mention that voice of incomparable beauty)
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Eric90 on April 12, 2014, 05:57PM Quote go to ANJ and see her perform the "funnest and flirtiest" Dulaman ever ! I watched it on YouTube and it was...different lol very flirty indeed I see what you mean about Meav. Lisa's and Meav's version are both very different in tone Meav's is flirty like you said and also something else I can't quite think of the word at the moment and Lisa's is energetic what with her spinning around and such. Also I watched the performance of Teir Abhaile Riu from the Believe tour and I noticed that Chloe and Lisa K pulled the spoons from their dresses and gave them to Lisa L the look on her face when they had her the spoons is funny like she's saying " ew gross I'm not playing these well okay" lol Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Danny on April 13, 2014, 02:36AM Definatly A new journey!
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: MaryNorth93 on April 13, 2014, 05:05AM I'd say A New Journey & Believe. All of their DVD's are worth getting though at some point.
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Kimberly AJ on April 13, 2014, 05:31AM I want the Emerald concert! :)
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: ShiningBright on April 13, 2014, 07:14AM Don't forget the Christmas DVDs! I know we have Easter at the moment, but they are lovely the whole year round. I think CW's Christmas songs are their best. :P

Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Maloney on April 13, 2014, 07:45PM Too many to choose from!
I think I would start with Emerald and work backwards. Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: isle of hope on April 13, 2014, 08:14PM A New Journey. :D
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Eric90 on April 14, 2014, 04:56PM OK I've decided to get both "A New Journey" and "Believe"
Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: urbanracer34 on April 14, 2014, 06:19PM OK I've decided to get "Believe" 100% chance of falling more in love with Lisa Lambe or your money back. :D Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Emer Dreamer on April 14, 2014, 06:41PM OK I've decided to get both "A New Journey" and "Believe" ...also a chance to fall in love with Meav too. Her ANJ "Danny Boy" will move your heart and soul. :-* Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Eric90 on April 15, 2014, 03:25PM Quote ...also a chance to fall in love with Meav too. Her ANJ "Danny Boy" will move your heart and soul I know, I love her version of Danny Boy. It's the definitive version of that song for me every time I hear a different version of it I'll say "nope not better then Meav's" I didn't really like the newer version they did for Emerald but it grew on me too so I like both but Meav's is still better lol Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Traveling Spaceman on April 15, 2014, 09:19PM What's interesting about the one you have (Emerald) is that it's really the first time a random tour stop was filmed and released. All of the other DVDs were made-for-DVD events. Everything is bigger - bigger sets, bigger band/orchestra, bigger choir. And at least one more vocal soloist, in most of them.
The Helix show is great to see how it all started, and experience the original cast. A New Journey is my all-time favorite, and the only time there were 5 vocalists. Too many all-time classic songs in that one to list. The castle in background is awesome, and there's just something about an outdoor show that's cool. The Greatest Journey (a kind of "Greatest hits" compilation) has a mix of songs from the first two, and a documentary as bonus content. You could start with that one to get a feel for both shows in one. Songs from the Heart was a huge production, too - different castle. The only DVD with Lynn and Alex as part of the cast. Lots of classics in that show as well. Believe was the first one filmed in the US, and doesn't have quite as much of a traditional celtic feel - more pop songs. Although that was the first appearance of Teir Abhaile Riu, only without the "Singing Fight." And of course, it has our L'il Lambe singing "A Spaceman Came Traveling." ;D So after all that, I have no idea which one you should get first :D but you really can't go wrong with any of them. I also like James' idea of going in chronological order. Title: Re: Which DVD Should I get? Post by: Eric90 on April 15, 2014, 09:56PM Quote What's interesting about the one you have (Emerald) is that it's really the first time a random tour stop was filmed and released that's probably what makes it so good and also cause it's probably such a fun show to go. Quote Believe was the first one filmed in the US, and doesn't have quite as much of a traditional celtic feel - more pop songs yeah I took that into consideration so I got Believe and A New Journey so it's like a good mix of something old with something new |
