Title: Favourite Lisa solo
Post by: ShiningBright on September 22, 2014, 01:51PM
You have two choices ;D I don't feel able to choose so far... Of course, I will add new solos when she gets them :)

Edit: I've voted for My Lagan Love and Black Is The Colour :)

what only 2? you can't make me choose! lol I love them all she has such a sweet voice I even have the songs she sang with Sweet June. Hmm well if I only have to pick 2 I guess I'll have to go back and listen to them all again to decide perhaps even more then once lol I've never heard her sing "My Lagan Love, I could probably find it on Youtube though, probably just a live version not a studio version right?

Yes, it's a live version and it's on YT :)

I lover her Sweet June songs, but I wanted to only include her CW solos :)

I can only pick 2?  That's soo hard. :P

I picked Spaceman and Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Bridge Over Troubled Water has really helped me through A LOT lately, and hearing/seeing it live just melted me.. <3

I voted for Black is the Colour, which is easily one of my all-time favorite CW-songs (I still wish they would performed it on tour, oh well.. ) And Dúlaman, even though I prefer Méav's vocals, Lisa's performance makes it such an fun song live  :)

I  have  to go with  Auld  Lang  Syne....     I  love  how  she  lets  more of her  natural  accent  out on this  one...   8)

I went with "Black Is The Color" because it's so enchanting and mesmerizing

and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" because it blew me away the first time I heard her sing it. It's still the one I stop and listen too when it passes by

Also I got to show some love for "Away In A Manger" I've always thought of it as a kids Christmas song so I never really took it seriously then I heard Lisa sing it and all I could say was "Wow!" in fact I have said "wow!" about every single song I heave heard her sing!

Went with Dulaman and Bridge.

Dulaman because Lisa's version is the best version bar none in my opinion. I've seen her and Lynn perform it live and she just gives such a lively fun performance of a song that, I thought, was worn out and tired when she first joined the group. But she revived it and made it her own! I can honestly say that, before Lisa Lambe showed up, it wouldn't have bothered me in the least if they'd removed Dulaman. Now, they'd need to give her another fun song that she can really perform!

I just had to go with Bridge Over Troubled Waters. That's Lisa's signature in my opinion. Its so beautifully sung that every time I hear it, I just can't help but feel content. SO glad its on an album. Only regret is that the album version isn't the full song.

do you mean she "tones down" her natural accent when she talks and sings?

I think  it's  because  Auld  Lange Syne    is  a  Scottish  melody  in  principal.  ( Scottish  is  Celtic too, after all)    It  stands  to  reason  that some  Irish  folks  would  pick  up  a  Scottish  brogue.  it differs  from  Irish, of  course, but it would  be  like  a  Spanish  speaking  person  adopting  a Portugese accent  or  something  like  that.  Meav  has  sung  a  few songs  in  Scottish  Gaelage  as  well.  There are words in  A L S  that are  strictly  Scottish  in origin.  So I  think  it's  the difference  between  Scottish  and  Irish  brogue  that I am noticing  here. If  that  makes  any  sense.   :-\

it makes perfect sense, I'm trying to learn to speak in Irish and Scottish accents so I listen very carefully when the girls talk If I'm singing an Irish or scottish song or something I tend to adopt the accent also lol and it confuses people when they hear me lol
