Congratulations to Celtic Woman on another successful album launch!!!

 As  if  there  were  any  doubt...      :D

I updated the Voices of Angels Wikipedia page with the chart performance above.

I also added the Digital Album chart performance.

I added back the iTunes chart debut. I suspect the auditors removed it last time, but if so, it was done with explanation to me, so I'm adding it back.

Voices of Angels was the #1 Billboard World Music Album for the second week in a row!

It's still doing strong near the top of the Classical and Classical Crossover charts too!

It got all the way up to 77 in the Billboard 200 chart in its opening week! Pretty strong considering all the changes over the past 12+ years, although the feats of A New Journey, which reached #4 on the Billboard 200 chart, or the original Celtic Woman album, which spent 87 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, are unlikely to ever be matched. Some of the things above our angels on that list are a sad reflection on society I'm sorry to say, but I guess not everyone has exceptional taste like the fine folks on our forum.

They will always be #1 in my heart.  :D

I updated the chart performance.

Voices of Angels got a pretty good boost from the Grammys  :D

They got another nice boost from the Voices of Angels tour.

They got back to #1 on the Billboard World Music charts!

Let's keep them at #1! Keep on sharing their music and how much you enjoy them with everyone you know! You never know how much they might mean to someone.

True  Tom...   Many  folks  on  the  forum  here ( current  and  past)  have  almost  universally acknowledged  CW  being  a  positive influence  in their  lives.   :)

They're still doing well in the charts.

They've gotten back to #1 a few times since I last updated it.

Voices of Angels is back at the top of the Classical chart!

This week, they were back at the top of the Billboard World Music chart, Classical chart, and Classical Crossover chart!

Voices of Angels got back to #1 on the Billboard World Albums chart this week!

With the release of Celtic Woman: The Best of Christmas and the upcoming release of the Homecoming DVD / CD combo that PBS will be marketing during their pledge drives, I think Voices of Angels has more or less run its course on the charts.

Voices of Angels was a presence on the Billboard Classical Albums chart for the first time.

In terms of the Billboard World Music chart, Voices of Angels did pretty well, taking the #1 spot 3 more times than its predecessor, Destiny.

Destiny:

Analysis / Speculation:

- Destiny got a bit of a boost from the Grammy nomination near the end of 2016 and ultimately stayed on the charts longer than Voices of Angels.
- The Grammy nomination doesn't seem to have translated into net growth of the fan base, if the Voices of Angels chart performance is any indication. It still did well, but I'm a it surprised it didn't do even better.
- I don't have numbers on total sales. It's possible people just got Voices of Angels more promptly than Destiny, so VoA didn't stay on the charts as long.
- Destiny had lots of new songs, whereas Voices of Angels had quite a few re-arranged classics
- Destiny still had Mairead Nesbitt. It's possible some portion of the long-term fan base moved on with her as they did with Lisa K, Chloë, etc.
- Destiny was the first album without David Downes at the helm (and the first without any of the original singers as principal performers). People may have gotten Destiny because they were curious or some got it not knowing Downes was no longer the musical director. Their surprise at the new the new sound / the new girls in Destiny may have carried over to Voices of Angels performance.
- Both albums took a bold new approach.
- It's possible some long-term fans didn't like the re-arrangements or new sound on VoA as much as I did, leading to word of the album spreading less than it did for Destiny.
- Destiny was arguably their most Irish album yet, and was released to coincide with the Irish Centenary (Easter Rising centenary). That may have given it an extra boost.

Celtic Woman may never again have the massive following it had during its heyday, but the group still has many loyal fans like us. I think Homecoming (CD/DVD/tour) should do well enough to keep the flame alive, but as always, it's up to us fans to keep spreading the word about how amazing this group and its music remain.

Destiny remained in the top 15, finishing at #13.

Voices of Angels has made a comeback on the Billboard charts for a few weeks.

I have some theories as to why:
- Some consumers thought Voices of Angels was the album for their latest special / DVD (it's actually "Homecoming"). Many of the songs on Homecoming are VoA tracks and was based on the VoA tour, so the confusion is somewhat understandable.
- Year end Christmas shopping (The Best of Christmas was also available, but I suppose some people got VoA instead because The Best of Christmas was a compilation album).
- The album was #1 on the 2017 Billboard year-end World Albums Chart, which attracted some additional interest.
- Celtic Woman finished 2nd in the 2017 Billboard year-end World Albums Artists chart and VoA was the group's most recent studio album at the time of that announcement.

Side-note: in case anyone is wondering, Voices of Angels didn't get nominated for a Grammy. I'm not really surprised. It was a crossover album and may not have peaked the interest of pure Classical Music or World Music voters. Their loss  ;)
