Title: No Home for Christmas Tour (2017)
Post by: CWazyTom on November 24, 2017, 07:35AM
As we have all likely known for some time, there is no Home for Christmas / symphony tour in 2017.

I have a few thoughts on why that might be:
- The girls / band / crew need and deserve a break from their busy tour schedule
- Perhaps their is some issue performing the old arrangements (there were other speculative threads regarding that) and they didn't have time to compose and rehearse new arrangements
- They can still use some / all of the old arrangements from when David Downes was with the group
- Attendance is lower for Christmas shows than regular tours? (people traveling, some fans don't celebrate Christmas, etc.)
- The girls are traveling all over the place to various PBS stations to promote the Voices of Angels album over the next few weeks. Hard to have a tour when the girls are scattered all over the US doing promos. If that's the explanation though, I'm not sure why it wouldn't have affected the HfC tour during the Destiny promo cycle.

I'd be interested to read your thoughts.

I agree that they tour a lot and being with family is especially important at Christmas! The girls should be allowed to be with their families then.

Personally, I would LOVE to see their Christmas Symphony tour, but they have never come to my city on a symphony tour - actually, I think the closest they've come to me on a Symphony tour was about a 7 or 8 hour drive from me.

We'll probably never know, but I can think of a few factors:

- Tara's wedding is coming up in January, maybe she has arrangements she needs to make in person.

- Mairead  Carlin made reference to a "special something" coming this summer.  Perhaps she is in the early stages of that special something and needs to be careful.

- Venue availability - a lot of places fill up for the season.

- The last show had cycled through three years and not enough new material was ready.

- Christmas doesn't bring in the numbers it once did.

If I had to guess, though, it probably has to do with profitability.  If it were possible to realize enough money they would do it, I'm sure.  Needing and deserving a break is really not a factor unless there were fatigue issues - professional entertainers know Christmas is a busy season.

I can't be imagining something special a-part from what we already received with this lineup. Special Artists Guest, some Former Member participation for one special.. Hmmm* VOA was special of itself! #GoTeam
