Title: If You're Irish Post by: CWazyTom on April 29, 2018, 09:12PM If You're Irish (2008)
This album has 5 songs featuring Deirdre Shannon: Fields of Athenry She Moved Through The Fair The Isle of Inisfree Love's Old Sweet Song When Irish Eyes Are Smiling This isn't a new album by any means, but I haven't seen it mentioned before here before, (at least not by this name). ;) The album has full, spectacular orchestration and I like all of Deirdre's songs on the album. There are a bunch of places you can get it, including: iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/if-youre-irish/284994578 7Digital: https://www.7digital.com/artist/various-artists/release/if-youre-irish-965029 Amazon (Mp3 or CD): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079QF7CR3/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp If there are budget concerns or you want to listen to it first, it's available on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/72E4g846yyNvmwogNBlwxl Title: Re: If You're Irish Post by: CWazyTom on April 29, 2018, 09:16PM While I thought the powerful orchestration was great for most of the album, I found the arrangement of Galway Bay ... questionable.
Maybe I'm just biased because it's one of my favourite Chloƫ songs, but I found the arrangement to be highly over-orchestrated, almost comically so. I didn't think it fit the song at all. Oh well, I guess not EVERY song can be a winner. After all, it's not a Celtic Woman album. ;) Title: Re: If You're Irish Post by: Celtic Chan on April 30, 2018, 09:22AM Thanks for the links, Tom. I'll have to give it a listen. :)

I've been re-listening to this a bunch recently. It's quite fun to listen to. Deirdre's songs are all great, but I think my favourite track is A Nation Once Again. Even though it doesn't feature Deirdre, it's catchy and the powerful choir and booming orchestration are awesome! The orchestration and choir are so strong there are a few songs where you probably couldn't even make out the words as they're performed. You'd have to know them in advance. LOL! :D |
