Title: Chloë's Return Post by: Celtic Chan on January 22, 2020, 12:49PM Hello, everyone! I just had to stop in because I heard the news that Éabha is stepping back and Chloë is returning for the 15th Anniversary Tour (and Susuan for a few shows).
I remember back when I was in middle school, Chloë announced that she was departing from Celtic Woman. I never thought that I would ever see Chloë come back to Celtic Woman. And now, I am in college to see her return! That's so wild to think about. I am also shocked to hear that Éabha is leaving. I didn't think it would be so soon, but hopefully, it won't be forever (I know that leaving temporarily usually leads to forever). Either way CW always has a way of keeping us on our feet! ;D (https://bloximages.newyork1.vip.townnews.com/greensboro.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/a/2f/a2f7061e-008b-586c-9656-3b0ffca50f21/5e2863b473567.image.jpg?resize=1024%2C1343) On another note, can we talk about how amazing she looks in that dress! Title: Re: Chloë's Return Post by: Jim M. on January 23, 2020, 07:36PM I think this will be a plus for Chloe -- she will gain new fans that will follow her to her solo projects. ;)
Sorry to hear that Eabha has gone -- for now. Maybe she will return in the future. Title: Re: Chloë's Return Post by: Excalibur on January 24, 2020, 07:07AM I'm very sorry to see Eabha go, after Orla I think she has the most distinctive voice in CW history and that's something :D
As for Chloe, I'm happy for her but not thrilled to see her return. Her voice and style matured in a way that I don't see very fit for CW anymore - the exxagerated gestures and the not-impressive vocals compared to the past. She has a huge stage presence but that's just a plus, in my opinion, not the foundation. It will be inevitable for many of us to compare her to Mairead who stepped in for her seven years ago. Another thing which does'nt thrill me is the attitude both Chloe and Lisa Kelly showed in the past towards CW: more than once, they stated they weren't interested in returning, not even for reunions or anything, whatsoever. Now this. It's true that everyone is entitled to change their mind, but this is another thing many fans will inevitably consider. Other girls have returned (Méav, Lynn, Alex, Susan) but they never said they were done with CW. Title: Re: Chloë's Return Post by: Maloney on January 29, 2020, 02:40PM will be nice to see Chloe on the stage again, but am saddened with Eabha's departure.
Just when I feel CW had recaptured the magic...…. Title: Re: Chloë's Return Post by: CWazyTom on February 17, 2020, 01:31PM I'll be seeing Chloë an astonishing 9 times this spring, including 8 times on the Celebration tour.
My feeling about this change have been all over the place. I'll miss Eabha terribly. Eabha's been in every Celtic Woman show I've seen until now. She has been so kind to me on a social media and was a huge part of the turnaround in my emotional state since 2015. I'm excited for Eabha and how she'll be able to fully express herself creatively out on her own. I look forward to supporting her in all her future endeavors. This is another one of those changes that I kind of saw coming, but I wasn't confident about my read to dwell on it much. Eabha was really ramping up her social media towards the end of the Celebration tour and certainly by the Magic of Christmas tour. She was spending more time refining songs for her album. She got to sing her original song Garden of Eden on the Ancient Land DVD and tour. There was also a really suspicious comment in the Christmas program about them having one last tour together. To make things stranger, Chloë had asked me during a M+G if I was going to any Celtic Woman shows on the Celebration tour. I thought that was a little weird considering she's made it clear over the past few years that she wasn't actively interested in the group anymore or ever returning. But then she mentioned right after that she had a HUGE announcement coming in January and she wished she could tell all of us. To be honest, I kind of thought she might be talking about her voice-acting role on Planet Peek-a-Boo. Still, that sequence of comments lingered in the back of my mind. Before Eabha's last concert with Celtic Woman (which I attended with a pre-show M+G), I messaged her part of what I wanted to tell her just in case it was her last show and I couldn't get it out during the M+G. I did manage to say most of what I wanted to during the M+G, though it was one of the most epic emotional wrecks I've experienced in front of them. During the last song, one of the singers wasn't able to continue during the song because it was too emotional. I thought at the time it could have been related to the very recent passing of one of Ronan's family members, but I ended up checking ALL the set lists (and actually taking all of them with me with Fang's approval) after the show. There wasn't any special message on there like there was for Susan, so I figured I might be mistaken, especially when they didn't announce anything during the show. But as soon as I saw Chloë's photo published by Celtic Woman, I knew what was going on. Chloë was the first member of Celtic Woman I met, the first one I traveled a long way to see, and the first performer that really captured my heart. I never thought I would see her back in Celtic Woman. While I'm excited to see what she can do back with the group, her voice has changed a LOT since she was last with Celtic Woman. I think Meav, Gavin, and the girls will find a way to make them all sound great together, but I'm definitely more worried than I normally am at the start of a tour about how it's going to sound. Megan has a strong enough voice to balance out Chloë's solo-career voice and I think Mairead's high notes will still shine through. But even though Chloë's voice is deeper than it was when she was last in the group, it's certainly not Alto range like Eabha's. Celtic Woman performed beautiful music for years before Eabha added her depth to the group, but they will certainly need to re-arrange a lot of the songs again to accommodate Chloë's new range and style. We'll see how this goes... Title: Re: Chloë's Return Post by: CWazyTom on April 12, 2020, 12:50PM I feel fortunate that I saw Chloë 5 times with Celtic Woman on the Celebration tour before it was postponed. I was to see her another 4 times at least (and Susan twice) before the unceremonious end to the festivities.
I wasn't sure at first how her new voice would fit in with the other ladies or the new style of the group. But my GOODNESS it worked well. The new version of May It Be is one of the most astonishingly beautiful things I've had the pleasure of hearing. I'm not sure what will happen when the tour returns next year (or in the unlikely event the Christmas tour still goes ahead, this year). Will Chloë be back? Will Eabha return? Will there be a new member, or perhaps even a rotation of previous members? Time will tell. All I can say is that while I'm sure I'll love whatever lineup we'll be privileged to enjoy, I will miss Chloë dearly once again if her time in Celtic Woman has ended. Everyone in Celtic Woman is and has been amazing and very dear to my heart. But there is nor ever will be anyone else like Chloë Agnew. <3 Title: Re: Chloë's Return Post by: Maloney on July 28, 2020, 12:51PM Lisa's "May It Be" has always been one of my favorites.
