Title: For Christians (and other intristed parties) Post by: Celtic Lass on May 14, 2007, 12:11PM I was in church this Saturday and for closing hymn we sang I Cannot Tell Why. Well our pastor sermon was on wether protestints should celebrate St. Patricks Day. Anyway, he had a lady play the flute along with the organ for this closing hymn. The funny thing is the music to it was Danny Boy !!!!! I could hardly believe it! I went home and checked the music and it is the original music to the hymn! Has anyone else heard this hymn before? It was so wired! ??? ;D

vanni9283 - it is in The Seventh-Day Adventist Hymnal and I suppose some others. We sing that every so often in our church.
The name of the hymnal is "With One Voice". That is we've sung a hymn that he either composed the tune or lyrics for and the sermon was about his contribution to the overall Christian church.

Shouldn't matter the religion.

Around 100 songs & hymns have been set to it. I have seen it described as a "reel" which of course it is not. I know many Irish singers and bands who will not sing "Danny Boy", and yet it is one of the most requested.
