You know...one of my biggest pet peeves is seeing the Christmas stuff up in the stores in September...it is so out of place.  If I actually could make a law, I would prohibit Christmas decorations until the day after Thanksgiving.  Let us celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving first.

But with the girls...I'll make this exception.

Let me take you back to the good old days of the 1940's and 50's. Nothing pertaining to Christmas was in the stores until after Thanksgiving and then they went all out. There were Sunday blue laws when stores were not allowed to be open on Sunday and only drug stores could remain open to sell drugs only but of course in those days that was all they did sell. I remember a store opening on a Sunday in my neighborhood in the early 1960's and within an hour of opening the store was surrounded by police cars and all employees were hauled away in a paddy wagon. It was the best of times.
