Maggie spent some time in Kentucky this past April. I guess some of it rubbed off on her.

Yep! Y'see, that's both my loyalties coming out.

I was born a country girl in the deep South.....Tipperary......
and I've lived down here in Dixie for 15 years!

I only wear shoes, or wellies, when absolutely necessary.
I loved Kentucky, and all those gorgeous horses. Didn't mind the horse s**t one bit.

I love the names......
That's dos corderos, Wickie!
My cousin in Roscrea breeds hunters (big horses) and other livestock. They also have lots of grandchildren, it is a very lively house, always lots of activity and fun, probably like yours!
I was there in June.

For a while they had a lamb who got attached to one of the grandchildren, (2 years old) and followed him everywhere. When he kicked a ball, the lamb would kick it back.
It was hilarious! He was named McGrath, after an Irish Footballer.
That lamb was pretty smart though, he should have gone to market but because of the little guy he was kept as a pet.

One of the other grandsons had his own little Shetland pony. But that wasn't what he wanted. He preferred to sit on one of the biggest hunters. His legs were not long enough for stirrups, so he rode bareback, totally fearless.
As you know, horses are smarter than people think.
That big horse knew he had precious cargo on board, and was extra gentle.

There are such precious memories to keep, when you are a "farm baby"!

I too have been playing our ladies Christmas CD all month, wishing I was in Dublin for the recording of the new one.  I can't wait for it to be released.   It will be a very, very Merry CW Christmas, especially  if they release solo and group CDs in addition.

Maggie, being born in Maryland , I have always taken my shoes or boots off when ever I can.  I only wear them when going to work, out to the store, or somewhere special.   Maryland is the first state south of the Mason-Dixon Line, so I guess I'm a southerner by birth.
