Several threads in the past have approached the subject of male & female Celtic Woman fans — stories about getting girlfriends or boyfriends interested, or sons or daughters, or the occasional "worried girlfriend" story (the latter usually in jest, fortunately!
).
My random thoughts:
1. In my observation, the show is clearly designed to appeal to a wide audience of all ages, many places, & both sexes. That's one of the things which makes it great!
2. By now, I've noticed a fair number of songs in the CW repertoire, as well as the solo albums, which have male "speakers". "Carrickfergus" springs to mind, of course, as does "Cad E Sin Don Te Sin" from
The Water is Wide, & notice also "She Moved Through the Fair" — which, though I have heard several versions, have yet to hear in a "tenor-baritone" voice! For that matter, plenty of folk songs with female speakers are commonly sung by men as well (though what springs to my mind for that is a non-Celtic example, namely Bob Dylan recording the
pre-Animals version of "House of the Rising Sun"
). Anyone have any theories as to why this happens?
As far as the poll is concerned, I have no expectations as to whether this board has more men or women, or, for that matter, whether it has any "higher meaning" for the board or whatever... I'm just curious — though I figure it'll probably be about 50-50.
