This is currently just an idea. Basically, it's an Orla CD and possibly DVD that is mostly her with a bit of Celtic Woman involved. Such songs included would be:

Gollum's Song with Mairead on fiddle that fades to Orla singing a different song from Lord of the Rings. I'm not sure what it's name is, but Cash would know the song best. It's featured in his signature.

Lamb of God, Pure and Holy, with Orla singing the first verse, Alex and Lisa joining for the second verse, and the entire CW choir with the three singers for the third verse.

Graduation starting with just Orla and Mairead on fiddle and then Meav, Hayley, and Deidre join in that order.

Remember Me duet with Meav.

How Great Thou Art featuring the current CW singers.

How Great Is Our God duet with Lynn.

Shout to the Lord duet with Chloe.

Shine, Jesus, Shine duet with Alex.

Lord, I Lift Your Name on High duet with Lisa.

What do you think? Do you have any more ideas?

Personally, I'm against the idea of Orla or any member of Celtic Woman singing Gollum's Song.  While I have no doubt that Orla would do a wonderful job singing it, the song is incrediby dark--it's not meant to be a happy song at all!

I think some Celtic or at least Celtic-inspired songs should be added onto the list.  I'll get back to you on that.

Neither is Carrickfergus. That's a very sad song as well. I just think that Orla would do a good job with it.

How many of you think that an Orla DVD would be a very good idea? I do. I think that these songs can be featured as well as:

Distant Shore
Shooting Star
The Water is Wide
Shuil A Run
Harry's Game
Newgrange
May It Be
Carrickfergus
Isle of Inisfree

Any More Suggestions?

I never said Orla couldn't do well with that song--I think she'd do a very fine job, in fact; but I can't see her singing it.  And while Carrickfergus isn't exactly a happy song either, it doesn't exactly compare to Gollum's song, which is extremely dark and almost hateful.  Of course, part of the reason why I feel this way was because Gollum totally creeped me out in both the books and the movies (I'm a LotR fanatic, forgive me. Cheesy)  Sorry if I sound like I'm jumping on you.  I'm not, I promise. Smiley

I'm all for an Orla DVD though.  She's already been featured on a PBS program, so why not?

Regardless of the song selection, we'd all love to see another album from Órlagh.  A DVD would be even sweeter.  But if you're holding out some hope that she might do it in conjunction with CW, it's not going to happen.  She's moved on, and very happy with her choice.

If anyone has my r_ropes@bellsouth.net email address saved, you can delete it. I got tired of subsidizing AT&T.

Well said, Rich! We will all be blessed with the new solo Christmas CD that she has just finished working on. As for a DVD, we can NEVER have enough Orlagh so it would be great to have one down the line!!

Well it would still be cool if she could pull a Hayley, but you would know for certain whether anything like that would happen. I'm still up for the DVD idea.
