I pose the following question to you: "What would your ultimate Celtic Woman concert be like?" Notice I said "ultimate" concert instead of "fantasy" concert. For this little scenario, let's establish a couple rules: * The performing lineup for the concert must consist of 4, 5, or 6 soloists, since that is the number that they have used in their actual stage performances. Much as I love the idea of maybe having all 9 girls of Celtic Woman perform together, let's be honest and say that it would be nothing short of a fantasy-come-true for that to happen. However, it might not be so impossible for one or two of the former members to return (or at least, let's say it's not impossible). * The time structure for the concert must follow what it always has been for Celtic Woman's shows; that is, a one-hour act, with an intermission, and then another hour act, give or take a song. Sure, I'd love to have them do a concert where they perform every CW song ever, but again let's think of what is possible rather than impossible. * No description of M&G at all. This is about the concerts, not the M&Gs. Maybe a separate thread can be made about the ultimate M&G (and that would be quiet a thread in itself). Ok, without further adieu, here is my own example of an ultimate CW concert: THE VENUEWhat more ultimate place is there to see Celtic Woman than Red Rocks? I was privileged to see them there in 2009, on a perfect night there is no place on this earth like it. There is true magic in that stone amphitheater, much as there is magic within the ladies of CW. So, Red Rocks it is. Imagine a perfect cloudless Colorado evening, with a slight chill in the air, a soft breeze blowing, no mosquitos, and an enthusiastic crowd typical of Red Rocks. Of course, since it's an ultimate concert, front row center seating is a given. THE PERFORMERSThe soloists would be: Mairead Nesbitt, Lisa Kelly, Chloe Agnew, Lynn Hilary, and Meav Ni Mhaolchatha. The choir members would be: Julian David Edwards, Sean Loftus, Dermot Keirnan, Catherine Neylan, Amy Rivard, and Kira Deegan. The musicians would be: David Downes (piano), Ray Fean and Nicky Bailey (drums and percussion), Des Moore (guitar), Eoghan O'Neill (bass guitar), John O'Brien (uileann pipes), and Anthony Byrne (bagpipes). For those interested in the soloists' attire, the first-act dresses would be the white ones from A New Journey, and the second-act dresses would be the colored one with the gold trim used in the Isle Of Hope Tour. A nice contrast of simplicity and extravagence. THE SONGSOf course since this is a CW concert there needs to be some balance to the songs for the show, so that every soloist gets their share, which is as it should be. Here is the playlist I would want: ACT 1 The Sky And the Dawn And the Sun (Mairead/Lisa/Chloe/Lynn/Meav) Walking In the Air (Chloe) Fields Of Gold (Lisa) Coast Of Galicia (Mairead) Pie Jesu (Mairead/Chloe/Lynn) Si Do Mhaimeo i (Meav) Last Rose Of Summer (Lynn/Meav) The Soft Goodbye (Lisa/Chloe/Meav) My Lagan Love (Lynn) Danny Boy (Lisa/Chloe/Lynn/Meav) Amazing Grace (Lisa/Chloe/Lynn/Meav) Nil Se'n La (Mairead/Lisa/Chloe/Lynn/Meav) ACT 2 O Holy Night (Mairead/Lisa/Chloe/Lynn/Meav) Granuaile's Dance (Mairead) Orinoco Flow (Lisa/Chloe/Lynn/Meav) She Moved Through the Fair (Meav) The Blessing (Lisa) Non C'e Piu (Mairead/Lisa/Chloe/Lynn/Meav) Carolina Rua (Mairead/Lynn) Shenandoah/Pacific Slope (Mairead) Nella Fantasia (Chloe) The Voice (Lisa/Mairead) You Raise Me Up (Mairead/Lisa/Chloe/Lynn/Meav) Encore #1: O America! (Mairead/Lisa/Chloe/Lynn/Meav) Encore #2: The Finale (Mairead/Lisa/Chloe/Lynn/Meav) Ok, what an amazing concert that would be! Does anyone else have their own version of an ultimate CW concert?

Ooooh, Scott. A++ for this topic. Very cool and original! THE VENUE: The Kravis Center, West Palm Beach, FL. I can't describe my pure love for this venue. It's gorgeous, the front row is practically on stage, and for me it's extremely easy to get to. Just a 45 min-1 hr shot up I-95 and I'm there. No hotel stay required. Love this venue too much for words. ______________________________________________ THE PERFORMERSMáiréad Nesbitt, Lisa Kelly, Lynn Hilary, Chloe Agnew. Yup, the current lineup. I honestly would pay for just a Lisa/Máiréad concert, but since we are required to have 4 or 5 ( ) I will add in Lynn because I love her voice, and Chloe because I love her stage presence and personality. _______________________________________________ SETLISTThe order of the songlist isn't super exact. It honestly took me forever just trying to think of songs, LOL! Act 1Nil S'en Lá (all) Fields of Gold (Lisa) Coast of Galicia (M) Caledonia (Lisa) Dulaman (Lynn) My Heart Was Home Again (Lynn/Lisa) Granuaile's Dance (M) The Call (all) Isle of Hope Isle of Tears (all...or all three soloists..I don't remember if M is in this) Send Me a Song (Lisa) When You Believe (because Chloe's gotta have SOMETHING or else I look really mean LOL) Mo Ghile Mear (all) Act 2 Sky/Dawn/Sun (all) There is No Night (I cheated with a non-CW Máiréad song teehee!) At The Ceili (all) GIVE ME YOUR HAND (like 5 times in a row, preferably. Kidding, lol). (Lisa/Chloe) The Voice (Lisa/M) The Butterfly (M) Carolina Rua (Lynn) Slumber My Darling/The Mason's Apron (M) Orinoco Flow (all) The Moon's a Harsh Mistress (Lisa/M) Sing Out (all) The Finale (all) Let's just say Lisa and Máiréad would be working very hard through this show. LOL.

Too be honest, any concert for me in the future would be ultimate, because I've never seen one Although I can make up a few things.. Venue.. I don't know any in America, but I have been in the Lyceum Theatre in Londen which is gorgeous.., there is enough room for the orchestra and I would love to have an orchestra with the concert... it makes it a bit more special. Lyceum Theatre:The Performers: Órla Fallon, Lisa Kelly, Máiréad Nesbitt, Méav Ní Mhaolchatha, Chloë Agnew & Lynn Hilary. Dresses first act: the whites ones from ANJ Dresses second act: tour dresses from group picture Act 1:
The Sky, The Dawn & The Sun (all) Caledonia (Lisa) Shooting Star (Órla) Granuaile's Dance (Máiréad) Dulàman (Méav) Galway Bay (Chloë) Orinoco Flow (Méav, Órla, Lisa) My Lagan Love (Lynn) The Last Rose of Summer (Lynn, Méav) There Is No Night (Máiréad) The Soft Goodbye (Lisa, Chloë, Méav) Amazing Grace (All) Act 2:Mo Ghile Mear (all) Carolina Rua (Máiréad, Lynn) Walking The Night (Méav, Lynn) Give Me Your Hand (Chloë & Lisa, Méav & Lynn joining) Shenandoah/The Pacific Slope (Máiréad) Harry's Game (Órla) The Voice (Lisa, Máiréad) Ailein Duin (Méav) Non C'è Più (all except Méav) The Lost Rose Fantasia (Máiréad) Nella Fantasia (Chloë) Sing Out (All) The Finale (All) Okay, the girls will get really tired..

Venue...
Modern indoor facility with AC and a lot of legroom in seating area. Large lobby and aisles that allow easy and quick entry / exit from seats. Large restroom areas. Good looking exterior that has parks or water (lakes, rivers) nearby. Plenty of parking and quick entry / exit to parking areas. Many food places nearby.
Performers...
This is tough. The show seems perfect for 5 people and we have 9 to select from. So 4 have to be cut. I thought about using 6, but time limits just wont allow it. So, who?
The current 4 of course MUST be kept, so Mairead, Lisa, Lynn, and Chloe make the cut. So now its 1 of 5. This is tough. Alex, Meav, Orla, Deirdre, or Hayley? I select....Hayley! Why? Because I may never get a chance to see her again here in the USA unless she rejoins CW. I may get a chance to see the others. Just look at the latest news - Orla and Meav coming to the USA to do a Xmas DVD. In fact, I have already seen Orla and Deirdre in their post-CW years. Also, one of my fondest and most striking memories of my first CW concert is Hayley singing Danny Boy. It was a show-stopper. So even though I think Danny Boy is perfect as an a cappella piece for all 4 vocalists, I am returning it to a Hayley solo for the purpose of this exercise.
Set List...
Act 1
Sky Dawn Sun (all) Melody of Life (Lynn) Sing Out (all) The Voice (Lisa) When you Believe (Chloe) Nil Se'n La (Lisa, Lynn, Hayley, Mairead) Its done as fast version, no slow vocals at beginning , no candles. Also, there would be a short instrumental intro and exit, giving the ladies a bit more time for dress changing and gets the other performers more involved. Antony and Tommy start the song slowly on pipes, and Des and Eoghan finish with fast guitar. Coast of Galicia (Mairead) Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears (all) May it Be (Hayley) My Heart was Home Again (Lisa, Lynn) Orinoco Flow (all) Last Rose of Summer (Lynn, Hayley) Mo Ghile Mear (all)
Act 2
The Call (all) Galway Bay (Chloe) Amazing Grace (all) Slumber my Darling / Mason's Apron (Mairead) At the Ceilli (Chloe, Lisa, Lynn, Mairead) Includes a short vocal slow intro by the choir, a sort of duet, male voices then female voices. At the end, Ray and Nick do a very fast and upbeat drum 'battle'. This wouold provide more time for dress changing and again getting the other performers more involved. Danny Boy (Hayley) Angel Dove (Lynn) Goodnight my Angel (Lisa, Chloe) Caledonia (Lisa) Over the Rainbow (Hayley, Chloe) Soft Goodbye (all) You Raise me Up (all) Spanish Lady (all)
So there you have it. 26 songs that include a mix of fast upbeat music with the slower mellow stuff. Also a good mix of instrumental music and participation by the band and choir. I may have cheated a bit on Lynn's solos, taking 2 songs from her solo CD. But they are nice songs.

My Ultimate CW concert (I do come close to fantasy ): Venue: Red Rocks (it's named often for a reason) however I also consider the Terrace Theater in Long Beach where I had my first up close experience ever. I am truly happy in any venue with good acoustics. Performers: Lisa Kelly, Mairead Nesbit, Chloe Agnew, Lynn Hilary, and it's a tough call on Hayley or Orla as I haven't seen either of them live. I think I shall go with Hayley since I might catch Orla sometime on tour here. On second thought as I make the set list Orla fits the style of the show much better. Band: Everybody from ANJ and Anthony on bagpipes. Current choir too. David on the piano A MUST! Dresses: I love the Powerscourt first half dresses big time! Second Act I want Lisa back in her blue with orange trim, Orla in purple dress from ANJ, and everybody else in their respective second half dresses. This set list was HARD to make! (I pretty much just tweaked Isle of Hope set list cause that was near my ultimate ) I also had to take time to carefully balance so that Lisa and Mairead weren’t performing all night, I’m like Em and would totally do a Lisa/Mairead concert I think this gives the best mix of Old and New, going from Helix all the way up to Songs from the Heart Act 1: The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun (It is the perfect opening to me) Fields of Gold Reels (First time ever to be performed on tour!) Dulaman Orinoco Flow (Gotta have my wave) When You Believe Newgrange Isle of Hope Isle of Tears Send Me A Song Granuaile’s Dance Goodnight My Angel Danny Boy (The new arrangement of course) Mo Ghile Mear Lost Rose Fantasia (this will give the girls time for costume change and the audience a breather ) Nil Sen La (In amazing dancing original form) Intermission Act 2: The Call Angel Doves (Off Lynn’s CD I really want to see her do this one) Carrickfergus Amazing Grace There Is No Night (Mairead’s most beautiful piece ever) Galway Bay (again costume change time) At the Ceili The Butterfly/Masons Apron Give Me Your Hand Oh Holy Night (This just blows me away I don’t care if it isn’t Christmas time!) Caledonia (One word: Home) Sing Out Oh America Non C’e Piu The Soft Goodbye (it is after all the end of the show) You Raise Me Up (Since Orla is back I want it similar to ANJ, although I would arrange it so that the middle is like the CD version of Helix. Then have it finish up like Songs from the Heart. Yes I have put a lot of thought into this number lol) Spanish Lady (I don’t think you can go out on a better number) The deciding factor to make this the “Ultimate” concert would to have my best friend on my right to enjoy it with me.
