Just got back home and my mind is still reeling from the events of yesterday.
I have never been very good at writing reviews so don't expect much.
Trip into Nashville for the most part was uneventful except traffic jams cause by road work.
We checked into the Doubletree and took a short break before going to the per show dinner.
On the way to dinner meet other fans in the lobby form several forums. It was great to see people that I have meet before.
It was so good to see you Sandy and meet your daughter Marie-France. It was real nice to meet so many of you that I have seen on the forum. Maggie, Rich, Gregg, Lucie, Elizabeth just to name a few.
Left dinner and headed to the venue way early!!!  I wanted a real good seat and was rewarded with one. We sat front row almost center. My knees against the stage.   Cheesy Grin
Awesome seats!!
Here is the part where it's hard to put things in order as there was not really an order.
First thing was filming the audience. Several shots of applause to make sure they had some good takes. At first the audience held back but as soon as we were told that we could do better we let them have it!!!
My throat is still sore from Woo Hooing .   Roll Eyes
After several takes it was on the the music !!

The stage was beautiful !   Red back drop with wreaths and several white birch trees strung with white lights.  Orla started it off with medley Carrol of the bell/Ding dong merely on high.

On to the next song not sure of the order as a stated before there was not really an order. Several retake on different songs and intros. Which makes it hard to place what took place first.
Orla sang do you see what I see and was joined by Mave. The crowd went wild !! Shocked

It was her first appearance of the night. It was so good to see them both together again and everyone was ecstatic! My first time to see Mave in concert. What a treat!!!  Grin

Mave sang Oh holy night solo. She did a wonderful job.  Grin Awesome!
Here are some of the songs that were sung last night. Not sure on the order but to the best of my memory here it go.
Hark How the Bells/Ding dong merrily on high medley. Sung by Orla.
Orla and Mave ~ Do you see what I see?
Mave ~Oh Holy night.
Orla~ Silent night
Orla ~ Drummer boy
Orla ~ Sole cake - Irish folk song ( Peter , Paul and Mary )
Orla ~ I saw three ships.

The finally was ~ Here we come a wassailing.
Orla, Mave, David and I am sorry some country singer which name escapes me.  He sang a duet with Orla as well. I can't remember the name of that either.
I probably left out some song please don't hold me to accountable my mind is shot! Smiley
Yea I am sure I did they were sung by David and I did not know the names.

Durin' the break Olra ,Mave and David came out and signed autographs and talked with everyone.  Heather was taken back by meeting David. She has a crush on him! LOL   Roll Eyes
I was in heaven as was Phillip. Meeting and talking with Orla and Mave all in the same night. Good times!!!! Smiley

Little did I know that we would meet up with them again before time to go home! They are both so sweet and I enjoyed the time I spent with them. Thank you so much Orla and Mave!!! Cheesy
My words could never recapture the grandeur of last night which will live on in my heart forever!!!
What a perfect night!!!
Awesome!!!!!  Grin

Yes it did......Órlagh did the best version ever!

Here are the lyrics:

Here is the original recording by Peter Paul & Mary, with an explanation of it:

Here's a choral version with a sample of the sheet music....listen all the way to the end:

On this page is a great explanation of the custom, which has survived in parts of England.
There is even a recipe for Soul cake!

I can remember going a-wassailing (a.k.a. carrolling) ahh, wonderful childhood memories......

It's so good to be reminded of those days full of family, warmth, and fun.....nostalgic and a bit sad though, too.

It was great meeting everyone in Nashville.....the Christmas Spirit was alive and well!  Cheesy

"Soal Cake" was an instant hit with me too! Orlagh looked like she was having fun singing it too - weaving in and out between the guitarist and Mary, the fiddler!

I sing with a Victorian quartet during the holidays and "Here We Come A- Wassailing" is one of my favorites. Some of the lyrics are identical to "Soal Cake".

Thanks Maggie.  I liked this song right away too when I heard Orlagh sing it even though I didn't understand all of it.
