Lets take the Orla Celtic Christmas DVD to the next level... You can all participate in the new DVD... by volunteering to work a pledge drive with your local PBS affiliate. Contact the local station and request to volunteer on the night that the DVD will be shown at the station.

As a member of the Irish American Cultural Society, I've been on the Studio phones for many Irish PBS concerts,
or shows with an Irish theme.
The local PBS Station call us each time they have an Irish concert or program. That way they only have to make one phone call, we will organize ourselves and turn up on time as a group.
So yes, contact your local Station and tell them you are a member of :

http://orlasgarden.com/    and       http://www.celticwomanforum.com/

and volunteer as soon as possible. If you have other members near you, volunteer as a group.
It might be worth joining your local Irish Club, as they might get the call just as we do.
The staff at your local PBS Station may not yet be aware of the Órla Christmas Special,
so tell them about it!

Great ideas for us to help, Charlie and Maggie!!  I've contacted KET here requesting that the show be aired.  I'll offer further assistance when they say they will air it.  KET aired Jim Brickman's Christmas special several times last year, so I'm confident they will air Orla's this year!  Let's keep a running thread keeping each other abreast at the developments in this regard as they occur!   Wink Grin

Thanks Maggie and STARMAN...
Lets all do our part to see this great show on the PBS affiliates, and as Maggie said.. Get together as a group and
volunteer for the pledge drives. Do contact your local PBS station and request that "Orla Fallon's Celtic Christmas" be
aired over the Thanksgiving Holiday. We've often shared upcoming events with PBS affiliates in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana
before they were notified officially. Yes.... there are good reasons to be a part of the forum and ahead of the general public.
Great photo with "The High Kings" Maggie. I hope you've shared the picture with the Kings..! Would make them proud.
Thanks again Maggie for the time together in Nashville and give Dave our best... Congrats to Tipperary. It was a Blowout
and well deserved VICTORY. Joe's photo's at the Double Tree says it all... Maybe he'll share soon.
Merry Christmas at Thanksgiving... just around the corner.
Cheers

Absolutely right, Charlie.  The program director at KET was unaware of the filming and said it would be next week before stations are notified by PBS as to programming available for the winter pledge drives.  I emailed him the link Kelli sent us for more information on Orla's special.  He was very positive about the prospects for airing it.   Cool Grin

Received from KTWU:

"Hello Kelli,Thank you for your request for KTWU to air Orla Fallon's Celtic Christmas as part of our November/December schedules. We have not done our pledge schedules as of yet for December, and this program is a definite possibility, as the Celtic specials have been fairly popular with our viewers. We'll add you to our viewer database and if/when this has been scheduled, we will be sure to let you know. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!Val"

Today our PBS aired Mannheim Steamroller, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and B.E. Taylor Christmas shows, because they are coming here around Christmas. So Xmas pledge drive is off and running. Now if Orla were going on tour doing Xmas concerts, I bet she could get great attention as well!   Shocked

By the way, any word on if she will do any Xmas concerts in the USA in the coming months, in conjunction with PBS airing her show? And, if the answer is "Nope, she has no plans to do any" then I would respond by asking "WHY NOT?!" and then strongly suggest she and her management try to arrange something fast, at least a few.

I just received this response from the local PBS station regarding Orlagh's Celtic Christmas!!!!

Dear Bruce:

I have not heard of this show yet.  PBS will be announcing the special programs for late this year during a teleconference on Thursday. If this is among the specials I am certain WCNY will use the program in our schedule.

I got this response from PBA30 in Atlanta:

                    Hi, Joe!
We love Orla too at WPBA and, as you know, really enjoyed providing that special PBA Exclusive concert
with her last year at our beautiful Atlanta Botanical Garden! So, anytime we can have Orla back, we will!
I have a call in to her management already, and am hoping to hear back to see what we can do!
Keep your eye on our schedule after Thanksgiving, so hopefully she will be there!
Thanks for supporting, and watching Atlanta’s PBS station!

Wow! Now that's my kind of reply!   Thanks for sharing it with us, Joel!  I'll wager from this that the folks in Atlanta are going to be treated to Orla's special--maybe multiple times!   Grin Grin Grin
