And in happier news...

My friend Kate Steinway was on the news and got to perform one of her original songs, Tiny Home!

Here's the interview with Kate before she performed the song on TV:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NESFqjVmrZc

I wish they would have done a bit better job keeping the shadows away from her face. Lol.

Here's her song, Tiny Home with a stunning backdrop:

She was really nervous and I'm sorry I couldn't be online to support her before the interview. Traveling without a SIM card and only having Wi-Fi back at the hotel had its consequences. She hid her nerves very well and did a wonderful job.

Her music is so uplifting and her voice... OMG I love it!

Here's a bonus song for you all! Kate joined Mary Bee and Dani W (who will be joining her very shortly on her tour of California), for a cover Marry You (Bruno Mars):

The harmony is soothing.

Kate has some exciting news coming. That's all I can say at the moment, but it's going to be a good time to be a #Katemate.  Wink

Well, sunonthebeach...  I can't believe Secret Garden was in Atlanta last week, and I didn't go (a Rotary Club event, but I woulda found a way in).  At least, Fiannuala Sherry is performing again; and they do have a 20th Anniversary DVD available...   Oh well...  maybe next time...

Kate recently released her first studio EP, True North!

The CD comes in a very nice cardboard case.

There are 4 tracks on the EP:
1. Hurricane
2. Tiny Home
3. True North
4. Wayfaring Woman
5. Young Heroes

If you've had a chance to watch any of her online shows, you'll be familiar with at least a few of these original songs.

The opening track, Hurricane was released as a single recently (coincidentally, it was around the same time as Harvey struck, which made it a tiny bit awkward to promote for a while). I don't want to give away too much, but the hurricane is symbolic and you don't want to mess with one Wink It's a fun song.

Mary Bee sings backing vocals on Wayfaring Woman and Tiny Home. Kate does a bit of her own backing vocals as well. I believe Kate's harmonizer also gets used in a few places.

My two favourite tracks were Wayfaring Woman and Young Heroes. The backing does a good job of complimenting Kate. It's exceptionally effective in those two songs. Those songs also do the best job of showing off Kate's incredibly lovely voice. Young Heroes has a deeply soothing and ethereal sound.

The album has an overall country feel, but there's quite a bit of variety of sounds packed into the EP. The ukulele adds a bit of a warm and uplifting tropical feel. True North is in 6/8 time and has Celtic undertones. The song almost seems to dance along.

I enjoyed the lyrics and the tunes are catchy. My favourite part of the album, though, was Kate's voice. It's warm and absolutely gorgeous! Personally, I think it has the perfect amount of vibrato.

Kate is such a wonderful singer. I wouldn't know Kate if it wasn't for Chloë and I can't ever thank her enough for performing with Kate last year.

I really enjoyed Kate's debut EP!

I hope you'll have a chance to check it out too and support this amazing artist. <3
