Obviously I’m a little hair-triggered when it comes to things said of Ms Fallon. It’s my own fault.

What I will confess is I stepped over the line with my reply, angry as originally posted, and caused the moderator to, well, exercise the burden of moderating it. Moderators have this authority and God bless them for it. I stand corrected and will try to police myself better in the future. Now the topic is also locked which I endorse.

In an effort to lighten-up and move the focus from real or imagined <snipped> back to the talent, beauty and grace of Ms. Fallon I would like to retread the following poem. This is the only poem I have ever written; such is my high regard for Ms Fallon. Maybe it isn’t a very good poem but in it I tried to do two primary things:

1. First and foremost complement Ms Fallon as best I can.
2. Acknowledge that the music is timeless and priceless- something I think Ms Fallon would “get” by:

   a) Recognize her connection back to the, all important, traditional music from the past.
   b) Finish up firmly in the present and with a little fun modern fun.

The reader will be the judge.

The Country Lass from Knockananna

Have you not heard her sweet voice?
The country lass from Knockananna?

Her heart is full of the old songs; you know, the ones that will forever last,
with love and purity in her voice, she sings for every Irish colleen; now and past.
Beautifully, mysteriously her voice floats in the soft air, filling every glen,
as she sings of joy and, yes, heartbreak; wherever Celt women have been.

High notes or low, the lyrics are oh so clear,
English or Gaeilge, pure joy; always to hear

Have you not listened to her make music fit for a King?
She, on her harp, sends up melodies that rival any dream.
Her fingers waltz across the strings as her delicate elbows lift and fall,
she sings and plays so sweetly when she stands, at her harp, so straight and tall.

Have you not seen her eyes sparkle, like waves on a vast and deep blue sea,
and her soft hair shimmer red, as glorious as a sunset could ever wish to be?

Have you beheld her gracefulness as she floats o’r many a stage?
The sole of her foot steps silently, lighter than this; or any page.
Her gowns are all so beautiful; they are good enough to save.
Ohhh, she is so very graceful, when it’s time for the Orinoco wave!

Her arms float on the music as she freely gives of her pretty smile.
We haven’t seen a chick anything like this in, well, quite a long while!

A special thanks to member Maggie- the incorrect term "lassie" changed to "colleen" on this mod. date per her expert advice. Thank you Maggie for  all you do here and for putting up with knuckle heads like me!

with love and purity in her voice, she sings for every Irish lassie; now and past.

Lovely poem, greenfire.
The only change I would make is to take out "lassie" which is very much a Scottish word, and insert "colleen", which in Irish is cailín, pronounced the same. It means "girl".
