I had the great pleasure of seeing Orla perform live last night in Sacramento, California, my second Orla show, and the great privilege of being able to talk to her and members of her band afterward.  Orla onstage and off was as genuing, warm, and personable as always.  Someone just like you and me who just happens to have an incredible gift and talent, and spends her time and energy  spreading beauty and artistry around the world.  We are all so lucky to have her. I really enjoyed the show, an eclectic mix of Irish wish some Country influences, courtesy of her great opening act/backup band Tin Cup Gypsy.  For those of you wish some familiarity with more traditional Irish bands, and who know Orla from Celtic Woman, I would call her show less Celtic Woman and more Clannad, actually.  The show pretty closely paralleled her My Land video with some added material as well.  If you have the opporunity definitely go and see her show.  I have not doubt you will find it to be time and money well spent.  As well as being able to talk to an re-connect with Orla after nearly two years, I also met Jonathan and Cassandra from Tin Cup Gypsy and had the great luck of running into her lovely violinst/backup singer Amber Lee in the lobby and got to know her as well.  All in all, quite a night.  As all of us I'm sure, how everything seems just to have fallen into place for Orla in her solo career is, I would say, just beyond our wildest dreams.

Thank you Glenn for this fine review of last night's show in Sacremento!  And so quickly posted too!  Reading it should encourage others to turn out for other shows in this fast-moving tour now centering in California!  I so glad you were able to see Orla again after so long!

Did the crowd give a good accounting of themselves?  Amberly Rosen has really added a great dimension to the show with her dancing and showmanship in addition to her fiddle playing!  And of course, music director Dan Shea cannot be beat!  Add Tin Cup Gypsy to the mix and it's hard to imagine better accompaniment for Orla, don't you agree!   Cool Cool Cool

Great review,Glenn!

Yep, our girl Orla is a gift for which we should all give thanks. I have said this before - she is the REAL deal. Talent-wise and personality wise!

Kelli and I will be winging our way to California this weekend to bask in the California sunshine AND the sunshine that is Orla herself!
