Yesterday I learned that a dear friend in Canada and had been diagnosed with terminal cancer 2 years ago and had been given 6 months to live was fading fast. She went into a coma on Wednesday, her birthday and they don't expect her to last the weekend.
Last night on the way home, I had ANJ in my cd player and Carrickfergus was playing. I had to repeat it several times as it really struck me and reminded me of my friend.
Thank you Orlagh
Jim

Don't let anyone say that prayers don't work. I just received this message
Judith has been more alert in the past few days and is more cheerful than before. However, she's probably not going to be with us much longer. She's not in pain and is pretty comfortable, so she's okay for the moment. Please keep her in your prayers at this time.
We know that it is a matter of time, but she has fought hard for 2 years. i will be calling her tonight and hope to be able to talk to her.
Please continue to keep her in your prayers.
Jim

Thanks. I did talk to her and while the drugs were noticeable and she was tired due to having had company during the day, her humor was still there and moved by the number of people praying for her.

Orla It was great to meet you in Tempe as you headed for the hot from the bus, even if it was only for a moment at the IHOP door. And thank you for your comments about my friend. So far she has been pulled back from crossing over. God wants her here for a little while longer at least.
As often as I hear other versions of Carriickfergus, YOU ownthe song. Thank you.
You are a gracious lady.

Jim Jim, I'm sorry I only just saw this. I will pray for Judith, and there is a very faith-filled lady I know at Church, who will pray for her also. I will put her on our prayer list. Yes, prayer is very powerful. While we can't always prevent our friends from slipping away, we can pray that they have peace and comfort until they are called home. A sense of humor is a wonderful thing too, amazing how much good it can do. My dear sister-in-law was incredible........we knew she was not going to be with us much longer, but she was the one cheering us up. Her smile lit up the room and was a great comfort. I am praying for you too, Jim.

I thank you for all your prayers. Never let anyone say they don't work. My friend Judith has come back. From almost losing her to being able to converse on instant message last night for a couple of hours. She is still terminal, but as I told her, The Good Lord wants her here longer. She was given 6 months 2 years ago.
Your prayers have helped her.
I even told her last night that she needs her friend in Canada to get her a copy of ANJ and I told her about Orlagh's Carrickfergus and how moved I was.
She was moved that so many people would pray for her.
God bless you all,
Jim

What fabulous news about your friend! I hope she gets to see (or better yet, watch the DVD) Carrickfergus soon! I'll be thinking of her and praying for her.

Vancouver gets 2 PBS channels, one from Portland. Better yet, ANJ will be on Sunday at 8pm, a fact take I told he about last night after another session on IM. When I grew up in the 50's and 60's, you either had to make a long distance call or wait for snail mail. Love technology. Besides, how could I have met such great people like you guys. Jim

can i ask about this song? apparantly its about an old man who's going to die, but if thats so, why is it always sung by women? and why would a guy sing about a handsome boatman? or is that changed for the female singers?
