In that case, it is an old or obscure term for Chipmunk, and correct. Otherwise, I have no idea what it could mean - unless it was mönch, a monk. Then it would mean... wait! Yes! Chipmonk! Chipmunk  So, yes it is chipmunk... and I learned a new word  |

Chipmunk in German is either Streifenhörnchen or Backenhörnchen, depending on the kind Chiara, after further research, it turns out that you were correct, Backenhornchen is German for chipmunk......I don`t think Chrissi will mind if I change her name.....she DOES come when I call her and since she`s named for a German friend, I call her in German. "Chrissi, wo bist du?' and she comes and gets peanuts, which she prefers over walnuts. |
