Totally random, but has anyone on here ever suffered from Bells Palsy? I know it comes on suddenly, but for the last few days I've had a pain behind my ear, and my tongue has felt numb then today my face felt funny when I was laughing - I smiled in a mirror, and noticed that my jaw was lopsided. I (being clever) googled the 'symptoms' and the first few hits were all Balls Palsy. I can't be sure that is what's going on with my face but wanted to see if anyone else has had it, or knows about it? Before I go rushing off to the doctors haha! Any help would be great

That's what it sounds like. I'd go to the doctor as soon as possible to find out one way or the other. Happened to my old boss once; most cases there is no known cause.

I'm trying to keep myself calm. It was the first thing came to mind, because I remembered my friend told me about her little sister having it! Thanks Eric, think I'll ring tomorrow & see if I can get an appointment Thought I'd ask on here, because you guys are all pretty clever!

DON'T WAIT FOR AN APPOINTMENT -- IT COULD BE A STROKE! Whatever it is, it is not good. I would get to a doctor or hospital AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! LIKE NOW!!

It's 12:15 am here, and our A&E is hopeless, so wouldn't be seen. I am going to ring to see the doctor in the morning. i don't think it's a stroke, as it's only left side of my face affected, & I think strokes are really rare at 22 (probably wrong) but thank you for the concern

Given Kirstie's age and the fact that the symptoms appeared slowly and progressively got worse, a stroke seems highly unlikely. Those hit hard and fast. Edit: A stroke would also cause paralysis on one entire side of the body and likely severe pain. If the problem is only with one side of the face, then the odds are 99.9% is that it's Bells Palsy. Basically a major nerve in the head is inflamed which is for all practical purposes, causing a severely pinched nerve.

Going on Wednesday before work, everyone thinks it's happened from the dentist because I got a tooth out but I dunno. We'll see what the doctor says
