So, this is kind of a mix between the musical and the pop version (lyrics wise, the arrangement will be musical-like) and I soooo hope they will sing it one day!!!

Mairéad Carlin

Soloist/s with choir

I got a plastic flower, so it will never die
I got my Grandma's hankie, if you ever need to cry
I got a pretty bracelet
I got a mirror too
I'm never gonna need em, I'll give them all to you
I'll give you all I got to give, I guess that's my good deed
I just want to stay besides you, you're the only love I need
I got a great big sea shell, you put it to your ear
Then you can hear the ocean, it's like you're really there
I got a glass of firefly's, they make amazing light
I've got a four leaf clover, I'll bring it here tonight
And I will keep you safe and strong, and follow where you lead
I'll never leave your side now, were the only love you need
No matter what they tell us, no matter what they do
No matter what they teach us, what we believe is true
I can't deny what I believe, I can't be what I'm not
I know this loves forever, I know no matter what
I can't deny what I believe, I can't be what I'm not
I know this loves forever, that's all that matters now

If only tears were laughter, if only night was day
If only prayers were answered, then we would hear God say
No matter what they tell us, no matter what they do
No matter what they teach us, what we believe is true
I can't deny what I believe, I cant be what I'm not
I know this loves forever, that's all that matters now

And I will keep you safe and strong
And sheltered from the storm
No matter where it's barren
A dream is being born
No matter who they follow
No matter where they lead
No matter how they judge us
I'll be everything you need

No matter if the sun don't shine
Or if the skies are blue
No matter what the ending
My life began with you
I can't deny what I believe
I can't be what I'm not
I know this love's forever

That's all that matters now

I was thinking the same thing for the original and former singers.

Yeah, Shiny, as you and I know, it's from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Whistle Down The Wind.

Yes. It's a pity that such a masterpiece musical was a flop :/

There actually is a film. It was made in 1996, even before the musical was premoiered. But it was never officially sold :/ There are clips on YouTube, though...

I would also love CW to sing Try Not To Be Afraid!!!

Do you own the CD? It's really good!

Anyways, there are videos on YT

Many songs from that show are perfect CW material. No Matter What as a huge group song, performed towards the end of a show, Try Not To Be Afraid as a duet or a group acapella song, the title song as a solo or as a group song, The Vaults Of Heaven would make a fantastic solo for Susan, If Only would be perfect for Mai C or as an acapella piece. They might even somehow perform Home By Now or When Children Rule The World. Of course, some songs like Cold Or Tyre Tracks or Annie Christmas are NOT for CW Grin But I think Whistle Down The Wind has lots of beautiful songs, many of them perfectly suitable for CW.

I consider WDTW as the moment where Andrew Lloyd Webber jumped the shark. I had great hopes for it after seeing the songs in the ALW 50th birthday concert (recommanded for everyone, that), and hearing the concept album. However, when I saw it... Well, let's say that, despite the great songs and some great moments (Cold, for example), it was suffering from quite a few things. The plot, for example. I couldn't believe that a fifteen-sixteen year old girl could believe that the stranger was Jesus (in the original movie, the heroine was a child, whichmade the plot more believable). Still, I liked Lottie Mayor.

Of course, my feelings may have been tainted by the fact that, the day before, I had seen the extraordinary production of Oklahoma, featuring Maureen Lippman, Shuler Hensley, and an unknown australian actor named Hugh Jackman. I wonder what became of him  Wink

Yeah, I also remember that part of the show during Donny Osmond's presentation.
