I stumbled upon this old topic and began to wonder, do the gowns in any of the other shows represent an element or symbol

Good question!

I don't think the dresses necessarily represent an element in each show. There tends to be different theme each time and the dresses are designed around that particular theme.

The colors sometimes have separate inspirations. For example, in Destiny, the bright-colored dresses were inspired by the colors of sapphires, I believe.

In Believe, they were going for more of a highly elegant Broadway / victorian / classic-Hollywood type of look, given that the PBS special was filmed at the Fabulous Fox in Atlanta in the US.

I've also heard that Synan O'mahony takes the personalities and tastes of each of the girls into account when designing the dresses.

I can't remember where I read this but I'll have a look for the article.

The guy is a genius though and our leading ladies look spectacular in his designs.

If you look at interviews he and the girls have done, it seems that nowadays the girls have more input into their dress designs than in the past. But for the most part there is no singular theme. The exception of course is the Christmas shows. ACC's dresses were based around the Advent wreath (pink and purple being the candles, green being the wreath itself, yellow being the light of the flame, and white was the color of snow) while HFC's were wintry white and Christmas red.

There's typically an act with similar colored dresses but with different styles (1st act ANJ, SFTH, Anniversary gold and 2nd Destiny) and an act with similar designs but different colors (2nd act SFTH, Anniversary 2nd, Destiny 1st).

Yeah, there's definitely not a common theme across all the tours (other than they look amazing).

If anyone finds any interviews (articles, audio clips, videos, etc.) talking about the dress designs and their inspirations for specific tours / specials, please post them here.

I'll have another look in a bit too.

The  only  one  I  can  think  of  to  support  this  idea  off  the  top  of  my  head  is   Meav's  original  "MerMEAV"  dress  from  the  initial  concert  and  1st  year or  2  of  touring. I am referring  to  that  gorgeous  blue  and  silver. form  fitting  mermaid  style  dress that  is  now  iconic  among  us  serious  CWers.  Celtic  cultures  are  rife  with  legends  of  mythological  sea creatures ( usually  female  in  appearance)   Selkies  fit  in  this  category  as  well. ( something  Meav  sings  about  in  her  Silver Sea  CD in  "You Brought  Me  Up" .  Just  a  thought...   Cool

Here's my idea: I just really want all the dresses that are Care Bear themed. For example, Chloë Agnew's must be pink with a white stomacher decorated with a sparkling rainbow.

I could be wrong but I think the first act dresses from the IOH tour were meant to represent the Irish and the American flag

I believe that the 2nd act dresses from the original show tour represent elements.

Isle Of Hope, The Emerald Tour

How would we explain Emerald Tour? Since Isle Of Hope was for flags of Ireland & America combined with Mairead N in white.
Mairead C couldn't wear pink so Lime or Teal was perfect, as for Lynn/Lisa L they did Orange because 1st Act had the green already.
So Lisa L would not wear what she worn on PBS Emerald 2nd Act for that matter although they did tribute Chloe's pink in Lynn & Lisa L's orange dress!

Seems they returned to water sort of for MC's Emerald Tour dress 1st Act.
Let's not forget The O America in different color's!

The original show can someone say why Lisa K wore Brown while the other's had aquatic fish dresses etc? was she a brown fish Cheesy
