I Don't Think I've Been so so so so Very Patient for anything like this other than I guess a Brand new pbs special or full album all song's release. Still this is unexpected still when even on a month announcement vs. with what you get with CW.
Riding the month through   Sad it will be worth it Smiley!

The wait is almost over!

Jason Tonioli's album Favorite Hymns, featuring CaraNua, is releasing on Friday, Nov 17!!!

From CaraNua's Facebook account a few minutes ago:
https://www.facebook.com/caranua/posts/1660847290646220

It’s nearly time!
Earlier this year we had the privilege of travelling to Utah to lend our vocals to some beautiful piano scores by @Jason Tonioli. Next Friday our collaboration will be finally released! We are so grateful for Jason, Chuck and Jake for all their amazing work on this album and we can’t wait for you to hear it!
Thank you all so much for sticking with CaraNua on our journey for the last few months, your support has meant everything to us. We hope that you love listening to this album as much as we enjoyed making it!
You can pre-order your copy of ‘Favorite Hymns’ today by following the link in the post below!
Love from Alex, Lynn and Edel

Here's Jason's original post:

My New CD "Favorite Hymns featuring CaraNua" is now available to Pre-Order.

Imagine you could have some of the best singers from the group Celtic Woman and Riverdance fly over from Ireland to sing lead vocals and harmony to your Hymn arrangements while you accompany them at the piano. (Yep... we did that. Former Celtic Woman and Riverdance lead singers Alexandria Sharpe, Lynn Hilary, and Edel Chan Murphy, came to Utah and are singing the hymns on the entire album.)

And if that weren't cool enough...

What if you added in a full orchestra with each of the songs you recorded and had orchestration help from Chuck E. Myers who has helped with music for Disney, Sony, Warner Brothers, on projects like Cars 3, Toy Story 2&3, Star Wars, and others? (Yep, we even have the Disney Magic Pixie Dust Sound from our orchestra.)

Sounds like a dream, right?

Well, that's exactly what we did. The girls sound amazing! The orchestration is amazing. The only thing missing was a castle to sing it in front of, but the backdrop of the Utah mountains can rival a castle in my book. Smiley

I hope that when you hear our version Amazing Grace, Be Thou My Vision, Nearer My God to Thee, How Great Thou Art, Going Home and others that you'll feel a small part of the spirit we felt while we were working on this project. We've put our hearts into this music and we really hope it will help lift the spirits of all who hear it.

If you are digital/streaming listener, the CD is scheduled to be released on iTunes, Spotify and Amazon next Friday. I'd love to have your help next week so we can show up in the charts and reach more people as we release the new album.

If you'd like to pre-order an autographed CD, we are running a special pre-order price for the CD through the 18th.

All Pre-Order CDs will ship next week.

If you are looking for a neighbor or family gift for the holidays, this is a great option. If your church or business is looking for a unique holiday gift, please reach out to me for bulk pricing.
You can Pre-Order and listen to excerpts from the album today at:

Signing

I asked CaraNua if they would be signing the pre-ordered copies.

I'm not 100% sure if they will or not, but Alex indicated they're working on it. Presumably they're working on the logistics.

Shipping

The price of the album is actually very reasonable. As usual, it's the shipping that gets you. I suspect you could get a digital copy once the album releases if you don't want to fork over the shipping cost.

Anyways, I liked the album cover a lot, there's a chance CaraNua will sign it, and I'm into collecting hard copies of Celtic Woman related albums, so I pre-ordered the CD and will just have to eat the shipping cost, (which was twice the cost of the album).

Sneak Peak Track

Spoiler Warning Below

Amazing Grace was the free preview track that came with the pre-order. It's an instant download, available even before the album releases!

I gotta say, it sounds really nice! It has a very pretty piano arrangement with good, subtle supporting orchestration.

The second verse and a few other places have a different sound from what we'd be used to from Celtic Woman. It's beautiful, but different and there's always a bit of risk to doing that. I think most people will love it from the start and will appreciate the opening as a different approach to the song and harmony. For those that don't like that part of the track for whatever reason, PLEASE keep reading / listening.

CaraNua's harmony in the song is crystal clear! It's a more tender arrangement than the ways Celtic Woman has performed it. Also, there's a little surprise from the midpoint of the song until the finale. Wink  The harmony in the last quarter of the song is just gorgeous!

Impression So Far

The samples and this full preview track all sound great, so whether you get a hard-copy pre-order or not, this album is definitely worth looking into.

I listened to Jason Tonioli's 'Favorite Hymns' album on Spotify.

O...M...G!!!!

SPOILERS BELOW

The album was beautifully arranged, deeply moving, and tremendously satisfying!

The songs are soft and soothing.

The harmony was crystal clear and quite frankly, breathtaking.

CaraNua or its members are featured on every track except the last one, which is a pleasant instrumental.

The instrumental backing, mostly piano with a touch of orchestration, really compliments their voices. There are some really nice instrumental bridges in some of the songs.

Lynn's solo 'How Great Thou Art' is one of the best Lynn Hilary solos I have ever heard. WOW!!!

Edel's solo is 'Nearer My God To Thee' and it is both lovely and haunting. I was kind of hoping for a three-part harmony with this one, but considering how gorgeous Edel sounded, I have no complaints whatsoever. I loved the little Titanic Easter egg!

This album is really well done and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

The CD finally arrived today!!!

It was signed by Jason ...

... but sadly, not CaraNua.  Cry

It's a little unfortunate considering the cost of shipping from the US was 1.5 times the cost of the album and to get it from the US I had to eat the exchange rate too. But oh well. The way I see it, I paid for the *chance* that they would sign it, so the outcome, while unfortunate must be separated from the choice.

I'm not devastated or anything, just not ridiculously happy either.  Cheesy

Today, CaraNua announced their first show in the US!

New Wings - CaraNua & Jason Tonioli in Concert
Tuesday, January 16, 2018
7 PM - 9:15 PM MST
Weber State University, Austad Auditorium

I've got my fingers crossed for a closer show at some point, that hopefully doesn't conflict with any of the Celtic Woman shows or Chloë concerts I'm going to.

They will once again be in Utah recording a new album this January and have decided to do a special performance while they are here working on the album.  Grin

Don't forget CaraNua's big North American concert debut is in a few days!

I can't go to this one, but I encourage everyone to help spread the word. The more successful the show and the greater the show of support, the better chance we have of them doing more shows on this side of the pond.

Today is CaraNua's big concert debut in the US!

Here is one of the last songs from their rehearsal:
https://www.facebook.com/jason.tonioli/videos/10215408731479586/

Much like Celtic Woman's 3Arena show, I'm somehow managing to feel a rather strong sense of guilt for not being there to support them and a sense of regret for that I will miss their wonderful show. Nonetheless, I am happy for those that can go. I remain hopeful I will be able to see them live one day and enjoy that blissful harmony in person.
