The sun is setting on the Destiny tour and Voices of Angels is on the horizon.

Celtic Woman: Destiny was in the Top 10 of the World Album charts for 37 straight weeks before it finally bowed out of the top 10 for the week of October 22, 2016.

It spent 11 total weeks at the #1 spot on the chart.

UPDATE: As of December 20, 2016, Destiny has spent 47 weeks on the chart (if you include the top 15 instead of just the top 10). So far, it has been on the chart in the top 15 every week since it released except for one!

Still not quite the ridiculous level of chart dominance of some of the previous albums. But considering they've been through 14 lead performers over 12 years and David Downes is no longer with the group, I'd say Destiny had a pretty strong showing.  Smiley

Destiny made a big surge back up the Billboard World Music chart on the strength of the grammy nomination.

I updated the charts and the related notes in this thread.

While Voices of Angels got a boost from Grammy week, it looks like Destiny stayed pretty steady, even though it was the album that was nominated.

LOL.

Voices of Angels is 3 "#1 weeks" away from tying Destiny and the VoA tour is just around the corner.

After 5 consecutive weeks off the charts, it looks like Destiny may have taken it's final bow.

What a run it had!

The album debuted on Feb 06, 2016 at #1  Cheesy

It spent 64 weeks on the World Music charts, including:
  • 11 weeks at #1
  • 37 weeks in the top 10 to open its run
  • 48 total weeks in top 10
  • A string of 41 consecutive weeks on the chart
  • A string of 23 consecutive weeks on the chart after dipping out of the top 15 for a single week

During its run, it dropped out of the charts only once: Nov 19, 2016.

The album's last appearance on the chart was April 29, 2017.

The astonishing chart dominance of Celtic Woman's earlier albums remains unmatched, but I'd say Destiny did extremely well considering the challenges it had to face:
- The first album to not feature any of the original Celtic Woman singers as principal performers (Meav was a guest singer and of course the musical director)
- The first album without David Downes at the helm
- It feature a sound that was very different from their previous albums

The group had already been around for over 11 years when Destiny released. The novelty of the group and its revolutionary sound had worn off a bit and as people's favourite singers moved on, it eroded some of the long-time fan base.

Destiny's performance shows that there's still quite a few very loyal fans out there. I think it's also evidence that the group is continuing to make new fans.

Destiny became the first (and so far only) Celtic Woman album to ever be nominated for a Grammy Award. Although it didn't win, I think the nomination and the excitement surrounding it re-energized parts of the established fan base. It also drew in new fans and brought a level of attention to Celtic Woman that hadn't been achieved since its heyday.

I'm sure Destiny meant different things to different people. It meant the world to me. Destiny quite honestly changed my life. It was the beginning of the end of many unhappy years for me. It motivated me to go see Celtic Woman on tour for the first time. It got me involved in social media and the forums. This album and all the good things that have transpired because of it have made me happier than I've been in a long time.

Thank you so much to everyone involved in this album, to all the fans who supported Destiny, and to all the loyal and passionate Celtic Woman fans who, over the years and all the changes, have kept the flame and still believe. <3
