So what's Hayley up to in LA?

Is she just visiting?

Her Instagram post today had the caption "new beginnings, new songs in LA."

With all the new albums in the works right now, it's easy to read too much into a comment. Hmm...

Anyways, here's the video on her YouTube channel:

I haven't fully dug into this yet, but it seems this probably is related to a new album.

She's apparently been spending a lot of time over the past year or so songwriting.

She did an interview last year mentioning she was preparing to record a new album in 2016. The latest rumor is that the album is expected to release in 2017.

Two songs that seem likely for the new album are:
- Who Will Echo In My Heart
- Greener Lands

I'll do some more poking around this weekend (unless Amy Rivard's doing an impromptu performance in Canada this weekend ... if she is, I'm doing a bit of traveling Cheesy ).

Hi everybody! Hayely first sang that song at her Dublin concert in June. She also sang Who Will Echo My Heart, which she first performed in Taiwan last December. The man playing the guitar is Tom DeLuca, who helped her write the song. At her Dublin concert, he and 2 other songwriters were there, including Sarah Class, who wrote and arranged some of the songs on Pure, as well as co-wrote Let Me Lie. Ronan Hardiman is an Irishman who wrote the song Heaven from Pure. She's visited Ireland twice this year, separate from her concert.

Hayley's been in California since Sept. 18th. She posted a pic from Malibu, and then a week or so later, from LA. Another photo of her with a parrot in someone's patio area led me to the discovery that she's apparently working with Diane Warren (who has worked with David Foster, and DF lives in Malibu), as well as songwriting for many, many well-known singers! That's because Hayley recently started following Diane on twitter, and I saw the parrot on her page.

Hayley has visited the LA area 5 times within the last 2 years. Another time she was working with Stephan Moccio (wrote What You Never Know, and songs by Josh Groban, Mario Frangoulis, and even some pop stars), and also Pam Sheyne, who wrote Never Say Goodbye from Pure.

Anyway, guys, if you really want to stay up to date on Hayley, besides her social media pages, check out the Hayley Westenra International forum. I mean, if you really want news, that's where to go. You don't have to join or log in, just read. Smiley Hayley herself has mostly been quiet on twitter the past year or so, with not much to go on, but this new video shows that's all about to change. So be sure to subscribe to her new channel! Smiley

HWI Forum really is the ultimate Hayley resource, as you can probably tell from Libby's post.  Wink

If  the above  sample  is  any indicator,  then it looks  to  be   a departure  from  her  usual Class/cross   vibe.  Cool

Well, that song may be, but you have to hear the video clip of Who Will Echo My Heart from Dublin. That wasn't classical, but it sounded much too stunningly gorgeous to be called adult contemporary or pop. I just posted that as well as the Dublin setlist in the News section.

Also, note that 3 of the songrwriters we know Hayley's worked with in the past couple years were writers who wrote for her previous albums... her crossover albums. Ronan Hardiman & Heaven; Pam Sheyne & Never Say Goodbye; Stephan Moccio & What You Never Know (that was for Sarah Brightman, originally, though). As a side note, he also wrote the song that Alex sang on tour several years ago, called My Heart Was Home Again, which Josh Groban did first on his Hallmark album in 2007. And, since Sarah Class was present at that concert with the other writers, it makes you wonder if she's involved in Hayley's new future songs, as well. She co-wrote Let Me Lie, as well as Across the Universe of Time on Pure. She also arranged several other songs on Pure, including her most famous ones, Pokarekare Ana and Dark Waltz.

Now, Stepan is also known for writing Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball, and Pam Sheyne has her hand in pop, as well, so their influence could be anything, really.

Also, the fact that David Foster could totally mean there's some crossover music. I mean, he did write the song The Prayer, didn't he?! And Hayley has never sung that on an album before. It would be amazing if she could sometime.

One song that she's performed off and on throughout the years is Vivo Per Lei, and I've always held out hope that this song could be included on her next album, too.

She's still spending quite a bit of time in LA.

Hopefully that's a good sign.  Smiley
