One CWazy Canadian! Chlovër for life!

« on: November 13, 2016, 12:21AM »

This thread is all about the "Kobayashi Maru" (no-win scenarios).

I don't like posting about politics, but seriously, this is a dangerous mess. I mean I'm all for the "come together as one nation" mentality and support whoever wins regardless of who I supported. I do the same thing in Canada if I'm not pleased at the outcome. But I don't know how one reconciles the need for unity with the need to acknowledge that he said and did some really horrible things (not to say that she didn't). Ignoring that nasty stuff just seems like a slap in the face to the people that were offended. I do wish people would keep it constructive though and not further insult each other in the process. But this election and the people involved have put the the US (and by extension, the rest of the world) in a very precarious position.

I almost wish that people just wouldn't post their opinions about politics at all, because it puts all their friends in a crummy situation. Supporting one friend is bound to offend others.

So the route I've been taking for the most part is to just not like, react, or respond at all. But even that has problems, because I have friends whose opinions I respect and agree with and I'm not being a very good friend if I don't support them when they clearly feel strongly about what they're posting.

Seem like there's no way to win, but does anyone have advice?
