Oh you have made me very angry, very angry indeed!

One thing I have noticed from the last 2 cds to feature this lineup is a lack of new a cappella songs. Yes, VOA featured a beautiful new arrangement of Danny Boy but technically it wasn't a cappella cuz there was the light orchestration in the background. This vocal lineup has all the major players! Two sopranos of different styles and an alto who has such depth.

That being said, what's your opinion on the a cappella songs? And what song would you like to hear Celtic Woman cover? I'm going for The Fields Of Athenry and Bette Midler's The Rose.

I thought the a cappella songs (particularly Danny Boy and Somewhere) were very pretty.

As the girls have so eloquently stated (Mairead Carlin in particular in their post-grammy-nomination Facebook stream), it's a moment in an album or show where the rest of the world and all its troubles fall away and there's just the girls and their beautiful music.

A cappella I think worked even better with 4 singers than with 3, but the 3-singer lineups still did an incredible job with those songs.

Destiny opted for light orchestration to begin with and I think it would have been a bit risky to do an a cappella at that point:
- It was their first album / DVD without David Downes
- Eabha was pretty much brand new at the time and her voice is something they've never had before

I think it takes a lot of work to get the harmony and balance just right for an a cappella with voices that are that different. Maybe they just needed some time to get it sounding perfect. It sounded incredible on tour!

In Voices of Angels, the orchestration was a huge part of the album. That said, I think an a cappella on that album would have created an interesting contrast from the other songs.

I think they'll certainly continue to do them on tour and the very least and likely on future albums as well.

The A cappella of Somewhere Over the Rainbow done in only (three) is my favorite!
I love the anj version, but I think I like this one even more esp Alex, Susan & Mairead on it which is the only one I found
online other than Meav with them. Lynn on the anniversary tour is probably the best, this song is beautiful with her in it telling by the skate from the heart show but for the anniversary tour I saw her along Alex I'm sure is breath-taking.

I also wonder of her along Alex I'm sure is breath-taking esp since Susan & Alex did The Wizard of Oz together in the past a great memory and way they reunited for the 10th Tour WOW!
Danny Boy from 2009- 2015 is the BEST 10th tour a favorite by the style of 3 girls!

As for other's to do I don't know ....

They're my favorite group songs of the bunch.

The big thing about VoA is that they sung with an orchestra. It doesn't make much sense to put an a capella one on that album.

I'm waiting for them to come up with some very interesting and different harmonies thanks to Eabha's voice. I don't think they were quite sure of what to do with her yet either.  Tara's a singer too, so if they decide to put her in an a capella song they'll have another part for the harmonies.

Does anyone have any song suggestions for an a cappella song?

Might be a weird idea, but what about "Yesterday" (Beatles)?

It ties in nicely with the theme of the troubles of the world seeming so far away.

"Wonderful World" might also work well. Mary, Kate, and Dani ("Mary, Kate, No Ashley") do an a very nice a cappella version of that song.

I  have  thought  for  a  long  time  that  Meav  would  render  "The  Unchained  melody"  gorgeously like  no one  else. And  in  a  capella  style ...   Smiley

I'd love to hear CW sing "Noël Nouvelet" as an a capella. Kiss

And also "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" with the choir.
