Mairead Carlin and Eabha did a Q+A live on Facebook on January 19, 2017 from Eabha's home in Dublin, Ireland.

Facebook Video:
https://www.facebook.com/celticwoman/videos/10154948416052838/

It was quite an enjoyable Q+A. There were some really good questions (and some they've been asked / answered a bunch of times before).

I have posted a detailed list of questions and answers below.

Intro:
* Didn't get to see each other much over Christmas holidays
* But had a great time at home with family and friends
* They're gearing up for the Voices of Angels tour and are excited about the Grammy Awards
* People back in Ireland have been really excited about the Grammy nomination

Q: Do you rehearse before every show?
A:
* They do sound check before each show which also helps them get them mentally prepared and vocally warmed up for the show.
* They try not to wear themselves out during the day. They want to be fresh for the show so they can put on the best performance possible.
* They rehearse a lot before the start of a tour.
* They do "house keeping" during tours, to work on perfecting particular things

Q: Are you planning on recording a PBS special / DVD for Voices of Angels?
A:
* The ladies are very hopeful they will get to do one
* The PBS specials apparently get put together on fairly short notice
* They don't expect to know or start preparing for a special until after the Voices of Angels tour
* They normally do specials before the tour
* They decided before recording the Voices of Angels album if they were going to do one for Voices of Angels, they would try doing after the tour, because they'd have the benefit of having sung the songs a lot of times and perfecting them. The could also incorporate their journey, emotions, and experiences from the tour into their performances.

Q: What's your favorite song you perform?
A:
* Mairead: Nella Fantasia (solo), Danny Boy (group)
* Mairead talked about the connection the girls share during the song.
* Eabha: Danny Boy and Walk Beside Me
* Eabha talked about Mairead took Eabha's hand the first time they performed it in front of a crowd (during the Destiny recording)

Q: What do you think is the best place you'd want to live?
A:
* Both answered Ireland
* Mairead lived in London, England for 8 years but moved back to Northern Ireland (around the time she joined Celtic Woman) and has never looked back

Q: Are the gowns heavy?
A:
* No
* They feel great wearing the dresses
* They talked about some of the goofy things they do in the dressing room before the show

Q: What are your favorite Broadway musicals?
A:
* Mairead: Showboat, Carousel, works by Stephen Sondheim (ie. A Little Night Music)

Q: How do you entertain yourselves from location to location?
A:
* Morning: workouts, finding unique, local places / coffee shops or places with vegan food
* Eabha says Mairead is good at finding unusual, hidden gems to go to

Q: Favorite Celtic Woman moment?
A:
* Both said the Destiny special
* Mairead: her father was unwell by the time they recorded Destiny but he stood up at the end of Westering Home. It was a deeply touching moment for her.
* Mairead mentioned they did the Tír na nÓg video during Eabaha's first week with Celtic Woman. It was kind of funny the first thing Eabha did in Celtic Woman was something so different from anything they'd done previously. Eabha was wondering what she had gotten herself into Wink

Q: Who do you look up to most?
A:
* Mairead: People that have a positive message / impact on the world, Elin Manahan Thomas (singer), her mom
* Eabha: Her granny <3

Q: What's your favorite places to perform?
A:
* Mairead: Fox Theatre in Detroit, Red Rocks, Radio City Music Hall, Wolf Trap
* Eabha mentioned Wolf Trap was the place she went to see Celtic Woman before she was in the group. There was apparently a big storm and the girls were told if they were told to get off stage to do so quickly and get the basement.

Q: What song was the hardest to learn?
A:
* Eabha: Si Do Mhaimeo
* Mairead: Dulaman, because in Northern Ireland, they speak less Irish. Eabha said when Mairead speaks Irish, it sounds natural.
* The girls saw the preliminary set list for Voices of Angels today. Mairead is singing Dulaman. Wink

Q: Do you have any pets and if so, what are they?
A:
* Mairead mentioned she had a dog called Bono that got out the back door during holidays and she never saw the dog again

Q: Do you like Glenn and Ronan?
A:
* Yes, obviously
* Mairead is married to Ronan
* Side-note: Eabha was giving informal singing lessons to Glenn during the Destiny tour, sort of teaching him her unique style.

Closing:
* They're looking forward to seeing us on tour!

I took the liberty of making a collage for the girls' Q+A session.

It's not exactly a work of art, but hopefully they enjoy it a little. It took longer than it looks. I really need to start using a collage-making tool or something. GIMP is super-powerful, but there's a lot of clicking involved.

Mairead Carlin is the SWEETEST,most PERSONABLE person you could want to meet. After last year`s concert, she was the first one out, chatting with everyone and seeming to enjoy it THOUGHLY.....she noticed my "Got Mairead?" shirt and chatted with me,and was just...soooooo nice. Can`t wait till April...hope I get to chat with her again....I`ll certainly be wearing my "got Mairead?" shirt again.

As for a VOA special I'm not curious about that..
due to I rather go slow step by step as what songs would be on the tour.
The tour is the highlight starter for 2017 not the afters!

A  It could be All Voices Of Angels material.
B Voices Of Angels with Destiny bits & CW favorites

If they do a DVD recording this year, I think I have to try to go.

Going to be ridiculously difficult if it's on short notice, but I'm going to have to find a way.
