I listened to Orla's new album, Sweet By and By.
I really enjoyed it. It was sweet, soothing, and uplifting.
Compared to her previous albums, this one has a bit more of a Country feel to many of the songs. For the most part, it's more of a mild Country flavor compared to Lisa Lambe's Hiding Away. If you have a low tolerance for that style of music, some of the songs may turn you off.
The album also has some spiritual themes, some songs more overtly than others.
There aren't really any tracks on the album I didn't enjoy. The opening track felt a tiny bit repetitive, but I think that's more of a personal opinion than a reflection on the song.
There were several tracks I connected with quite deeply. 'Remember Me' and 'When the Right One Comes Along' were two of my favourites. The title track, In the Sweet By and By' was also quite lovely.
If you liked Orla's previous albums, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy this one as well. I certainly did!
