.....can hear their mother's voice from 16 weeks gestation.

Can you just imagine that precious child thinking "Wow! what is that?"

This was just one of the many amazing surprises when I was pregnant.

I discovered my baby could hear when the car door slammed and he jumped - what a sensation!

I tried it again - yes, I was sure he could hear it.

Later I asked my doctor at what stage babies could hear. Yep, about the fourth month of pregnancy.

So that's when I started singing to him and playing my favourite classical and Irish music.
It's a great way to soothe a baby. He never needed a pacifier.
He has had good taste in music ever since, even when he was a teenager.

Of course, Lisa's baby has a great big advantage over mine.....his / her Mommie's voice is the best in the world!
Just imagine - he / she hears "The Voice" belted out every night!
He / she feels Mommie's hand bless him / her as she sings "The Blessing".

What better start could any child have?

Maggie,
You being a mother gives us first hand knowledge of that experience. What an experience that must be.

Yes, Lisa has the best voice in the world to sing to her baby, and she shares it with all the rest of us. I am so thankful to Lisa for sharing her healing voice to all who will hear her sing.

Thank you Maggie.

Maggie,
Beautifully said.

That child (and siblings) are very fortunate to have Lisa as a mother.
Lisa is fortunate to have a career that allows her to follow her dream.
And, lets not forget us...we are fortunate to be the grateful recipients of that most wonderful dream!

Take care of yourself, Lisa!

Thank you Maggie. That could explain why I've never really gotten into the pop and rock and even punk and hip hop that my friends have. My mother always told me she sang to me when she was pregnant with me.

Babies are amazing!
Not only can they hear from the 4th month, but their memory kicks in early too.
A good friend of mine (Kathleen) in our Irish Club has 3 adorable little granddaughters.
When the middle one was only a few months old, she was at our meeting in her car seat.
At the end of the meeting, Kathleen discovered she had locked the key in the car.
She called her daughter to come with the spare key, and I waited with them so I could help  if anything went wrong.

I stayed with baby while Kathleen went to the bathroom, and I sang "Too-ra Loo-ra Loo-ra" (That's an Irish lullaby) and got the baby to sleep.
Every time I stopped, the baby cried until I started again.

Well, I created a monster! They could not get the baby to sleep without that song!
They called me so I sang it over the phone.
After that, Kathleen sang it to her every night.

Not only that, but I sang it to her little sister, and now she insists on it too!

Every time they see me at our events, they run up to me for "our song".

Which reminds me, I have to go to an Irish picnic now......yes, those little girls will be there!

The piano player at my church just had a baby and she has the baby in a sling while she plays the piano! It is so cute! I was always curious at what sounds babies can hear.  I bet that baby enjoyed listening to the choir while still in the womb. Cheesy

I know that there is scientific evidence that babies end up growing up prefering music they heard while in the womb. BUT, of course, its different for me. My mom was a polka fan, and I never acquired a strong affinity for that genre of music. My parents were also good polka dancers, but I seem to have 2 left feet.

I think that is so sweet. My mom love music and singing it to. Now I also love music and also singing it to I think that I love music because of what she listen to when my mom was still pregnant. Smiley
