Hi-  I downloaded Orlagh's "Down by the Sally Gardens" from Itunes. By far one of Orlagh's best songs I've ever heard even though it's not on any of the CW albums.  Definitely lot's of Irish heart and soul in this song.

Welcome jms.

Down by the Sally Gardens is a great song that I grew up with.... made all the better with Órlagh's beautiful voice singing it.  If you look on Itunes, you will find her Water is Wide solo cd which has other traditional Irish songs on it.
Happy listening, and look forward to chatting with you!!!

I love the song Down by the Salley Gardens.  It's the first song I learned to play with both hands on the harp, and ironically, the only song that Orlagh doesn't play harp on for her album.  I still love her version though, as well as the tune itself.   Wink

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.  Erin I went back to Itunes and purchased "The Water is Wide" single.  What a beautiful song.  Reminiscent to  Sally Gardens in many ways but still it's own song. Thanks for the recommendation.

A belated welcome jms to the forum!

Down By the Sally Gardens is a beautiful song and Orlagh's rendition of it is nothing short of haunting. Just Orlagh's beautiful voice and a simple orchestration.

I was listening to Orlagh's CD today and love how she presents each of the songs.  Her voice is so lovely and each song sung with such emotion.  Can't wait for her new CD to come out.

She really charms you, doesn't she?  I'm afraid we're hooked in large numbers at this point!  When her new CD comes out (hopefully very soon), let's not make her wait long to show her how much we like it!   Grin Grin
