I looked at the list of champions but Mairead was not on there. I am confused?
Anyone one the answer to this?

The standards are so very high in the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann (All-Ireland Championships), that the top three in all classes can call themselves "All-Ireland Champion".

I'm guessing the list you mention only shows one in each class.

If you love Irish music, you want to see the Irish doing what they love, and you want a completely different experience you can only get in Ireland, go to Tullamore, County Offaly from August 19th to 26th. Take your dancing shoes!
Your senses will be on overload.....music and dancing sessions breaking out on every corner and in every pub.
You will be drawn into it even as a spectator.
Tullamore has been chosen as the host town for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2007.
It's a good choice, right in the middle of Ireland.

Just want to add this about the All-Ireland Championship.

There are competitions not only in playing traditional instruments for individuals and bands,
but also in dancing and Irish language conversation.

The performers who earn the right to call themselves "All-Ireland Champion" have indeed reached the pinnacle of their art.
They must win County and Regional Championships before they can qualify for the All-Ireland.

There are also regional competitions here in the USA and Canada.

There is a great one coming up in St Louis. I think it's in May, I'll look it up and get back to you.
