If you ever come down here to Orlando, we will go to Mass together.....
you can meet our lovely Irish Priest, and hear some fabulous music.

The melody for the hymn and for Danny Boy was originally called Londonderry Air, an anthem of Northern Ireland.

It was never considered a traditional Irish melody.
Around 100 songs & hymns have been set to it.
I have seen it described as a "reel" which of course it is not.
I know many Irish singers and bands who will not sing "Danny Boy", and yet it is one of the most requested.

I'm a clergy offspring myself. My late dad was an ELCA pastor. I know he would have loved CW. My mom loves the CW Christmas DVD I gave her.
