Looks like a lot of people came dressed as empty seats. The economy is really having an affect on crowds.

I was really surprised to hear Dale JR fell out with a blown engine " 2nd time that's happened at Indy when he had a good car." I was also surprised that Montoya blew the race with a speeding penalty and Martin couldn't catch Johnson in the end. Congrats to Johnson though 2 years in a row!

Yeah, the crowd in Chicago was pathetic. Wonder if Bristol will be sold out.

Bristol might sell out but probably will sell out from walk up tickets. They used to have a two or three year waiting period for tickets there before the rescission.

And before they reconfigured the track. Bristol is not the same track it used to be.

I thought the racing's been pretty good at Bristol since they put the progressive banking in and straiten the corner exits, getting rid of the humps. Before, getting off the corners 2 wide would cause the guy on the inside lane to give up exit speed because the car would push the last bit. Now both lanes can work equally well if the cars setup correctly.

Okay, let me start by saying that I don't dislike Bristol and I don't think the racing is any worse there than anywhere else. What I do think is that Bristol, before the changes, was a very special place. I always thought that the thing that made it special was the tightness of the line and the fact that the speeds were slow enough to allow a great deal of aggressiveness by the drivers. They could beat and bang on one another and, in most cases, not crash. Someone would get knocked out of the way and they would catch up and return the favor.

Since the track has been "improved" and the groove is wider, drivers are more polite. Wink Granted, some of that may be due to the points system forcing a bit of conservatism, but I blame most of it on the track changes.

Of course that's just my opinion. I don't expect everyone to agree with me and I bear no ill will against those who do. Smiley

I never really liked races where the pace car led the most laps.

Amazing comeback by Jimmie, rotten day for Cousin Carl, and the souvenier salesman is now 500 points out of the chase with five races left.

Yeah Jimmie's gonna be a contender this year. He's always seems to start the year kinda quiet and around Indy he come to life, Hope Stewart or Martin or even Gordon can win the cup, I can't stand to see Cale Yarborough's Streak of 3 championships in a row broken.

The Tasmanian driver,  Marcos Ambrose got the win yesterday in the nationwide race at the Glen passing Kyle Busch to take the win. Hope the weather holds off for the cup race, The cup cars do not have rain tires for the road courses.
