Terry LeBonte and Bobby Lebonte and some other drivers were at my state fair last night signing autographs. I didn't have the money or time to try and get a autograph, but I did get to glance at the cars. They were Nationwide series cars and an older style car as well as a truck series one that well I have never gotten into those races. But boy was it cool to get close to a car. They are a lot smaller than you think they are. They always look so big on TV.

Cool! The Labonte's are really nice, My aunt who lives in NC does business with them too.

Yes they are quite small. It was funny though when my dad was working the motorcycle event at Daytona back in 2002 he commented that the track upclose didn't look wide enough for 2 wide racing let alone 3 or 4 wide racing.

Back in the 90`s, the local Chevy dealer had one of Dale Sr.`s Lumina`s on the showroom floor. It had actually been raced and you could smell the exhaust fumes and grease oder as you got near it.It definitely looked cramped inside.

Yeah if you go to the hall of fame in NC they have all cars and smells and thing there and it is cool because you can see the scratches and things on the car. Some of the cars are still leaking oil and the tires are flat. They are an awesome site to see. I wish I could sit in one.

Congrats to Clint Bowyer  edging out his teammate for the win today at Talladega. But also today was marked with tragedy once again this time in the Sepang MotoGP race when Marco Simoncelli lost his life in an accident...

thankful there was no "big one" at `Dega but lots of "small ones" shuffeled the points.

17 year old motorcycle road racing sensation Elena Myers recently finished second in a Championship Cup Series (CCS) race at Daytona Raceway, USA (Not an American Motorcyclists Association (AMA) race). The significant thing to me is Elena is said to have had a race long battle for the lead with Dane Westby. Dane is one of the fastestest guys in the AMA!

Image from http://www.elenamyers.com/

Suzuki thinks so highly of Elena they arranged for her to ride the Suzuki/Rizla Moto GP bike at the Indy Moto GP race late last summer (2011). For those who don't know; Moto GP bikes are hand built "works" machines of the highest order in the sport of two wheeled racing. Suzuki/Rizla stated Elena was the fourth person to ever ride the thing. Elena's lap times during her 5 lap "gift" have not been published but people there said Elena wasn't timid and had the thing at nearly 200 MPH on the front straight.

The girl cleans up very nice! This image is from a high school Senior Ball. Elena's wound suggest spring/summer of 2010 when she had a broken wrist from a Super Motard racing crash. Elena's racing career made it necessary to complete high school in a distance method (not unlike Chloë Agnew). This she did at a race pace and with straight "As". Her parents and racing sponsers would have nothing less. This is probably her boyfriends Senior Ball and not hers. Don't know his name but he's a fine looking bloke!

Elena will turn 18 late November 2011. Hold on to your hat! It's a brave new world!

FASTEST (the movie) to be released 15 November. Pre-orders available now for US and Canada residents.

…Shot around the world in 2010 and 2011 FASTEST distills the thrilling, terrifying reality of the Moto GP world championship into a maximum speed, full length documentary feature film…
Full article and more information here: http://www.fastestthemovie.com/

I suspect these are not rated but I would put the trailer at a G or PG.

3:04 minute movie trailer here:

FASTEST has been dedicated to the memory of the late Marco “Super Sic” Simoncelli, Moto GP #58.

She is quite the female racer! Had the chance to read that article she did for the November 2011 issue of Road Racing World magazine and her first impressions on Alvaro Bautista's Suzuki GSV-R 800 Moto GP bike at Indianapolis. Such a humble girl. It was a great read!

I've been meaning to mention that Elena is also a professional writer. Thanks for your reply Jeff.

Elena writes a lengthy column for Roadracing World Magazine each month which is available by online subscription or snail mail subscription. She also recently entered her first job, you guessed it, at a motorcycle shop.

Elena is a very fine and impressive young lady. I hope she can squeeze in a degree or two while pursuing her career. 'Cause, ya know, the racing might not work out in the long run.
