I wasn't able to watch the race.  I was in the driver's room at our terminal (only 1 tv) and everyone else wanted to watch football, so I followed it on the live update page on Yahoo Sports.  They showed a lap by lap update and had a live chat section - not the same as watching, but kind of exciting to be able to keep up with what was happening on the track.
I have not been a big fan of NASCAR this year, but I will give them one more chance to keep my interest next year.
I only got to watch part of a couple races this year as I am usually working and really can't stand to listen to the radio guys who call the races.  So, maybe next year I can see more.

I am sure a recording of this last race will be available at some time soon.

Thank you to you guys who post updates during the races.  I appreciate it.

It may not be a real race but I had a pretty good virtual one the other day a Mondello Park, Ireland. If you like classic cars you may like this one. Grin I was red Ford Escort RS.

WOW! What news to wake up to this morning!

From the Penske Racing website---
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (December 5, 2011) - Penske Racing announced today that it has reached a mutual agreement with driver Kurt Busch to end its driver/race team relationship, effective immediately.

The team will evaluate its options for the driver of the No. 22 Sprint Cup Series car in the future while Busch will seek new opportunities with another race team.

"I appreciate the victories that Kurt has brought Penske Racing and our sponsors over the past six years," said Roger Penske. "While I am disappointed that Kurt will not be racing for our team in the future, both Kurt and I felt that separating at this time was best for all parties, including our team and sponsors. I wish Kurt the best in his future racing endeavors."

"I am grateful to Penske Racing for six very productive years," said Busch. "Together we won a lot of races -16 in all. Leaving a great organization and a lucrative contract is not easy, but it's an important step for me and allows me to take a deep breath to work on things that can make me a better driver and a better person. I want to personally thank Roger Penske for the opportunity that he has given me."

Penske Racing is one of the most successful teams in the history of professional sports. Competing in a variety of disciplines, cars owned and prepared by Penske Racing have produced 350 major race wins, 412 pole positions and 23 National Championships. For more information about Penske Racing, please visit www.penskeracing.com.

For those that don't know, Kurt was involved in a incident at Homestead a few weeks ago where after his transmission broke. He was asked to do an interview by Dr. Jerry Punch. Kurt was extremely agitated and verberly disrespected Jerry and the camera crew involved in the interview. This was captured by a fan and posted on Youtube.

This hasn't been an isolated incident with Kurt. His last two crew chiefs have left the team due to his verbal assaults on the team radio. He's also had scuffles with Jimmie Johnson this year and the Media. In 2008 He and Tony Stewart had words after a incident in Practice for the Daytona Shootout and subsequent name calling on Kurt's part. In 2003 He was Punched in the nose by Jimmie Spencer after mouthing off to him shortly after an on track incident.

This really shakes things up since there is a lack of available rides for 2012. It also potentially opens up a quality seat for Some big name drivers left without rides for 2012 including David Ragan, Brian Vickers, and David Reutimann.

The fallout from all this is going to be quite interesting to say the least.

well, his last name IS Busch, isn`t it? For the last couple of years in his interviews he`s played "oh so nice" but you always had the feeling it was a "put on" behind that false smile.

And I thought maybe Kurt Busch was a good guy:

Shows ya' I don't know much 'bout NASCAR.  Smiley

Do you think this is the first of more "shake-ups" in NASCAR teams?

How about that Erica! Wish she could have won the event that day!

He puts up a better facade when the cameras are rolling, lol.

I don't know if there will be to much shake up from any of the other teams. Real the drama is around the Busch Brothers at this time. Kyle better be thanking his lucky stars M&M's and Gibbs didn't drop him last month.

But for Kurt it's an up hill battle. I really hope he can turn his life around and conquer his attitude issues. He's a good driver, He just can not be belittling his crew over the radio when the car isn't driving right and disrespecting reporters doesn't help much either... For example a guy some people have considered a hot head at times is Dale Sr. He would whoop your butt if you weren't giving your all, But he would never disrespect you or belittle you. A man would never do that.

Again this is gonna be an ultimate wake up call to both Busch's Kurt's got 2 strikes already and has been following suite...

Hmmmmmm.  I thought it would have been Kyle who got the boot from JG.  Penske Racing probably decided it has a name and reputation to protect, that the Kurt Busch product was not something they wanted with their brandname.  Kurt has been running with a short fuse for a long time and they just don't need the in-house squabbling or a potential public relations disaster.  Championship runs cannot afford such distractions.

Kyle, meanwhile, had better tread softly.  Joe's a nice guy but he ain't dumb.

So the Busch brothers have problems with anger manegment....we ALL could say that at one time or another  only they went around with the attitude"don`t you know who I am???"   ...it worked for a while.

...The inclusion of Elena Rosell on the 2012 Moto2 entry list is sure to resurrect the intense debate that started with her first appearance in the championship, as a wildcard entry for Team Aspar at Assen...

...As Tammy Wynette said; sometimes it’s hard to be a woman...

Full, and somewhat complicated, article here: http://www.livefrompitlane.com/2011/12/13/sometimes-its-hard-to-be-a-woman/

Buried within the article US motorcycle racing phenom AMA # 21 Elena Myers is quoted:

...“rather race against men and never be world champ, than race against just women and be world champ.”...

Regardless the convoluted article, Elena Rosell has a Moto2 ride for 2012.

It was announced yesterday that AJ Allmendinger will be the driver of the Penske #22 Dodge for 2012. David Ragan is a strong possibility for the #43 car at RPM. There is a rumor that Kurt Busch could be driving for his Brothers team in the Nationwide series in 2012 as well as a possibility he might take a year off from Nascar and run in the Pro Stock division in the NHRA.

Interesting stuff!  Smiley

In pro motorcycle racing this off season period of change is called the "silly season". Is it also called that in NASCAR?

I think it's the universally adopted name for off season changes in motorsports, lol. BTW It was also announced yesterday that Kurt Busch will drive Phoenix racings #51 for 2012. This was the team that won Talladega in 2009.

Tune in for next weeks episode of "As The Wheel Turns" , starring the Busch Brothers.  Will Kurt open his own complaint department in the #51 pit area?  Will he suffer facial cracks as a result of his false smile?  Will Kyle`s authobiography "Don`t you know who I am?" be a success? Will his new DVD titled "RULES???  what are those?"  sell?  Tune in and see....sponsered by Dr. Jasper Mc Lugnut `s DVD "Anger Manegement for Dummies".

Big news today in Nascar. Ford unveils their 2013 design as well as Nascar's new design of the "Car of Tomorrow". It is more designed around the real contours of the street version. I have to say I really dig this new concept and I can't wait to get a CW scheme put together on it! Wink
