She is terrific in the new show!  I think she is beginning to loosen up a bit and I even got a smile from her in Chicago!! Maybe she was just laughing at me-- oh well, a smile is a smile, is a smile!!  Cheesy

The best-known version of Carolina Rua is by Mary Black.
There is more Caribbean rhythm in her version than the composer intended, especially since he based it on "The Crooked Road" which is a Reel. I have that from Thom Moore himself.
Here is his own version of the song:

I think Lynn's version is much smoother than Mary Black's, I believe Thom will be happy with it.....and you must admit, Thom....
she's prettier than you!

She's prettier than a lot of people! Especially aging males! Tongue I can't say how much I love this song.

I LOVE Mary Black, I haven't been able to decide which version of Carolina Rua I prefer yet...right now I think they're both neck and neck for me.

Couldn't agree more. Saw CW twice in Seattle and during At the Celli she looked like she was having lots of fun performing with Lisa and Alex.

I mentioned to Lynn at a Meet & Greet that I thought Erin Beo would have been most appropriate to the theme of the Isle of Hope tour.  In reflecting on it though, those mass immigrations occurred before Ellis Island opened and so wouldn't have been entirely consistent with the theme.  The other one we mentioned as a possibility was Swimming in the Barrow, which also would have been very entertaining.  It's hard to argue with such an obvious hit as Carolina Rua, though!  Wink Grin

Probably a dumb question---what is a  "rua"  a game, a dance ?  I don't understand this song at all.

Ruadh (short form "rua") is Gaelic for "red".  Carolina Rua is a song about a redhead named Carolina.

Lyrics:
Stories never end 'til you come to conclusions:
Carolina ruadh has a hand in my confusion.
Waits for me to choose which quarter to bend in.
To Susie-Make-Me-Blue, or the redhead I'm attending.

Oh Carolina ruadh has my heart and all I want to do's
Go down the windy road where my Carolina goes:
Down the crooked road where Carolina goes to school
Mo Charolina ruadh, do you love me?
Tell me true, tell me......
Standing on three queens, thought the game was over.
Then, from the blue, Carolina's at my shoulder:
Laughter in her eyes and a smile
That touches all the guys

On down the crooked road where Carolina goes to school
--Mo Charolina ruadh, do you love me?
Tell me true, tell me..
