I tell you what I love about Lisa is there are times when her great amount of stage theater experience
makes you wonder if you are watching Celtic Woman or Oklahoma. Lisa has this acting prowess, that accentuates her singing power. And it is so
pronounced and evident, as you watch and listen to her, that you wonder how you ever lived before without her voice.
I can't really explain it, I'm sure others have seen and heard it but might have difficultly putting it into words (as I am having trouble putting it into words). David Downes says in the Greatest Journey documentary, that Lisa has an earthy motherly voice. I could see that the very first day I heard her at the 1st CW Helix concert when she sang 'May It Be' from Lord of the Rings:FOTR. I almost couldn't believe what I was hearing. She sounded like what I imagined the 'Lady of the Lake' in King Arthur stories would sound like. I'm not kidding. I could almost see her, in my minds eye, standing out in there in some unknown English lake, singing to Arthur to return Excaliber to her.
So later as I learned more about the Celtic Woman projects, I found myself wanting to sing along with Lisa everytime I heard her (I may have said this before that I have a natural gift 1st tenor singing voice, untrained but warmed up, I can sound pretty good). Anyway, Lisa's voice is so welcoming that she makes me want to sing along with her (maybe other music people feel this way too when they hear her sing). Lisa's vocal range is 1st alto/2nd soprano but I think she can sing higher. Her voice just moves me to follow her into her songs. And (because I'm 1st tenor) basically it's easy to sing along with her, as she only seems to select songs that make her voice sound the very best that it can.
Well that is all I should say, as it is so difficult to describe any one of the Celtic Woman ladies voices completely.
They are all fantastic in their own marvelous unique ways.
But I gave it a try, trying to describe what I love about Lisa here. So I hope you thank Lisa for being with Celtic Woman and sharing her talent with us so freely. Thank you Lisa for sharing your talent with us.
Bye for now,
CB
