There is a way you can get away with cheating. You can make healthy "bad" foods. Use whole wheat flour Use splenda instead of sugar (they even make brown sugar) Use skim milk You can even substitue eggs with 2 tbls of oil and 1 tbls water (olive oil being the best for you) Of course, if you eat the whole thing in one sitting, it doesn't help (that would be my problem ) Oh yeah, and don't eat it before bed(yet another of my problems...)

Hey Poohbah ........all the diet info. is great ..........but I'm not hearing much about exercise (although you did mention your unused treadmill).
I'm sure you've heard this a million times, but I can assure that 1/2 hour of walking EVERY DAY will really help .......but you must be patient and persistent ..............and do it "forever".
Once you see results, you may be encouraged to increase the pace/distance, which will only allow you to lose more weight.
I represent the "voice of experience" on this ........and I know it works ........but it's not so easy, and does require a lifestyle change.

Thank all of you for your encouragement and advise.
I definitely plan to increase my exercise. I try to bake breads and muffins with whole wheat. Cookies and cakes need white flour. (Why am I talking about those? Slap myself again.) I do not get acceptable results with Splenda.
I will keep you informed of my progress.
