Okay, basically Celtic Woman has decided to do Orla's songs again. Who would sing them? The list of songs follows:

Carrifergus (would harp be included?)
Harry's Game
Isle of Inisfree (would harp be included?)
Newgrange
Siuil A Run (Walk My Love)

This can apply to any Celtic Woman, although I'd prefer if you'd stick with the current cast. You can make up a new member if you want. Would the harp still be in the songs that originally had them? Let's see what you think.

Realistically I think the only ones they could do without Harp would be Siuil a Run and Harry's game...the others would require a Harp and (not that I'm at all biased) one of the girls could sing them, but the impact would differ greatly..Orlagh's voice and personality is just suited to those songs, and I always thought they were music very special to her and it showed in her performances.
It would be as some of the current Tour songlist..same songs, but different without her..her voice is so distinctive.
Personally having seen the IOH Tour 3 times without Orlagh, and will see it 2 more times in the next month..I miss Orlagh's persona on the stage very much. It added something very special and I thought quite unique. That was why I found CW so special with the original 5 Ladies. Each brought something unique to the show.
But that's my opinion.  Grin

I agree with Bruce. I think one of the current CW ladies could do a fine job with Siuil a Run. As a matter of fact, Lisa sings it on her solo cd. But, those songs belong to Orlagh, her voice and style just as  "The Voice " belongs to Lisa.

Okay, I don't want to offend anyone who likes Orla to do Orla's songs alone, she probably has the best songs (next to Lisa and Alex) and would be hard to imagine anyone else singing them. But I will create a list:

Carrifergus (would harp be included?)- Rose (hypotethical new member)
Harry's Game- Alex
Isle of Inisfree (would harp be included?)- Rose
Newgrange- Lynn
Siuil A Run (Walk My Love)- Lisa

Leprechaun..absolutely no offense taken by anyone here....IF they did decide to do Orlagh's songs from the past CW shows, no doubt any of the current Ladies could handle them.
Let's face facts, these Women, and the Musician's who have worked on CW over the years, are outstanding performers, and as we all know..they handle pretty much any music and do it with style, grace and a professionalism too rare in the US Music Industry today..(I think I've said this before many times..but some more won't hurt...) I think that's why they are all so popular..many people are, and have been, looking for good, well done, meaningful music. So it's no surprise to me of the success of this group over time.
But, that's just my opinion. Grin Grin

Well said!!! Completely agree but i have to say its not only in the US-Music-Industry. i think that it is a nearly world-wide "problem"... (if you know what i'm trying to say...)

It's a given that all the CW performers are very talented and any of them could sing the songs.

However, there is a problem. Orlagh's voice is very unique. According to David (and I agree), it is haunting. Her voice just fits some songs perfectly. One of the things that makes David a genius is his ability to choose and arrange songs to fit a particular performer. That he has done so in selecting songs for Orlagh to perform, and considering the uniqueness of her voice, it would be very difficult for someone else to sing them without drawing comparisons to the way Orlagh did them, usually with the new performer coming out looking not so good. As an example, Lisa (who I absolutely love) does Carrickfergus and Siuil A Run on her solo CD. She does a very nice job on them. But every time I hear her do one of them, my first thought is, "that's not Orlagh."

My suggestion would be to simply not do those songs. However, if they were going to do one or more of them, I think an ensemble performance with a very different arrangement would be the only way to pull it off.

no one could sing Orla's songs. if one of the other girls did it would sound the same as it did when she sang them. Its like once u hear Orla sing songs like those u kno  that no one else can sing them. like someone else on here had said they belong to Orla.
