I think the best one ( And with Orlagh in the picture they are all great) is the one in a different thread with Orlagh and Kelli, arms open ready to hug. It shows just what a special person Orlagh is.

Actually, when I saw this thread I thought; this is impossible. Like Órla's songs, there are so many great pictures how can one have a fav? Then I remembered this picture from Órla's, landmark, spring '09 Newsletter.

Yep, this is my absolutely, positively fav picture of Órla Fallon:

As I understand this is a picture of Órla with her first harp. I don't know for sure but she could be as young as 14 here. At this point in her life Órla has no idea of the great things she will achieve. But she is gifted from God, has a loving and supporting family- including especially the positive influence from an adoring grandmother. But perhaps most of all Órla has her dreams and a personal work ethic that will propel her into, not just success, but artistic triumph.

That really is an interesting and nice pic. Orla sure looks cute! I recommend though we dont get into an age guessing type thing, or the thread might get locked, and this is a good thread.

I recently had to pick a picture or 2 of Orla for autographs, since I attended the Cleveland Dec 4th show. My #1 pic is the one in the first post of this thread, by talia. I think thats sort of the prime pic, because she just finished singing AND has the harp there. Plus the smile, the overall look, everything is perfect. My #2 pic was very similar. had her smiling, sitting by the harp. Its by some photographer. Cant recall who now.

But there is one pic that COULD be almost perfect. She is at the harp singing, and there is sort of light behind her, sort of coming out at her. slightly above her in the center. Almost a halo effect. But the light also messes it up. If it could be adjusted, the brightness, contrast, etc, could be very cool. But thats beyond my computer capability.

One cant go wrong with that first pic!

Off topic: Is it just me or did Órla always get the best gowns when with CW?

Yes thats it. I think its from the CW web page, one of their threads there. Cant remember for sure though. But if this pic could be tweeked a little bit, lowering the light just a tad, and adding some detail , or is it contrast? But she is singing, playing the harp, and looks great with how the light sort of illuminates her.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE that picture of her!!!!!!!  And you guys are right.  I think that dress is absolutely gorgeous.  I love the sash.  :D :D :D

Here's a picture obviously taken at the same photo shoot as the picture identifyed by Cash. This image has always been one of my favs. In fact, long ago when I "stole it" off of Órla's first Forum, I labeled it, THE INCOMPARABLE Ms ÓRLA FALLON.

Harps are stunningly beautiful instruments. With Órla, the supremely accomplished harpists, standing so straight and tall beside one... On second thought maybe I should stop before I get silly.

For the first time I've noticed Órla's hair is quite long here. The CW fans among us who are more observant and have better memories than me will be able to place this within the grand sweep of CW history.

Is it widely known by Órla's fans that she is in fact wearing her wedding dress for this photo shoot?

Órla has been totaly open about this in PBS interviews... even to the point of the date of the dress...

  That's true David!  Orla's mentioned it before at her shows.  Many, if not most, women would be proud to be able to say they can still fit in their wedding dress--but Orla certainly does!

    However,  for you men out there: I would suggest the idea of a wedding dress which could be worn on other occasions not come from the prospective groom!  :P :D

  I haven't seen that last pic either.   :-\   It looks like this might be a garage or a workshop of some sort. Hmmm.....  Is that a harp case on the table?   Looks like it.  Maybe  Orla practices in there  to have some privacy.   :-\

Yep! Thats def. a harps case! My friend in elementary played harp and we we soooo tiny then her dad would have to put the same cover on after everytime she performed since she couldn't reach! (we were 6 years old and barely making 3 feet!!) When I saw the pick it reminded me of my friend Aubrey and the times she played her harp for us, and her dad was waiting right on stage!! And she still does plays and plays it for all our friends weddings (hopefully including mine one day, one.....day....!!!!)

I believe they are two different things.  "My Land"  was Orla's newest  CD for which she won for "Best New CD" at the IMA  (Irish Music Awards)  last January.   FYI..... In a few months, the voting will start for the new 2013 IMA. Details will probably be on this forum as the date gets nearer.

Nominations for the 2012 IMA awards are ongoing right now!  After nominations are announced in November, voting will commence in December.  Winners will be announced at the IMA awards ceremony next year. Here is the thread on the subject:
