Title: Mairead singing "And I Love You So"
Post by: Hubert on October 02, 2017, 01:10PM
I have just perused all the subjects under Mairead Carlin and have yet to see any reference to my favorite Mairead song so here is the link.

All Mairead fans please listen to this if you have not already done so and let me know what you think.  I can't understand why this song does not get more accolades.

Very pretty: the video, the song, and the singer.

It's a song from Songbook, which Mairead recorded under contract a few years ago, before she was with Celtic Woman. Mairead Carlin didn't own the rights and the folks that did chose to release the album last year without her consent. Mairead doesn't make any money from album / track sales for Songbook. Some fans defiantly boycotted the album in support of Mairead (thoughtful and loyal, but something Mairead never asked for or explicitly condoned). Some fans just found Mairead's voice (albeit one that has grown even more beautiful since then), irresistible. Many such fans felt disappointed and guilty about supporting a label that took advantage of Mairead and essentially disregarded her wishes. Mairead is proud of the work she did but mentioned she doesn't feel it's representative of the singer she is now.

All the controversy surrounding the album the song is from may have something to do with the minimal discussion surrounding it. Also, I think the original video was taken down a while back (probably around the same time the album was released).

Thanks for the information, Tom.  All I know is that it is a pretty song by a very talented, lovely and sweet young woman.
