There is a listing on Ebay for a CW cd "The Best of Christmas" with 20 songs from the current and former members of the group.  

The seller is in Belfast and shows a release date of November 24th.  I don't know if that date is for the UK, Europe, and/or North America.  Ebay item number is 253212993287.

Current (&) Former Member's (would) normally have to include
Lynn Hilary & Alex Sharpe but  :'( there isn't material recorded other than... :-\..

According to the tracklist, number 20 should be:

20. Auld Lang Syne Lisa Lambe, Chloe, Meav

This is either a mistake or a sign that this is a false release. I suppose we will find out in a couple of months :D

The Ebay listing has been removed "by the seller because the item is no longer available".

The listing said there were 10 available -- maybe they were all sold.  ??

I'm pretty sure it's a bootleg release.

Even ordering actual albums from Ebay or Amazon marketplace is hit and miss.

Examples:
- One of Orla's CD came with all the right labels and CD inserts, but the actual tracks on the CD were from "A Very She & Him Christmas" ... yeah I don't think the label made that mistake...
- "An Irish Journey" shipped with all the right labels and CD inserts, but the actual tracks on the CD were from "A New Journey"

I think it's extremely unlikely those were as "official" copies as they claimed to be.

Considering that CD you mentioned was not promoted by Celtic Woman and none of us knew of any such CD, I think someone just put a few of their recordings together on a CD and tried to sell it.

It's possible it was some regionally and legitimately licensed variant but...it sounds suspicious.

There is another "new" CW Christmas cd on Ebay now -- ICON Christmas -- 11 tracks with no other info about it.  Maybe another bootleg cd? ???

Icon Christmas was released in November 2015. I own a copy, it‘s no bootleg, it‘s part of a series of CDs called Icon. It‘s also available on iTunes, just called Christmas

Yeah, it turned out to be legit!

I guess some vendors started to offer it before CW actually announced it.

Unless the tracks are re-recorded, I won't be getting this album, because I already have all these songs. I think it would be awesome if they made an all new Christmas album. I would love that, or even if these were re-recorded with the current girls, that would be really cool. But I think it's just a compilation of their already recorded Christmas songs.

Agreed Tiffany. Have we even heard anything about a Christmas Tour? Because, seeing as they're no longer using David Downes' arrangements, they need to do a new Christmas album to get some music to perform. Last year's Christmas Tour was basically a little intro for VOA.

I was always a bit confused by this compilation album. It's a legitimate album, but is it considered part of the official Celtic Woman discography? Or is it separate from the main discography and just uses the Celtic Woman branding / tracks?

The distinction becomes relevant when presenting facts about the group (ie. statements like "this is the group's 18th album and 7th Christmas-themed album"). If it's considered an official part of their discography, it changes the official counts for all the group's subsequent albums (including all subsequent Christmas-themed albums) and inconsistent information is one of the things that really irritates the folks at Wikipedia.

... But just looking at that list raises some other questions. Was the German version of the Believe album not an "official" CD in their discography? What about Silent Night? Or O Christmas Tree? A Celtic Family Christmas? Celtic Christmas? Decade? I mean there's a lot of stuff missing from that list that I would personally consider "official."

To compound the confusion, the website also states:

11? Lol! There are 14 in their list on the site. Where are they getting these numbers?  ;D

I'm going to take a look at some of the album counts that have been documented after that album was released to see if there's a general consensus.

I'm also going to look through the discography for a few of the other artists / groups that have Icon series albums and see if they are included in those official discographies.
