Title: Prefer All Male Choir or Mixed Choir?
Post by: Celtic4life on January 28, 2018, 12:20AM
I wonder if Celtic Woman will go back to a Mixed Choir? Meaning Ladies and Men. I like the all male choir but some songs it feels like something is missing. It's crazy that on the Destiny DVD it was mixed and on Destiny tour it was all men Choir. VOA all men, and now on Homecoming DVD it's all men larger choir on some songs. What are your thoughts? Do you want to see the mixed choir to return or do you prefer an all male choir backing up the ladies?

In some cases, having 4 male choir members is appropriate to the arrangement. It provides a deeper sound beneath the beautiful voices of the girls.

Personally, I would prefer a mixed choir of at least 6, but I understand that adding more people means adding quite a bit of cost to the tour. I'm sure having 2 guys and 2 ladies in the choir would sound just fine too instead of 4 guys.

I  guess  I  just  trust  Meav's  judgement  as  it  was  probably  largely  her  creative  call  as  vocal  director.    ;)

Vocal Director and matchmaker for Mairead Carlin, it seems.  ;)

I  bet  that  might have been  in  he  back  of  her  mind  as an  " X-Factor"    in  her  decision  making.  The  front  line  talent  is  more  likely  to  stay  longer  if they  can  tour  together  with  their  loved  ones.  I think Meav understands  the  value  of  continuity   8)
